New Poetry Recommendations

Just realized it's my day

Sorry folks, be back in a while with reviews.

Appears there are no new poems today. So let's go for a spin-

winter trees by eagleyez

begins like this:
she has elaborate glasses and
comfort hides under windowasher ladders
as the biography sloshes
from cleansing buckets

and just gets better. Brisk, fresh imagery from a poet I find truly unique.
Hit the link and enjoy.

I found this erotic one from Eleanora Day
Take

Pull me on you.
Say I want that.
Take it. It's yours.
Say I'm yours.
Take me. You are.
You are mine.

This poem demands your attention....check out the rest.

and lastly an illustrated poem by one of my favorite all round
fellow poets.....

Breather by Liar

If I knew how to copy it to here, I would have, instead click the link....a wonderful visual and literal combo.

So, good luck to Jen tomorrow, I hope you don't get too slammed.
My work here is done......adios! :D

Sunday's Reviews

Well all.. it seems that the gray skies that are hanging over my house at the moment were living within the souls of our poets of late......... Sunday seems to have become DARK DOOMS DAY SUNDAY... lol.. I find it funny that the day most hold as sacred to be given to the higher power.. always has such dank sad and dark poems appear on the boards. Nothing wrong with that we all have those mud puddles to explore but hell it is hard to review on these days..........

That said here are my picks:

Naked with the lights on by neonurotic ©

While this is not one of neo's best writes, I do enjoy how the poet takes us to that exact moment and pulls us into the desires that are hidden beneath the husks of social correctness. Short and to the point, no fancy wording here, there is a hidden layer to the write. Not only speaking about physical nakedness with lights on but to me I saw a call to open oneself up to another. A spiritual or soul nakedness calling to find the light.

The Colors of You by yui ©

This poem still needs to be tweaked but I found depth here that spoke strongly. The final line of the first stanza is too long and almost loses the reader. The poet comes back and readjusts ... returning to the simple rhetoric that speaks louder than big words of the too long line. The finish is nice and I feel this is a poem worth reading and sinking into. Still a wee bit raw but has the strength to stand on its own here at the reviews.

I see you in me]

Bemused, bereft.
In a handful of blue,
I'm left holding the colors of you.

*****************************************************************

A Yellow Rose: Gringo's Challenge by My Erotic Tale ©

I will not say much here for this is where I am biased lol... I love Art's Rose series and I find the stories delightful. No need for me to remind the poet of grammatical use etc... I do it regularly lol... regardless of my biased position I do recommend his Rose series to be read.

*****************************************************************

lounging by sandspike ©

I love how the poet pulls us gently into his moment. Reminding us of the gift of now and to lounge in it. This has a lazy haze of a write over it. Some tweaking on punctuation may be done but I like the sense that the read leaves us and the all important message that it sends.

*****************************************************************

Ethiopian Yirgacheffe by WriterDom ©

There was something about this write that got to me. I still have to read it again and again. The wording and style is simple but hinting with complexity of the title and some rhetoric. To me this ties in with the subject... hence why I can not put my finger directly on why I like it .. just do.

POEM OF THE DAY

Birth by cward2 ©

I loved it. Short powerful unique and full of emotional depth. Go read

Well all there you go. There are about 40 poems out there today and I can not mention them all... so if you see one that speaks to you.. say it..
be kind and comment

Of the two poems I found most intriguing today, one has already been mentioned. The second one is soap bubble by Senna Jawa

SJ is an acquired taste, and the very obvious word play in this poem is a bit unusual for him. I also wonder if he missed a hard return somewhere in the leading line, but with Senna Jawa you never can be certain. Go read it for yourself and decide.

I believe Duckie

may be underwater at this point.
I'll do a quick review of todays poems if no one objects.

martyr - cward2

An interesting juxtaposition of feelings and images that, for me, doesn't quite fit.
Taken with the title in mind I'm not sure if the dreamer or the dreamee is the subject here.
I do love the thought of someone throwing their own ashes in the sea however.

The Full Moon and The Sunset -cward2

replace " silken" and "velvet" with better less cliche words and you'd have a beautiful understated picture.

kintana - cward2

This poem accomplishes what you were trying to do with the other two.
By tying a star and a life together with a few simple words you describe the whole reality of something.
This needs to be read a few times, let it soak in,
all the spices and jungle noises are there right below the surface.

There are other poems submitted today.
have a look and mention anything you think I've over looked

Stay on high ground Duckie!

Be Well

I have yet, to make it through all the poems for the last two days. I am working my way through.

This poem that is a lil differ from what I have seen here, so far. I like the originality, and the fresh feeling of this poem. The formatting, looks like it is all over tha wall, yet it makes so much sense once ya read it. I really like this New poem. Hope you do too ~

25 new poems on the list today, but because of my pompous, elitist nature, I am only reviewing gay poets. All you procreation-obsessed heterosexuals can go screw yourselves. Or, better yet, go screw each other.

cward2 is outed! His cover is as blown as Bill Clinton at an Intern graduation party. He steps proudly out of the closet with 3 poems today. My favorites were The Violinist, in which he compares a violin to a despondent lover and The Empty Cinema, a nice poem that reflects its subject in its spare language.

New fudge-packer magnum2005, offers reeeal candy with An Anal Haiku. Spread your cheeks and feel how sweet a 5-7-5 tribute to sodomy can be.

Dildo-drivin’ dyke queen Svenskaflicka straps on her poet’s pen and shoves Public Sacrifice up the list. Ouch! This prolific author provides a clever take on the sacred offering.

Sorry, ladies! JerseyBoy found the grass greener on the gay side of the fence. He’s now swinging his hips for the other team, and with a poem like divergence he’s sure to be embraced. This wonderful poem stumbles a bit on grammar, but offers a fresh and clever treatment of the heart/mind schism. My favorite today.

My Erotic Tail’s-In-The-Air begs for a corking with A Yellow Rose: Lady in yellow. But I’m not going to give it to him.

Quirky queer Venus Inference slaps new poetry on the table with The Geometrid, a nihilistic study of transition that uses some awkward images but ends on a nice note. Some further development of the metaphor would help this poem, I believe.

There are a couple virgin poets not mentioned above. I suggest you run your fingers all over Dangerous Vixen’s and bttrflyinchains’ poetry before they turn straight on us.

These are my recommendations for today. If something caught your fancy, sashay on over to the list and let us know.

And hey! Use a spell checker, everyone. It won’t spoil the mood and, even if you know your partner well, you can’t be too careful.

I always knew. :D

There are only 15 poems today, so my recommendation to readers and poets of all sexual predispositions is to sashay your butt over to the new poetry list and read them all. You'll see the first poem ever posted by Hornypaki - I turned - for example, and die-hard fans will enjoy the regular offerings by sandspike, My Erotic Tale, Curiouswife (with an interesting A Preacher’s Picture), and RhymeFairy.

The two poems that I must emphasize, though, are two responses to wildsweetone's Wasted challenge. They're both hard-hitting pieces from two great authors and, without a shread of doubt, the two best, most fun to read poems posted today:

New Poems of Thursday September 1, 2005

There are 28 new submissions on this first Thursday of September to read as of now, and as always I bring you one non-erotic "spinner" from the archives.

Today's Blast from the past:
This poem I spun-up from a year ago last June. - It took me 5 spins to find this poem by jthserra. This author switched to prose and doesn't write much poetry anymore, which is a loss for all the rest of us.

Today's poem has a 4.67 rating and of course has a H. Even YDD liked this one! :)
Voice of Water
I survived you by enough,
and only by enough,
to contemplate from afar.
from "Parting With A View"
by Wislawa Szymborska

It reflected
the singular grain of sand
returning the light
of a distant source
and in that shining moment
I heard you calling me
like the whisper of the waves.

I've known you were there
I've seen you pass
the corner of my eye
caught your shadow
in the depths of my mirror --
silvered glass and my longing smile.

How I miss you
in the silence of your words
knowing the world and I
but survive without you.

I am alone
until I see you sparkle
in that single grain
and I hear you whisper
in the distant waves.
A light of earth
and voice of water.
***

I start today with Wasted Dreams by bluerains This is probably an STC entry, but it also seems hurricanely appropriate.
Another wicked wave crashes
against a tower of
quiet determination
as the day’s sun
comes undone
. . .
***

My second choice of the day is by Curiouswife, a relatively new, but very strong voice who is rapidly becoming a "must read poet". Read today's Believe and you Shall Receive and see why. Some of the rhymes are stretched, but the theme and imagery more than make this poem work. :rose:

***

That's it for me today, only two out of the many. I've got a cold and am becoming depressed by all the Gulf coast TV aftermath. :(
I didn't find any other submissions that moved me enough to mention them. Plenty of readable stuff, just nothing that caught my fancy. A spate of average, a dearth of excellence (IMO).

Read my two choices and then why don't you go find something you really like and then come back and tell me. I may have missed some good ones and I need cheering up.

And please remember that our poets need your support, so Read Vote Comment Feedback. It won’t come back around if you don’t send it out! ;)

Regards, Rybka

Thank ya'll for lettin me play and have fun. I enjoyed today's reads. A lot of differ. styles and a few poets did post more than one poem. I also, did not see anything that Jummmppeeddd out at me. Some really good poems today.

Saturdays Review

Well It's 4:30 in the afternoon here on the first Saturday of September and as of yet there are NO new poems for me to review today! :(

So I offer you an erotic spinner instead :)

I hit this little gem first time ~

Summer Loves
by BooMerengue ©

Oh! How I ache
for the skin of the boys,
my summer loves

the days and nights
in the deep woods
with nothing but the loon's cry
across the lake
to mark the first kisses,
the fumbling heated touches,
the virgin smoothness
of these unschooled babies
as they grew to manhood bit by bit
deep inside of me

my Mother the moon
lighting the cold water lake as
chilled goosebumpy flesh
warmed my hardened nipples
floating, teased by the motion of
untamed thrusts
as love eternal
was sworn between spurts
of blonde blue eyed orgasms

to walk again the piney path
trembling in anticipation
toward a new postulant
of my temple of lust

Oh how I ache
for the sweet salty taste
of my summer loves

and the mona lisa cry of the loon.

As always if they appear later I shall be back to review them.

Have a great weekend

Sunday Reviews

Okay all... over 60 poems today! May I say this it is overwhelming to read the same writer over and over. One become immune to the voice of the poem and it feels as if they are trying to fill a quota rather than write because the voice within calls one to write. That said............

May I say that I am not a fool lol... when this happens I have learned to ask for help!!!! So the last 30 poems are being done by my comrade Erotic Tale. I find that to do a job well we must have the humility to ask for help. While neither of us are experts in the reviewing of poetry, we feel that a community effort allows the poems to be read and fairly commented on. ;)

That said here we go:

Charcoal by cward2 ©

I am as we have noticed biased to short powerful writes. The poet here uses the mechanical and structural aspects of this free form poem to punch the sadness and reality of living into the readers mind. Emotionally there is a deep sadness vibrating through the theme of the work but I did not feel overwhelmed only a settling of truth. I salute cward2 fast becoming one of this poets regular readers.

zmp ~ Night Wisdom by My Erotic Tale ©

I am biased as said before to Art's writing. I must say that this poem is one of his best. I see growth here by leaps and bounds. First, may I say, I believe the poet has discovered spell check! (sorry dear friend had to say it) Secondly, the structure used here casts a mystical veil over the theme of the work. This recent poem has a depth that is a new style for the writer. A refreshing read and excitement breeder to see growth in the work.

:nana:

The next two poems are examples I feel of true erotic writing! I am so sick of reading the words twat, pussy and cock. There lacks a seduction in the erotic poems of late. These two I pick capture that seduction, the word play and the heat of eroticism that heightens the senses and solicits the mind.

The P-word Poem by neonurotic ©

The poet is sly as a fox and witty as crow. I love how he avoids the P word until the end of the poem all the while courting both the mind and primal urges that chant inside of the reader. Letters and sound have power and this verse is a wonderful example of the energy that protrudes from a pensive sound created through prolific poetry. LOL gotta love that P~

:catroar:

dinner is served by sweet GA peaches ©

and the night paints the whispers
where confessions can only dance..

The opening line here lures the reader in with sensual visions. I felt both emotional and physical drawing powers within the first stanza. The seduction began........

The theme is courting both the subjects of the write and the reader. Very slight with the use of colorful wording and simple rhetoric. I dance, a warm breeze that blows into a hurricane of passion and primal natural urges. Very much enjoyed.

Hamlet On The Hammock by dcpoet44 ©

A unique title that draws the reader in. A powerful write that contradicts the lazy haze that one envisions when only judging by the title. I see the connections here with Hamlet and the Modern world... I do feel that the last line does lose the impact that is needed in the poem. Separation may be needed or rewording but overall a nice example of powerful short prose.

:D

Diety by logophile ©

This style is not what I usually embrace. In this poem it works wonderfully, creating a strong theme that is visually, emotionally and mentally stirring. I felt the manic intensity and painful need to be a part of it. I look forward to more from this writer if they continue on this level of growth.

;)

Romance of Atlantis by bluerains ©

The theme of the write has a mixture of mystical and reality swirling into a confusion of being the outsider looking into anothers reality. I feel the style and structure enhances the write by the poet and I love how the ending leaves us questioning both the message of the poet, the subject and ourselves.

:rose:

Well all those are the pics for me on this Sunday. Art has his own post to reveal other poems that deserve attention. If you feel that a poets work spoke to you and you deem that it needs attention please feel free to comment.
Have a wonderful Labor day all..

I detect a master of pen or a very perfect emotion in write with this poem, it dances with erotic, like a river's shorline lapped at by the water in a very natural way, rough and animalistic with serenity in scenes. Or better yet go read and get your own oppinion. TY ...Art~

Du - I'd like to single this one out, for a variety of reasons. dcpoet44 when he got here, stuggled with writing, was subjected to some of those horrible gutless noname comments that I despise, plus MY overbearing ball-busting for overuse of the "P" word. (i.e. poet; poetry)

Here he works in a area that is difficult to carry off well - politics. He does so with out the preachiness, a bit of ambiguity and humour. And Damn, that is a good title. Knocked my socks off, what a concept.

Sure, it could be better, I'm sure in time he will get there and either write a classic, or near classic.

Good luck ta yah - do read up on some Auden, eh? But not too much...

Words ... I have none. To express, what I felt when reading, this emotional poem. I see Art has ... still is growing, so much with his poetry. Just love this poem.

Monday's reviews...

There are 23 poems posted with today's date, and these are the ones that tickled my fancy. (Do you ever wonder where those little cliches come from? How does one 'tickle' something so theoretical as fancy? But that's no never mind. :) )

On to the poems...

Ancient Dance
by cymry

I liked the feel of this, and the way the poet shapes her words. However, parts of it feel shortchanged, in order to meet the rhyme scheme. I wonder what this would like with less of a structured rhyme pattern, and a more freely-wielded pen.

Timber
by Curiouswife

If this were even just the following three lines, it would still require a read:

hope blowing in the breeze
carrying flowers from trees
and me, away

Guilty by Association
by quietpoet

After reading this three times through, it left me wanting some sort of ...resolution. A final line or three tying his thoughts together. Only after the fourth read did I realize that it would be impossible to do so. In real life, there is no resolution about this situation, and neither is there in poetry.

And the rest of the New Poems for your reading pleasure.

Have a wonderful week. :)

I got two more posts to go, and I'm bored, I going to pull a Rybka, revisit two of my favourite poetesseses:

beauty, condensed
Which would be the way I feel about her, except she tells me she is taller. Really not canned poetry
~

beauty, condensed

When reduced to her smallest terms
even straight women want to hold this thing
so condensed, whittled,
boiled down into the essence of what you desire.

Not her name,
only the glow.

Sex and shiver of the sexual
being that moves beauty to its side
for a clear view of its closest companion.

Woman reduced to a sliver of herself,
a piece of jewelry to display
or contain in small packages
opened with hinge,
lined in velvet, crushed.

How is it you create
this slut fucking bitch who dreams of being stopped
hand smacked and abandoned where she might

have room to re-inflate into something real,
something that cannot be worn
something that cannot be packaged
and passed across the table.

not my favourite by her, but can anyone guess who it is?

26 New Poems today. I suppose I could summarize my thoughts on every single one, but do you really care what I think about 26 poems? Assuming you are more interested in the poems than in me I suggest that, if you are interested in all of them, you go read all of them.

But, if you want your attention drawn to some poems of real note today, linger at my knee a moment and let me steer your thinking.

dcpoet44 revisits High School Days with an appropriately puerile eye. Makes you want to flick the books out of his arms in the hallway!

New poet Venus Inference has six entries today. This is a poet to watch: his imagery and phrasing are striking. I think he writes best in prose-poetry style, but all of it is worth reading. My favorites of his today are feed your head, which took me back to bong-long nights of Jefferson Airplane, Credit Line, a tale of gamesmanship that includes this amazing line: here: my lips are pawns. should i plant them on the facade of your castle walls? they will become royalty, and romance redefined; the phenomenon of ecstasy no longer religious, but linear and enlightening, Voyeurism, a dark exploration of relationships that begins: Out of all the toys you never used, I was your favorite prosthetic, and Labyrinthe, for which he earns an "E" from the mysterious machine of Lit. (petuitary??)

Oh yeah, Lisa by Curiouswife sparks a furious flame of youth. Keep a glass of water handy.

MLP ~ Cometh the Wild by My Erotic Tale is a wonderful poem that captures the rhythym of its subject with a driving refrain.

This Time, Last Year by Dustystar is a poem of uneven quality, but the high points are stellar.

Those are my "don't miss" poems. There are others that you may enjoy: by all means recommend them here if you wish.

Some new poets to stroke: blacjaguar09, aftershocked. Give 'em some love.

7th September, 2005

There are only 12 poems posted today.

My personal favourite of the day comes from Istanbul (07-09-05), and it was written by Algonquin Twit. I was not familiar with his work, but each of the three poems he posted before are well worth the read as well. (One of them in particular should be mandatory.) That's going to be my recommendation: visit this poet's page and enjoy.
