Is a non-erotic photo thread okay for Ampics?

Along these lines, I wish Lit would move away from Forums to more of a Profile based service like FetLife so people can share what they want in their profile the way they want to.

What fantastic photos Phil, particularly the sepia effect, gives them a genuine 'period' look. They could be scenes from a new movie, or an old one for that matter.

Great expressions you've captured on the participants faces: In the third photo, they look genuinely concerned.

One can't help thinking that so long ago, the soldiers who took part in the real battles of the day were just like the rest of us and would've been scared to death. The last photo is a case in point and quite tragic.

Thanks, Richard.

Most of the re-enactors take their "job" very seriously. Still, it was sometimes tricky to get a clean shot of everyone doing what they were supposed to be doing. They have fun with it and I got a lot of photos where someone was grinning ear-to-ear as they charged across a field into enemy fire. Or chatting while "dead" on the battlefield. Overall, the impression was very convincing and the medical demonstration after the fighting was so good that more than a few people were weepy when the patient died on the table. I admit I was moved. My mother was with me and I think it hit her hard to see a soldier die in war when both of her sons used to be in the military. (She always worried about us.)

Excellent images all. One question, have you taken a look at Alienskin Exposure 3? If you're interested go here and download the demo:

Try the "Effects" feature for openers. Great fpr these kinds of images.

The only problem I have with AlineSkin software is the lack of Aperture compatibility. Nik Software makes Color Efex Pro and Silver Efex Pro plug-ins that do everything the Exposure software does from within Aperture. The reason I stopped using Photoshop was because I hated having to switch to another application when I was working. Aperture does for me everything I need to do, including (with the newest version) subtle local adjustments such as dodging and burning parts of the image.

While even the best digital camera doesn't quite have the dynamic range of film, the innumerable benefits outweigh whatever small advantage film ever had. And software like this just serves to narrow that small gap.

Fantastic pictures

I have been following this thread off and on since it started and have been wondering whether or not to contribute, as the standard of images is so very high.

So here goes nothing.

Simplest thing for you to do Snorky is click on 'Quote' at the bottom of this message and look at the 'code' before and after the 'image link':

attachment.php

You know how to upload an attachment, all you need to do from there is to right-click on the image name (after the upload) and choose 'copy image location' (this phrase may be slightly different depending upon your OS and browser), then 'paste' that URL into your post, with the 'code' before and after it.

Hope that helps.

The depth of colour in that shot is gorgeous mate, nicely done

Thanks, everyone. It looks like the MobileMe servers are down right now. It should be fixed shortly. Sorry for the image placeholders!

EDIT: It's back to normal. Weird.

New version of an old favorite.

I've posted this photo before, but I've been revisiting some old images and thought I'd share a new version.

Taken from the side of the road at a tree farm near Ocala, FL. It was late and the light was fading, so I quickly set up my tripod for an eight-second exposure. There was no other traffic on the road and the only sound was of light rain in the trees and intermittent chirps of insects.
