Wow - I go take a brief nap and THIS is what has happened to my thread...shaved and oversized testicles

Just so everyone knows - my 40th birthday IS coming up soon so cake is completely appropriate. Chocolate or vanilla? Hmm, decisions......

Half-and-half. One side chocolate, one side vanilla.

*Sigh* so now I want another tattoo, know placement but not design, AND a small tiny stud in my nose.

Some might (and have) say I am having a "mid-life" crisis as I approach my 40th birthday. I like to think that I have spent too much time living my life according to what others have expected of me, appearing the way they felt I should. I'm letting go of those expectations, both internally and externally.

Or maybe I am just having a mid-life crisis and in a year from now I'm going to wake up and go, "Crap! I have all these tattoos and piercings and my life is all different!" ;)

I have never understood why it's called a 'mid-life crisis', emphasis on the crisis here.

It seems strange how a person can be frowned upon during a period of reinventing themselves just because they reach a certain age. We can change our outlook on life throughout until somehow we are supposed to peak at a conservative point and embrace that conservatism until we die. Embrace the so called crisis, the worst that can happen is you learn from it, whether it be good or bad.

In addition, tattoo wise, go for it. I often have an idea then let my tattooist add to it with his imagination, obviously you need to trust their wisdom.

Go with that carpe diem thing, next year will sort itself out :)

I love that you put this into words - I do feel that I have truly been living a "carpe diem" lifestyle recently! :rose:

Honesty, if anything I was in "crises" mode up until recently. I feel as if I'm living life more freely now that I really don't care what people think. I think I shall start referring to that time in life as a "pre-life crisis."

And while I love books, I guess I should NOT cover myself in art dedicated solely to them. I'd like to do something to honor my son - the true Prince Charming in my life. How desperately I prayed for a girl so I'd have someone to dress up, play dolls with, and take to the theater - now it's baseball games, camping...and still the theater ;)
