New Poetry Recommendations

Seventeen new poems for Tuesday May 17th.

First Kaishaku’s A Caught my eye, I have a feeling it is a spatial that got bent out of shape but the poem itself is a delightful play an words.

Next dcpoet gives us a bitter look at the debris of broken relationships with Sinkholes.

I think Shattered a poem about the fragility of life by a relatively new (to us) poet, Zanzibar is well worth a visit and vote.

I’m going to mention Blue Skies by Uncle Pervey simply because, for once, he’s written a non-pervey poem. It’s not particularly good, doesn’t scan evenly but at least it’s not about incest.

Several other poets are represented by works I felt didn't live up to their proven potential. Maybe I'm just in a nit-picky mood. Now, if you haven't yet, go read, vote and comment.

Oh Fuck! and Offside

by none other than bogusbrig
your poetry is something I look for everyday now....all I can say is you need to keep writing. Perhaps some illustrated poetry would be right up your alley...?

Cyanide Smile by Wanton Vixxen

Vixx, once again your imagry is outstanding, Bravo

and last but not least spent
by a new poet txenigma

simple yet totally effective...nice work, look forward to reading more of your writing.

Keep writing everyone...sorry this is late and not very in depth today. I promise to live up to my legendary status next Wednesday <hehehee>...love, Sabina ;)

New Poems of Thursday May 19, 2005

The most prolific and well known of today’s poets is Uncle Pervey who has five of the 20 new poems. Of the five only two are what have been referred to as his “dirty doggerel”. Whether you like Uncle’s style or not, for a self-proclaimed blind poet, he must be given acknowledgement for his continuing productivity.
I personally wish he would publish a little less and edit more, but this is Literotica after all.

erotic category:
Dancing Prancing Karen!
Pussy Time! - song lyrics

non-erotic category:
Gas Can Fool Ya!
In the Forever!
Limerick Set 016 - Light Humor!

***

Muzak for Days Gone By by recklesschild has some interesting lines and is strengthened by the last stanza.
. . .
Humming, you’re shaving at my mirror.
A joyful symphony of your own creation
I wrap my arms about your waist
And add
. . .some words.

***

sliver of moon by Fast1 is a quickie by a fairly new author that uses word placement as a tool. (It can be read as three lines or five.) Go look at it. :rose:

***

Sometimes less is more and sometimes it is not. Kaishaku, a good Lit. poet, has written the minimalist poem melting snow. It is only three lines so go read and enjoy it, but on this theme I still prefer SeattleRain's slightly longer "beside the red barn door"

The boot print
you left in the snow
grows outward as it melts.
Someone like me might believe
a giant walked this endless field
over the spring-snow grass
that leaks its green
into the landscape.
***

Two others you might want to look at:
Full by impressive and
Desperate Words by seannelson

Taste is always an individual thing so there may certainly be other poems out there today that you will thoroughly enjoy. If you find ones you really like on the New Poems page, please come back and tell us about them!

And please remember that our poets need your support, so Read Vote Comment Feedback. It won’t come back around if you don’t send it out! ;)

A recommendation

From Thursday the 19th

Bravest Face - Dustystar

One of my favorite poets, she doesn't grace us often enough but when she does it's always with something that makes me wish I'd written it.

Example?
Here:

Pass the time and drink
This potion of surrender. Worry will stay
Written in between your brow. Like words think
Nothing yet teach thought, I ought let you go.
For sorrow, once spoken, tangle us so.

I keep reading it over and over
Please read and vote and comment.
This woman teaches me something with every poem

Thank you

One I Liked

Poking around the new poems this morning and stumbled across On The Bus From Allentown by russeltrust. At first, it felt very 'prosey' to me but, as I read further I began to feel the poetical nature of the work. At the end, I felt it had a nice resolution... Its a likable poem. There is something about it, but I just can't put my finger on it.... Ah well...

I hope all are well here.

Chartreuse by Du Lac I am well aware that all have their favorites and the styles that each poet likes is different, I liked this poem and of course the poet <grin>

No poems posted for saturday again and it is noon. I will be back later and perhaps they will surface. Have a great day.

Spinning

There was no “Golden Oldie” on Thursday because I thought I had posted it, and I cleared my template before realizing that I had forgotten to paste it at the top of my “mentions”. So for those of you who may have missed it, I bring you now, while we wait for today’s poems, a poem from March of last year by Syndra Lynn titled Lilac Dreams. The season is right and the memories are ripe.
Lilac Dreams

Child of my youth
Spirit us to lilac dreams

Impressive, giant bush
Massive aroma stirs
thick as cheesecake
Delicate lavender petals
Burst from swollen bouquets
Impetuously carpet the earth

The lilacs blossomed there.

Apparition flies past on rails
Contemplate, thundering echo
Ponder mournful wail
Study it on the horizon
as it melts in ascending heat

The lilac bush bloomed there.

Black raspberry brambles
fortress of thorns
beckons with sticky sweet fragrance
then injures us for the invasion
Young harvest is tart
Patience, for perfection
Luscious preserves, sweet berry pie

The lilacs flourished there.

Where declining barn resides
seek tranquil repose
Rust, and aging timber
issue musty bouquet
Ghosts of horses past
meander my imagination
dance among my dreams

The lilac bush grows there.

House at rainbows end
exudes bakery essence
Butter painted pancakes
Silver dollar size
Golden scent caress my nose
Strawberry pool tickle my tongue

Showering from vases
The lilacs decorate there.

We idle away our youth
in the space above the stair
Musical wooden floor
accompanies our games
then splintered, stings us
and sends wet faces flying
down to Grandma's arms
Her loving, crinkled hands
relieve the pain and tears

Within her heart
The lilacs dance.

Her house teams with laughter
and the poignant lilac smell
She teaches me to color, sew and bake
select the blossoms fine
Takes me onto luxurious lap
And well a story winds

Pot of gold, this domicile
Is where the lilacs dwell.

Fairness of the flowers
Color of the love
Rich symphonic scent
Everlasting in my soul

For in my spirit, heart and mind
Is where the lilacs thrive.
I always suggest that if you like a spun up oldie then you should go read some others by that poet. Today I took my own advice, so I bring you also by Syndra Lynn, Complexities of Wine and Poetry
I love the feel of
soil on my hands
sounds on my tongue
these I understand

In a vineyard,
I can diagnose Eutypa or Botrytis
Itemize sixteen nutrients
essential to Vitis

In a manuscript
I can diagnose grammar or spelling errors
punctuate, articulate,
avoid tense related horrors

With these simple tools,
I grow healthy vines
create basic writing
with some meter and rhyme

Science of viticulture
Science of language
studied and mastered
in my class, above average

But grapes are not wine
and words are not poetry
Though both are richer
mixed with proper chemistry

I have the vocabulary
but can’t describe wine
with silly descriptors
about mice and white pine

And I can’t tell you why
a certain verse feels just right
But with both wine and poetry
I KNOW WHAT I LIKE!!!

picking up Friday 5.20

Good afternoon Poets

Looks like Friday was skipped, but sense they're still up at the top of the New Poem page it wouldn't hurt to do a few mentions, eh?

First an illustrated spinner... not an old one, but the second spin brought me Liar's Perspective Shift. I've always liked Liar's work due to his kick ass killer lines that make me wish that I'd written them. And his illustrated poetry is just as envy worthy.

liar_perspectiveshift.jpg

Speaking of stellar illustrated work, check out 4degrees' D-tach. The poem it self is the art. The text effects in his work really puts a 3d emotional twist that might of been lost in the write without it.

Also another illustrated poem, Autumn Arena by wildsweetone is a heated piece with lots of vibrant graphics with or without the accompanying art.

Paris by bogusbrig is a must read due to the intense imagery.
We strolled up Montmartre
Through the tourist traps
And past the eateries

Where you were seduced
By a hustler street artist
Into posing for your portrait
That's it for me, check out the New Poems when they get there and tells us all what you liked as well

ciao

Runniing at full speed
Hmmmm,
there's some that calls 'em Illustrated poetry, I calls 'em nature poems with pictures

I don't like either, despite that Du Lac has put a very interesting spin on
Chartreuse

I'm going to assume everything was planned this way, the title, a little off-putting, the picture which was distracting, in hind-sight, I can think of one better; the words which range from truly beautiful to overly cloying.
"Doused within a chartreuse morn,
Orioles dance amongst sodden pink clouds,"
which should make any male's gentalia shrivel

Being a brave and foolhardy soul, I hacked my way into the second staza, where a slightly different note is introduced, then back to the poetic words of the third and fourth, the set-up.
I wasn't ready for that,

the full impact hitting, long after I was done reading

Du Lac, Touché

Over a cup of tea at 2 a.m. by MissPersephone

I found the poem to be enchanting and I really enjoyed this thought~

(trying to grasp thoughts like steam from a cup)

A Wish for Sun also posted today by this by this poet~

I smell Seatle by neonurotic

but the rain washes it away
for tomorrow~

This poem literarly reeks of smells, very good visuals neo, another excellent poem. I don't know the city, but I would recognize a few, scents <grin>

Heated Release by DontTouch

Inspirational poem, I truely liked the way the
poem was layed out, flowed in this prose form. Of course the tantalizing erotic wording had a little to do with why I posted it here, for erotic poetry rules and this one is a good one.

Parminedic Feedback Overload by liar

You ever looked at the drawing board of einstein and tried to decifer what he was calculating, I used my poetry decoder ring on this one and found it to truely have a crafty delivery, sometimes you don't have to be a zen master of poetry to read deep poetry you just have to have a flash light <grin>

I am diving back into the pile,

Monday's reviews...

My favorite of the day:

The Deep Blue Shadow of Us
by Kaishaku

Vivid descriptions paint a picture that is at once relational and serene. I don't want to post a clip from it because it reads so much better without hints.

What is Life?
by Jennifer C

I enjoyed the questions this poem raised, but wonder if it would benefit from a different structure, as far as the line end rhyme goes?

Submission Haiku
by Mistress Lila

Some of the haiku didn't push my buttons, but these lines deserve a mention, whether or not you're a fan of the structure:

Lips gape in pleasures
moist, deep and darkly profound.

There are a few shy of 40 New Poems posted today. Read and enjoy, and please feel free to jump in with those that flip your skirt up. :)

15 new poems this Tuesday and I’ve picked out four.

First If I’d by Kaishaku , a wistful little piece where the format fits the words perfectly. It has a well-deserved green E.

Then The Pool by bogusbrig ~ sweet memories and acceptance.

Next comes I Can’t Keep You by dcpoet44 which turns out to be a short, sweet poem with a twist.

Lastly Judo a Literotica veteran, makes a rare appearance with Pearls to Pour To my mind this is a poor example of this poets work, go read the rest and see what I mean.

"strip my world of want,

New Poems of Thursday May 26, 2005

There are 29 new submissions on this the fourth Thursday of May, (including six of the perveyerted kind if your bent is that way). And as always I bring you one non-erotic "spinner" from the archives.

Today's blast from the past:
This poem I spun-up from November of 2002. If you enjoy it, click on the name and go read some more of this longtime Lit. member’s work. The season may be wrong, but I like the images, and it only took me 3 spins to find this poem by nakedangelina.

Autumn Mourning

Half-truths and lies,
tangled and twisted
like fall leaves in her long dark hair.

His empty words
muddle through crisp morning air;

she inhales his betrayals
deeply.

The gentle light of dawn
breaks yet again,
her face to the sky
gleams
with tears and dew.

In the renewal of day,
of her,

she parts with her love for him,
tangled and twisted
among tall oak trees and weeping willows.
***

trendyredhead starts the day off enjoying weather that I haven’t seen yet this year. I can’t even put my garden in! It is 50° F and raining again today. :( (Somebody write a wet dog in a Nor’Easter poem. I’m too depressed to do it.)
Prairie Summer

Red-violet orbs of sweetness,
popping cold juice,
explosions of Chilean sun
chased by amber waves
of honeyed sweet tea
gulped from slick watermelon glass,
ice cubes cracking like ocean breakers.
Drift away on June breezes,
hammock rocking
beneath the Kansas sky.
***

Kaishaku is near the top of the list with an interesting piece titled Irren. This one requires more than one reading to appreciate most fully, unless you are far more urbane and widely read than I.

. . .
I hear the echoes, the voices in the night
Wet, blanketed screams as rain closes in
And Isadore repeats the lies
Repenting with every gust, every slap:
"Love is a storm, a deadly, deadly wind."
Such is a fitting end.
***

Eileen82 presents her first Lit. poem in three years today. I like the title. I like the fresh images in the old metaphor. Go read and comment on: The Recklessness of Water.
. . .
I felt anew the rush of water, the elements of life
against which I had chinked the cracks
and patched the leaking, sagging roof.
. . . . . . . I hurt.
I had forgotten what that was, and I fought
panic that rose like the Penobscot in spring,
flooding my banks.
When the waters receded
I stood among the wreckage, among the ruins of youth.
. . .
:rose:

***

Ted Berrigan Spoke When My Eyes, is a patchouli & jazz poem. I love the jazz, not so sure about the scent. If you don’t know enough to read an Angeline jazz poem without being told to, you are either brand-new here or beyond any help from me. (Same thing goes for anything by Wicked Eve, so check out her scribblings during some slow minutes.)

***

Make Mine Rain~ by LunaEroticaMystica is a nice soft alliterative little erotic poem by an infrequent contributor. Go see if you like it as I do.

***

Finally,
nik_bane, a new Literotica poet presents his first poem today. I think there is an “r” missing in the fourth line, but I do like the metaphor and the imagery created. Go give this new poet some encouragement.
The Fireplace

with popping air
pockets, and the sizzle of wet bark,
we ripple the air. I
stoke you thighs and
conduct, these lapping, overlapping
epicenters of warm. stacking
the choicest pieces, so that I may coax
combustion forth in that same
clever way you lure the lies
out of a child. smoke billows spill out
over top, creeping
like frantic specter-hands,
clasping handfuls
of bed sheet, white
knuckled.

Rybka, a fine review, kudos
I would like to mention, and this is just my opinion, easily the best poem for me was WickedEve's slow minutes
Here I get the feeling Eve is taking a run in Emily Dickenson territory. Emily Dickenson had perfect poems, they cannot be improved. As per usual lately, there is some disagreement with 1201's comments. This is fine. Tathagata weighing in with a counter agruement. I see the validity of his arguement. I do not completely agree.
I agree with Rybka that you should take the time, weigh in with a comment on this, it is almost near perfect.

i apologize to saturday's reviewer for jumping the gun, but i will not be here tomorrow and i wanted to make sure this poet gets a mention.

with each poem, she convinces me that she needs to be read. i was about to mention her poem thursday, but noticed rybka already had.

here is one today from Eileen82 :

Like Dorothy in Kansas .

she also has 2 others today. all of her poems should be read, really.

:rose:

God, I fell so dirty and unnatural
Pluggin' another guy's poetry
But what the fuck...

Tathagata offers My Real Face

which starts off with a Buddhist Koan in quotes
"Show me your face
before you were born"
which despite some unbuddhist language zen master number happened to catch, ( i didn't mention the other one) happens to be my favourite of the day.
it has some good lines
"Lulled and beloved,
I was led toward the sun."
and a great ending that I won't spoil, and a general feeling of one wandering off to find his true face, but finding it as elusive as ever..

how's that? the plug of noplug.

Interesting...
I see this woman mentioned in the past few days by:
Rybka
PatCarrington
My Erotic Tale
I did not see Petitioning the Lower Circuit mentioned. Probably Eileen82 has a committed a serious crime with this one.
A plea for clemency!

Fucking metaphors.
In the driest language of the law
there are none.

well, in the middle of this poem, she takes language that is difficult to work with and makes it kick ass.

Despite what I consider a fatal flaw, there is a part of this that awes me.
