Ekserb, I just cant take my eyes off that shot... something about it is really eerie, yet at the same time I cant stop looking at it.
Excellent work sir

Well, that was the intended effect! Thank you!

Motorcycle Pictures

Have had a couple of people ask about my bike. So here is a picture of the one I have now (green and silver one) and the one that I lost in a fire June 2009. As you can see before the fire, it was a sweet bike.

I've posted this photo before, but I've been revisiting some old images and thought I'd share a new version.

Taken from the side of the road at a tree farm near Ocala, FL. It was late and the light was fading, so I quickly set up my tripod for an eight-second exposure. There was no other traffic on the road and the only sound was of light rain in the trees and intermittent chirps of insects.

WOW...this is haunting.

I really like this picture....one raked out front end of a bike and you get a wonderful effect with that front tire out so much further from the rest...

Thank you! That is one of my favorite pictures ever, and I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

ok, here goes...

You're welcome. :)

I think the green & silver bike looks nicer than the one that burned.

Well the trunk helps a lot for trips and easy access to camera, etc. It does have more horsepower, 100cc more and fuel injection. Almost a full gallon larger gas tank is a plus too!!!!

The one that burned was a first year model 1999 Nomad and the green/green ones were stunning. The nostalgia of a first year model was nice and I would have loved to kept it just for that reason. Oh well..

These two are my favorites. The first I like for the great atmosphere and algae-covered rocks. The second could be a little brighter and I would have cropped a little off the top, but I love the texture of the beach.

Eureka Springs Arkansas 2005

These were taken at a bike rally. The Crescent Hotel is said to be haunted and the area around there is just beautiful!!!!

Here are some more of this old hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

The hotel really is beautiful but between the dark interior and that pitiful ceiling fan light....oh well, I tried...

This is when a small tripod comes in handy. Turn off the camera's flash and turn the Mode Dial to "Night" to let the camera pick a longer shutter speed.

(I should create a post showing the incredible difference between on-camera flash and natural lighting.)

I'm talking really small. No need to spend more than fifteen to twenty dollars on something you'll want to fit in your purse.

The advice I give for people looking for a camera applies here, so I'll paraphrase: The ten dollar tripod you will carry with you is better than the thousand dollar tripod that stays at home because you didn't feel like lugging it around.

From Wikipedia:

The scientific name "Lycaon pictus" is derived from the Greek for "wolf" and the Latin for "painted". It is the only canid species to lack dewclaws on the forelimbs.
Adults typically weigh 18–34 kilograms (40–75 lb).[3] A tall, lean animal, it stands about 75 centimetres (30 in) at the shoulder, with a head and body length averaging about 100 centimetres (39 in) long with a tail of 30 to 45 centimetres (12 to 18 in). Animals in southern Africa are generally larger than those in eastern or western Africa.
