New Poetry Recommendations

August 14

I would also recommend Entropy by darkgoddess2478, A Flower Falls by KR, and Play Date by Belegon. All three are quite good, imo, and certainly worth a read.

And while you're there, don't forget to vote and comment. :)

Glad you mentioned those and Lauren's poem. I hate to see the good poems ignored, and I would have ignored them, if I had not seen them here. And that's because I'm a bad girl. Bad, bad, bad. Speaking of bad, has anyone read steve porter's poem?

Alice is a very naughty girl
by steve porter ©
Bad girl! Bad! Bad! Bad! Bad! Bad!
Spank! Spank! Spank! Spank! Spank!

Alice wimpers and whines and thinks
love is pain, love is pain, love is pain.

Interesting.

----------

And speaking of interesting, this one is:
I Can't Do This
by Curiouswife ©

-----------

shambles
by daievo073 ©

thrust into my clam ham, your love muscle
you, into my sweat, unto your musk,
rolling mounds, lumps, and sloppy skins

I should have averted my eyes after the first strophe. But it does have a freaky, original ending. And let's admit it. Many of us love clam hams and love muscles. Well, maybe a few of us. One?

iamdirtypushingouttoxinsontopalpitatingsupple

catharsis, and i could have slapped her happy, orgasm

----------

So, go read these and the ones A mentioned and the ones D mentioned and vote and comment and send email and a phone call praising the poet would be fine also. Drop by their homes and knock on the door and tell them you like the poem. Ask for a copy to take with you to jail, where you'll end up for being a stalker and listening to me! :devil:

Interesting.
I'm glad you mentioned that poem - I was going to do it as well. I really liked the under-text going on there. There's more to it than meets the eyes, and that last couplet is superb.

Monday's New Poems Reviews...

I am in the midst of a wake-inducing vanilla latte. To the dear kind soul who thought to make home espresso machines, I thank you, whoever you are.

And now, for the New Poems , of which there are twenty...

Denied
by V Noire

I can't decide if this would be improved by ending punctuation. As is, the lack of it makes the read a bit...fitful, the reader uncertain of where the pauses should and shouldn't be, which seems to sharply contrast the precision of the wording and clear expression of thought.

This cherry blossom falls
and rests her head on my shoulder
Her lullaby works in reverse, stirring the monolith submerged
Her narcotic already weaves its mercurial talents
and I am held fast by my own desires

Punctuation or no punctuation, this is more than well-worth the read. Please encourage this new poet (new to the site, but most certainly not new to poetry).

Phantasmagoria.
by taikutsuna

This is a head-long, all-out (I hesitate to call it a poetic rant, but it has that ranty feel)...but I like it. The smattering of rhyme and the smack..smack..smack pacing of the poem make me like it.

Mother Earth
by RhymeFairy

The words are lovely, but I find myself uncertain of what the author actually wants to get across to the reader. A few missing apostrophes here and there, and some of the commas mid-line seem misplaced, hampering the flow.

Black Rose
by cward2

Of this poet's postings today, this is my favorite. I wish there was a way to get rid of the 'and' in the forth line, but it seems meant to be there. Short, dark, and thought-provoking.

Round and round and down
by b8dreth

I liked the feel and flow of this, the interesting use of imagery. My only wish is that the closing thought could be more tied into the poem, instead of feeling...added on.

**

Those are my thoughts for the day. Please feel free to add those you enjoyed if I've neglected them, and have a great week. :)

Just checked, and there are more new ones. Reviews coming shortly...

There are 51 poems posted for today, give or take one, depending on if I counted them too quickly. ;)

More poems for your perusal and enjoyment...

Drumming Decadence
by Curiouswife

The first two stanzas felt a little...list-like compared to the compelling nature of the following three.

So much to hide
and slyly gratify
I can’t contain the smile
as I sneakily undress

This has a delicious, cat-eyeing-the-canary feel that I very much enjoyed.

a thousand days under the sun
by Liar

The white-on-black feel of this resonates, its simplicity mixed with an open-ended, feel that well-matches its topic.

The Ballet School
by Tristesse

This beautifully expresses both the grace and pain of ballet. The blending in of ballet steps is done cleanly, and it feels unforced and natural.

Rain Dance
by sweet GA peaches

To me, this would be so much better condensed. The rhythm and flow are delightful, but the wording is...almost too much. But this:

Least not
a tender moment
that you and I
could share
this dance
bare,

feet naked,
In puddles.

This, I love.

The New Poems list was a motorized sushi bar this morning: by the time I decided on yellow-fin tuna it had been snapped off the belt by minions back in the kitchen. There are somewhere between 8 and 20 poems, I think.

Ah, here is fresh water eel…

One of the best authors currently contributing at Lit, bogusbrig, takes into Flight: a dynamic mix of prose and poetry that simultaneously evokes Dante and Bernoulli. It opens thusly:
The excitement of flight is in the anxiety
That into the machine man has designed his fallibility
....

Ancient117331 offers Monday, a tribute to a growing relationship that suffers from stilted language and imagery, but pleasant nonetheless.

Slippery Slope - a little ditty by Savannah Skye is a fairy tale of heartbreak and gender-specific behavior. I’m not sure I get the title, though.

dorksicle gives a very nice a tribute to a disabled relative that is rescued by plain language and sincerity in Madison.

A pile of poems by new author sweet GA peaches. Down Pour is less dramatic and more playful than the others as she flirts with sentence and line structure. Dare I call it “exotica”?

Washed Away by Curiouswife is another of her very strong stories of abuse. The poet keeps her anger in check, and the result is a clean and powerful poem.

Finally, the incomparable annaswirls asks how do you do it, and takes us into the dumps of eviscerating poverty. This one is a must read for its striking imagery.

I found two New Poets in the list: Lieren and intuition897. Stop by and give them some love.

There are four poems that are part of a challenge (Pendulum Swings Awry), but I am led to believe that traditionally the person issuing the challenge reviews these. I believe that is The Fool, so I will stand back from the crazy swing of these pieces.

I always thought that was a rather silly tradition. :p:p

Of the four, I would highlight sophia jane's Pendulum Swings Awry, because it's the one with the most acute sense of rhythm, in my opinion. Its swing is never awry.

But I would recommend the reading off all four. One of the best things of these challenges is to see how different poems take the same seed and depart on such wildly diverse directions:

17th August, 2005

Hello, poets-

I was entertained reading the new poems and wondering when was today's reviewer going to pop up and post something, when I realised today is Wednesday and I was the one who was supposed to be doing that. Sorry for the delay. :D

There are 20 new poems posted today, from 18 different poets. Here are some that caught my eye:

-------------------------------------------------
Pendulum Swings Awry
by Tristesse ©

Another Pendulum poem. It may have been belated, but Tristesse certainly rose to the challenge. It contains one of the most poignant descriptions I have read in a while. It has a prosaic feel, but that only drives the nail further.

-------------------------------------------------
Seeing
by bobdavies ©

This one grew on me with each read. The image has some potential, and self-reflexive poetry is always fun.

-------------------------------------------------
Be Still
by powertothepeople ©

In my opinion, this was today's best surprise. I wasn't caring much for it at the start, even if the language was careful and precise, but the second part of this short poem grabbed me. Worth a read or three.

-------------------------------------------------
Zoom
by neonurotic ©

A proto-illustration or just a teaser? Now I want to see the photo. :D

-------------------------------------------------
Tapestry
by impressive ©

An incredibly textured erotic poem, wonderful images and word choices. The words melt.

-------------------------------------------------
I Sing
by b8dbreth ©

A beautiful bittersweet poem, with a very good flow.

-------------------------------------------------
High
by Linderella ©

Just a fun read. ;)

-------------------------------------------------

That's it for today. Read, vote, comment, and have fun.

I will fill in...

Forgive my taking the wheel for the night... These is my short list on a short night!
Starting with Tathagata and "Divine Excavation"

http://english.literotica.com:81/stories/showstory.php?id=214578

Sends the reader on a trip down metaphor lane. Excellent imagery, and in all a read worth the time.

There is good reading in catmajica's "Red". With the tiny exception of one cliche that could be fixed, this is a creative example of less is more. Especially loved the beginning and the ending!

http://english.literotica.com:81/stories/showstory.php?id=214500

Last, but not least, is "Sestina" by Sexxydevil69. I loved the depth and flow of this. It carries the reader deep into the mind of the subject, the little corner of the mind that tells lots, but knows little.

http://english.literotica.com:81/stories/showstory.php?id=211392

There are others as well, but that's my pick of the lot!

Ok Lets get started.

There are 26 New Poems for Saturday 20th August, here are my favourites.

First up is

Naked Nudity (sestina) by Champagne1982.

I was not overly familliar with this form so I looked it up and I think Carrie has done a wonderful job with what I think is a very tricky form.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then we have
fresh sweet corn, next right by Eileen82
This poet has 2 poems out today but this is my favourite. I loved the freshness of this piece.
<clip>
Words left unsaid in the foreground of some dewy barn
and a backdrop of cornfields
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Worship me on Sunday
by Curiouswife.

A naughty erotic read which really will make you want to go to church on Sunday!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now we have a new poet on Lit with
Remember by Soccergrrl
I'm not too keen on the title but I really enjoyed the darkness of this piece and the raw emotion in which it is written.
<clip>
I have cried until I shivered
I have screamed at people
not there
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Next up is

A little something for dessert by MuseShadow.

This poet has 3 new poems out today but this one is by far my favourite. A deliciously yummy erotic poem which had me hooked on the first line...

A freshly torched crème brulee.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Surrogate Sin by Impressive.
A naughty religious piece of erotica that is sure to get your pulse racing.
<clip>
For thine is the kingdom
and the power
and the cock.
Now that is my kind of prayer!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Peace Within Her Space is the first of 2 poems by The_Fool.

A wonderfully written erotic poem here and the sensual imagery is seductive as hell. A very sexy must read poem!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last but not least is
Broken Teddy As My Heart
by Saldne.
A revised poem from 2004 that I really enjoyed.
<clip>
Blanket holds me tight, pillow
drenched in tears, teddy
thrown to floor;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ok so those are my reccomendations for today, as always if there are any you have enjoyed that I havent mentioned please come back and post them here.

So go Read, Vote, Comment and Enjoy all these wonderful poems.... :rose:

Sunday reviews

Good morning all.. it is Sunday .. gray heavy clouds gush wetness all around me in the wee hours of the AM.. perfect timing for poetry reading...

So here are the Sunday reviews:

Sins Dessert by RhymeFairy ©

This poet has two selections to make us sizzle. The first is a visual feast!

drink the sin, from my
lips, of lechery. taste
my juice, of jasmine
jelly. lick, till you
drop.

The flow is wonderful and you float into the desires of the poet. A simple style that allows the complexity of desire to overwhelm the reader.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Sins and Desire by sweet GA peaches ©

the sun has faded to the call of night,
an open window fucking candlelight
and my tongue licking the air for your scent.
crisp cotton sheets that once held a line,
to a summers breeze,
waiting now on love's intent

A wonderful look at an age old belief sex, desire as sin....

The poet uses unique descriptions here for everyday items. The scene is set within the shadows of our own desires. A haunting call to the candlelight of the poets sensual nature...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Slipping the Pool by sensuall ©

In comes the candidate for thrusting
All for tantalizing
She'll keep fisting with wavy covers
Snorting and flaunting
He'll sense the seismic glee
Let's join and yank
That thonged restraint

A hot little number that makes one visualize bodies mangled and tangled in the hot summer glee of the town pool....

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

A Yellow Rose-a song's worth by My Erotic Tale ©

The piano man sat behind a tip jar grinning
crackled his fingers with a hand woven spin
Barkeep wiped the glasses to sparkle and glow
swinging doors swung behind a Yellow Rose.

The poet has once began to spin a fascinating tale of his newest Texan female heroine.... the scene setting is prepared nicely and I see improvement in the poet's writing as he is economical with his writing and style. I am sure we all look forward to the next chapter.........

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

POEM OF THE DAY

Snapdragons by seannelson ©

No quote here because it is a powerful short poem that draws the reader in and delivers a haunting pull at one's soul, mind and heart with the finish. I loved the flow that builds to the cresting of the snapdragons bloom...

So all there you have it ... There were many poems out there to read... so please if you feel that pull from a poem and want to have others see the wonders of the poets pen.... go ahead and post it on the thread...

Happy writing....
Joyous reading
Kind critical commenting
and
Fair voting...
Happy a great day
Du Lac~ :catroar:

Monday's New Poems Reviews

Coffee in hand, it's time for poetry.

Demure
by The_Fool

My favorite for the day, this poem is written with a soft touch that follows the nature of its topic. The language is lovely, as is the rhythm. My only question--> The flow of the poem seems to stop abruptly with 'and demure' instead of ending in a manner befitting the feel of the poem. That said, I don't see a way around ending in that fashion. A conundrum, as it were. :) Go read this.

The Shoes
by Miyan

This is a deliciously wicked peek at a woman's confessed teasing. It could do with some tweaking, but more than worth the read as is.

The Coming of Autumn
by cward2

This poet has five postings today, but this is the one I enjoyed most of the lot. Then again, I get a little muddled when I have so much of a poet to read at once. Please, tease me with one, not inundate with five. :)

I love this image of autumn, the use of images to create color as description.

***

As always, these are just my thoughts, to be taken as they are, nothing more and nothing less. Happy reading!

New Poems

WTF? Someone picked the all M&Ms out of my trail mix! Whoever pulled the quality poems off the New Poems side, put them back!

This is an awkward review. After reading every single one of the new poems for this day I heartily recommend reading: none of them. There is nothing of any real merit there at all. There are poems by The Fool, Reltne and Curiouswife, all competent poets, but none up to their usual snuff. There is a My Erotic Tale piece, but he hardly needs me to coral the fan club. Man Ray even wrote one addressed to me but, well, if I didn’t enjoy it you certainly won’t.

Am I just crabby today? Have I missed something? Somebody tell me if my skull thickened overnight.

There are a pile of new poets: feed them and maybe we will get meatier stuff tomorrow. Read Kettle Corn, MagicWolf7, The Fisherman, Myalyn, mee_kah, ladybutterflybbw, SEVERUSMAX and arisia.

Then go write.

Logophile's new poems

I really enjoyed Logophile's two recent new poems. Poem-stories is more like it, as they read like prose. But the ambiguous emotions of a lost love are expertly caught, and frankly, everything this author writes is kissed by genius!!

24th August, 2005

Hello, poets-

Let me first say that I've been tremendously busy today with backstage work here at the board, so my time for reviews is a bit limited. For that reason, I admit that my mind may not have been entirely on it, when I went through today's new poems, but there was only one that struck me as truly deserving the mention:

-------------------------------------------------
Sterilized
by neonurotic ©

I believe the best thing i can say about it is that it immediately reminded me of this other poem, by Billy Collins:

Introduction to Poetry

I ask them to take a poem
and hold it up to the light
like a color slide

or press an ear against its hive.

I say drop a mouse into a poem
and watch him probe his way out,

or walk inside the poem's room
and feel the walls for a light switch.

I want them to waterski
across the surface of a poem
waving at the author's name on the shore.

But all they want to do
is tie the poem to a chair with rope
and torture a confession out of it.

They begin beating it with a hose
to find out what it really means.
-------------------------------------------------

There are only 16 new poems posted, so I encourage you to take a few minutes to browse for yourself and find your own favourites of the day. :)

A recommendation

This poem
too late - duckiesmut

Though I know it is " unfinished"
it has a nice feel and rhythm to it..and some delicate phrasing.
also the colors make it seem like a pastel drawing.
And the last verse seals it up nicely.
Not to shabby for something " still in progress'
:D

I found a hidden lil treasure my friends. I was surprised no one mentioned
this one from 08-23-05. A new poet here. Already posted another since.
I do apologize for this being late. Just happened to see it, and wanted to give it a mention. I think it has potential. Just me ~ *grins*

This one might surprise ya, a lil.

New Poems of Thursday August 25, 2005

There are 16 new submissions on this the fourth Thursday of August to read as of now, and as always I bring you one non-erotic "spinner" from the archives.

Today's Golden Oldie:
This poem I spun-up from a year and two days ago. - It took me 15 spins to find this poem by Liar. This poet never disappoints and often amazes me with his poetic command of the English language.

Today's poem has a 4.64 rating and of course has a H. I will just let it speak for itself. :rose:
Hands Feel Your Poetry Burning

For those who can notice such things,
these walls must roar
in echo of sentences never spoken,
and other ungodly expressions never exclaimed
into the stale air, this perpetual stench,
indecisives' sweat impregnated
in eiderdown, oak and leather.

Amateur Hour recorded rhetorics
whispers past failures back at us.
Not that I listen anyway,
my focus strained to your voice
and your voice alone.

I knew you would choose your blues
for this karaoke kick with too much care.
It is open night on spit, and the mike
that is my perception, erect, anticipating
your growl and grip, is primed for action.
Satisfaction is a deepthroat grunt
of passing thresholds unknown to science.

And I wait, I wait,
I god damn piously wait for you
to stop talking...

...and start speaking.

You own the words... you carry them
like nitro, locked in a Pandora's Box,
suppressed to oblivion and shame.
But as tangible as your name.

Words you could never commit
to runes linked - they would scorch paper,
and wreak havoc if digitally committed
to transport through a fatal pixel push.

But spoken,
cutting and fusing new neural paths,
they would static charge your spine
and taste like scotch and semen
on your tongue...

...a semantic Sangreal spell that would
let me tear that skimpy see-though
Freudian slip right off your burning blush,
and pin your self promotion banter
to the nearest wall.

Teeth would sink softly into succulent flesh,
and god almighty, if you scream
and sing the way you can - between whimper
and borderline laughs - my Kool-Aid plasm will
once and for all purify into the true red
that paints your cheeks
in the complexion of clandestine claims.

One breath would drown in the other's salt,
and there would be no safety fuse...

...not since you scoured your closet
for the perfect mask, a deck of trump excuses,
and found that beautiful veil.
The only reason we'd ever need
to unleash each other's beasts.

Only then, you see,
only then can we cast aside
the robes, Jante's fine tuned straight jackets,
and leave this room as true humans...

...who didn't cower and shrink
to misconceptions of disapproval dreads,
who have no chains and will carry,
with pride, halos of splinter identities
in a sand paper smoothed world.

Speak, I beg you, speak those words
and shatter something still unknown
inside of me into glass dust
that can burn my veins clean,
tear those optic synapses apart
and let your ethereal fire forge me
sapient once more.

If those words and this room,
whatever it is that so desperately needs
to resound in here, can't heal us,
right this moment,
nothing ever will.

Of the sixteen poems today there are six listed as erotic, eight as non-erotic, and two as illustrated. The two illustrated poems are both by turtledove and both share the common theme of northern New England back country, an area I know well. Early Morning Mountain Mist is about sunrise in the white Mountains. Unfortunately I think the excellent title and the words promise more than the photo in the size displayed delivers.
Her second poem is titled Moose Hunting has the same problem as well as some faltering metre and rhyme strain, but what the heck, it is about God’s country so you have to go read it! ;) :p ;)

***

Of the six erotic poems I would suggest that you might enjoy Bent by RhymeFairy . The better of her two posted today IMO.

***

Heaven's Half Note by elron77 a fairly new contributor to the Lit. scene, is the best structured of today’s erotic offerings.
Green eyes, with golden threads like spangles run
I cannot see them now in neon glow
Nor from moonlight bathing the stonecutter’s door
Secluded nook to escape the thronging flow

Ten thousand souls around had left their shell
Distressed not by our rendezvous
To find a private moment in the night
Immersed in wine and gentle song and you
. . .
***

Finally, another erotic worth a look is Wicked by sweet GA peaches. The rhyme scheme is not perfect and the poet uses the small “i” affectation, but the short line length helps the poem flow and it does not resort to street language.

***

Of the eight non-erotic poems there are two by longtime Lit. member, but relatively infrequent contributor, Jenna Grey. Her first, crushed garlic compares life to culinary chores and both need seasoning. This poem has some great lines like: :rose:
. . .
the pungent scent of life
curls through my consciousness.
crushed dreams await seasoning,
simmering in the back of my mind.
. . .
Jenna's second offering is a retrospective titled etched in poetry. It too is worth a read. I would like to see new work by this poet far more often, but perhaps she is a perfectionist and insists on getting everything just the way she wants it before showing her words to the world. She certainly has plenty of Hs for her stories.

***

Another writer we do not see enough of is Bill Dada. Today he offers us two little shorties, Artificial Illumination and Found Poem #3. Some might ask if these are poetry or just intriguing phrases. Whichever, I enjoy things like this.

***

Perhaps it is the hurricane, but I don't think this poem by one of Lit's best poets, annaswirls , is as good as some of the others she has recently shared. However, it is by Anna which means it has some very good phrases and imagery. So go read it and see what you think.

***

Finally, for the MET fans there is another Yellow Rose episode by My Erotic Tale . This one is A Yellow Rose: Dance card's full

***

Taste is always an individual thing so there may certainly be other poems out there today that you will thoroughly enjoy. If you find ones you really like on the New Poems page, please come back and tell us about them!

And please remember that our poets need your support, so Read Vote Comment Feedback. It won’t come back around if you don’t send it out! ;)

Regards, Rybka

To A Poet, Who Would Have Me Praise Certain Bad Poets. . .
You say, as I have often given tongue
In praise of what another's said or sung,
'Twere politic to do the like by these;
But was there ever dog that praised his fleas?

I was holding back. Trying to be impartial.
Yet, one has struck my fancy the most.
So I have to give it another mention.
I love erotic, ya'll know that, but this one ...
