I have not done a thing, the moss developed over those rocks for the last few years. Those are actually broken pieces of the old promenade that they chiseled apart to make way for the new one.

Are the little blocks in the water some kind of breakwater to diffuse the wave action on the shoreline?

New York looks very cool in that light Kitkat. TC is right, the rocks(?) looked like they have been carefully placed, under a bridge (?)

Nice work Phil. You go to a good deal of trouble but it certainly pays off. The photos are soooooo crisp and the watch almost jumps off the screen. Is that your Sony camera?

Not a Sony, not yet. That's my Konica Minolta 7D. I took the behind-the-scenes pictures with an even older Olympus C5050Z compact zoom camera. It's been so long since I used that one that it took me five minutes just to figure out the flash settings.

The top-of-the-line Sony DSLR has been available for a couple years now, so it's due for a refresh. I'll probably buy whatever comes next.

I noticed you used a paper roll? Does the paper come in a roll or in single sheets eg 3m x 6m.

Could've sworn you had a Sony.

I think that is a possibility. There are some near the Brooklyn Bridge that have been there for decades.

The background paper comes only in rolls, I believe, though I'm sure you can find large sheets of paper. The advantage of a roll is the ability to trim off damaged sections and just pull a few more feet when you need to. The rolls come in 9-foot (3m) and 12-foot (4m) wide rolls, usually in lengths of up to 50 yards (46m). There are even wider rolls available, but they have to be special ordered.

Sony acquired KM's camera division a few years back and they both use the same lens mount, so I may have mentioned the ability to use a Sony lens on my KM body, and I'll eventually replace this body with a Sony DSLR and my existing Minolta lenses will work fine on the Sony.

Some skimmers from Miami Beach. Again, I may have shared some of these before, so if they seem familiar, I apologize.

Skimboards, unlike surfboards, have no skegs (fins) underneath and they are designed to be used in the very shallow water at the shoreline. The riders will run across the beach and throw the board in front of them as they reach the water. Then they jump onto the board and skim along the surface onto the faces of the breaking waves.

It's great for me because they are only twenty to thirty feet away, so I can use my standard lens and get nice, close photos. Surfers are usually much further out and require the use of a very long (expensive) lens.

Oh, wow. I really like this. How did you know I have a thing for shiny, jet black hair?

The surfing pics remind me of a few tricks I tried last summer.........................yeah right, I'd break my neck if I tried anything like that! Such great shots Phil.

Love the colours in you shot there 85Bird.

I'm never sure what to post in here; but I'll give these a go. There is an attraction on the mid north coast of NSW called Timbertown.............as the name suggests it is a re creation of a timber milling settlement from the 1800's. It is a faithful replica with everything from stores, a mill, woodturners to a steam railway. We usually visit there once a year. They have great tucker!

Love that train! I vaguely remember hearing the word "tucker" a long time ago, but still wanted to look it up. Hehee. Love those Aussie slang words. :)

Tucker = food :)

They make great steak sandwiches and chips etc. at one of the eateries there. It's just about time to head up there again. Getting hungry thinking about it! :D

Don't forget to bring back some takeout for us! :D

But seriously, I love pics of the culture, especially 'back country' culture.

Thanks Richard!

I had a photo shoot scheduled today with one of the models I've shared here before, but it was postponed due to the rainy weather. Instead I decided to go out with my camera and umbrella and find something to take a picture of. I had a pretty good day!

Sadly, some of my favorite subjects, the iguanas, weren't around today. I wondered if the garden staff had finally succeeded in eradicating their population (they are terribly destructive to the plants and flowers of the garden), but forgot to ask on my way out.

Great pics Kitkat!

Phil, your images are always technically pleasing, and often thought-provoking! ;)

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!
