No, I didn't get this on the first attempt. Or the second or third. I dropped the bobber into several different glasses a total of about thirty times, experimenting with different water levels and shapes of glass. It turns out you have to use a glass that is just slightly larger than the object being dropped into it and you have to fill the glass right to the top. Both of these combine so the water is mostly displaced by the dropped object and is forced to shoot out in an appealing splash.

I started with a marble and the results were laughable: Almost no splash at all.
