New Adventure, New Thread (M)

My dear, supportive talikat, your check for keeping my thread going is in the mail.

I will keep your kind words in mind next time I come across a 'post your rump' thread.

Woo hoo!! It's my pleasure completely!!!
The rain and the fog have been relentless the past week, sapping people's interest in venturing out and about on a boat, or outside in general.

The damp, cold weather has been grinding me down for a while. I try to see the beauty in adversity, to be glad for the fecundity that comes from the constant rain.

Even so, I'm eager and happy for the feel of the warm sun on my skin and the way it brightens everything.

When both those things happen in the span of twelve hours, it can be quite the journey.

For anyone growing weary of goofy pics, dirty photos soon to come

Gorgeous!! I love the little dew drops! Thank you for sharing those!

:rose: Time may not allow for much writing, but the few minutes you stole for this were well worth it. Thank you, sweetie.

You are very welcome my seductive rose.

Glad that you liked it.

I wish that I did more writing but the digital device that is ever at hand while inelegant and impersonal is incredibly convenient for storing and sharing ideas.

Talikat-
I am incredibly elated and honored to know that I can bring a bit of joy to a sexy, wonderful woman.

As for the dew drops, I must confess to messing with filters and lighting just a bit to make them stand out in the pic that I posted.

Endurance, or belief in the life within the seed

I promised a dirty picture.

More correctly, this one contains soil.

(Soil is where living things grow, dirt is what a person tracks inside on the bottom of their shoe)

I bought a plant after visiting Aoteoroa reminiscent of the Lancewood, a tropical plant that has an adolescent form vastly different from it's adult self so much that it is rife for allegory.

Mine did not fair well through the winter, but now there is new life and signs of recovery after a replanting, experiments to find the sunniest spot, as well as bi-daily movings in and out of the sun and the cold.

I cannot help but see a little lesson about the power of endurance and the importance of perseverance in it's rebound.

I love reading your commentary for each picture. Gives us a little insight into your world and thoughts. However, I must admit I was hoping for a picture of you possibly with a little smudge of soil on your cheek. Oh the dirty thoughts! :)

Glad that you enjoy the ramblings that accompany my photos.

And thank you for a fun idea of what to share next!

;-)

Really cool overhead shot!!

Today was a day off

Not as productive as I should have been, which seems to be the case for a lazy person like me.

The sky was full of big fluffy white clouds after a few hours of clouds and gentle rain.

So I took some photos to savor the moment of warm air and blue sky

The light after a storm passes is always so dynamic, so beautiful. It's easy to see why you were drawn to take photos of it. Don't mind me, but I have this sudden urge to nibble at your shoulder..

Thank you my kind Rose.

I should spend more time up there, alone with my thoughts, and a camera

I would be quite happy to feel your lips and teeth on any body part of your choosing--

By all means, nibble away...

Heat from a Distant Sun

Summer seems to have arrived and with it heat and humidity and unexpected summer storms that make tourists scatter.

But those storms leave after they tatoo the water with raindrops and soak the Earth, leaving cool, crisp, clean air.

For very long I ranted about feeling cold, of being numb at work.

Now, every day, there is heat and sun, so much that I can barely remember those lonely, cold days.

But I do remember pledging not to whinge about being hot and sweaty.

So we will have none of that.

I love how blue the sky gets after our daily thunderstorms in the summer, you capture yours beautifully and with outstanding foreground art!

I'll whine for the both of us, I'm a winter girl! In the meantime, I'll enjoy the summer nudity.

I prefer the warm days of Autumn and cool, clear nights, but to each their own. Summer suits you in a most becoming way. :rose: Beautiful shot of the city.. probably one of the best I've seen.

Thank you ladies!

I am glad that the photo turned out so well, considering that I was soaked and so was my phone when I took it.

I wish that I had been smart enough to capture the rain drops on the water; it was a beautiful, hypnotic pattern.

I will confess to preferring cooler weather over hot (makes me feel more justified in having all the wool clothing I own)

However, the bright sun and high temps brings the customers and provides me a living, so there is something distasteful about grousing about how I make money.

It pays to know people

So it turns out that someone a work colleague knows snapped a photo of just how severe and ridiculous yesterday's storm was.

I hope that the pattern that the rain made on the water shines through in the photo.

I could watch the lake for hours, even in the rain.

The things that we keep

The warm weather has finally come to town and with it the holidays and long days dealing with hundreds of people. Not much time for deep thoughts or at least sharing them here.

I was talking with a friend and we discussed something she has owned since she was 18. I thought about my own life and the things that I've let go the things that I've lost things that I've wanted. And the thing that I have probably kept the longest are these motorcycle boots.

I like boots. They are rugged and durable, they signal that you are ready

My motorcycle boots always make me feel like a badass.

The clink of the buckle, the solid thump of the heel when I walked.

The fact that they make me 2" taller sure helps

I remember a magical day as a little boy when a strange man and a white T-shirt witb6 hairy arms and a big smile on his face wearing big black sunglasses swooped me up from the local corner store in front of all my friends. It felt awesome to have a cool dad who had a motorcycle.
Sadly that motorcycle stayed in the garage for a decade and I was never allowed to touch it. So I decided to just take it out and push it up and on the driveway and a vain attempt forget it jump started. After that my father knew I was serious about wanting this and despite his fears let me buy one.
Motorcycle? Check
Cheap leather jacket like Johnny in "The Wild One"? Check
Big clunky engineer boots? check

Riding a bike and having the boots felt like destiny.

Those boots came in handy considering how many times that first motorbike left me stranded and I had to walk a mile or so to get to the phone or a gas station.
The jacket got old and worn and at some point it went away.
That first motorcycle is moldering and rotting in a shed on my father's 'farm' and maybe someday I can repair it. But for now I keep the boots and remember when I was young

A beautiful photo.... The roll or thunder and pounding of rain never gets old... just being drenched, frizzy headed, and stuck indoors gets old.

A sweet story to go along with a spicy photo. Thank you for sharing with us! (My mind has wandered off to envision you in riding leathers now.. *drool*)

Awww, I don't have those boots, but I have the jacket and leather pants. I hope someday you get it running and ride again. Nothing sadder than a bike that's not ridden. :(

You look hot in just those boots, it's a good look on you!

Thank you ladies!

I still ride, but now it's a bicycle. Although I still stop and gawk at old Japanese bikes parked on the street.

I don't wear the boots very much anymore, but maybe this summer I will wear them out with an old pair of jeans and a daigo T like I did when I rode just for old time sake.

And now I cannot stop thinking about the two of you very sexy ladies in leather pants and all of us going for a ride in the moonlight down a silver ribbon of highway.

Lost in the backyard

Today was a long day
I barely made it home before the sunset. This is remarkable for the fact that I got to work around the time the sun rose.

Tonight as I walked my little dog around the courtyard, I caught a glimpse of a firefly. My heart leapt for it has been rare to see them the past few years (or maybe I just live in a city full of light) and I revelled in watching it flash as it ascended in the warm summer air. As a little boy, they would flash and be gone and I was on to catch the next one. I do not know if the height I have gained makes the difference or if 45 year old eyes work better at night than those of a 6 year old.

It has been a long time since I captured a firefly, but I still love to watch them dance.

PS I don't have a great photo to go with tonight's rambling thoughts, so y'all will need to use some imagination to see the dark field of grass ringed by trees alight with the dappled spark of phosphorescent bugs

Lots of good times doing that as a child! My yard is full of them at night! :)

I remember catching lightning bugs in a make shift bug jar (Jif containers were the best.) Darting in and out of flower beds.. squishing my Mom's prized plants in the process, to running across the yard at breakneck speed without tripping in near darkness... but I never saw the pattern in the bugs flight. Guess age does have a bit to do with it. I remember holding my glowing jar and feeling like I was holding something magical.

That was a lovely trip down memory lane. Thank you for it!

Willin'

The title of today's post is a song that I first heard in a movie, sung by the crew of an underwater mining operation who get caught up in a crazy adventure.

Even as a high school kid who had only worked menial jobs, the lyrics and the resignation of the song and it's persona spoke to me about dedication and how honest people do what they need to get the job done (they don't sing the second verse about smuggling in the the film). Plus, I had also wanted to be a truck driver when I was a little boy. It was a big thing in the 1970s.

I haven't visited the places mentioned in the song but I've worked long days and performed jobs that people only seem to notice if you don't do them. It is often my theme song.

I post in the playground some times, and right now that song would sum up how I'm feeling right now in one word as well as be my song of the day.

Today will be a long day working in the sun while others play. It is one in a long string of long grueling days, and it won't be the last.

But I'm still Willin'

It's been a very long time since I heard that song!

Willin' is all you need to be! We're not always able, but if the heart is willing, your spirit is still in tact.
