I'm going to say this one is my favorite, but I'm always biased towards black and white images. :)

It's in Eastern Washington. I don't know the history on it. It's on Someones property in the middle of the wheat fields. For as any years as I've driven over, it's been in that condition. All I have heard was that there was a fire many years ago, that it was a small town church many years ago. I'm just not sure how many years ago or how many years ago the fire happened.

I love this one.

Thank you!

Made these the other day after breakfast. I was feeling extra froggy, so I drove a short distance into the forest and hiked a path along the river looking for photos. It was very cold and wet and I kept tripping on little cypress knees all over the place, but I loved being out in the woods with no one around and a light mist dripping through the trees.

Amazing photography, skillfully captured stillness

Thanks. I added a fourth image to the post. I wasn’t sure if the new one was too similar to another I posted, but decided it was able to stand on its own.

Whew! I’ve been on a roll lately. Here’s a few from last night.

We had fog all over Ocala starting just after sunset and getting denser through the night. By midnight it was pretty thick, so I drove around looking for interesting scenes.

In this 20-second exposure, the train is just a blur as it passes the station:

Several months ago I picked up a piece of rusty sheet metal to use as a textured surface in a tabletop studio setup. I finally got around to using it and these are some of the results:

Maybe I shouldn’t have gone out last night. I’m so tired! I think it was worth it, though.

At one point, this very long freight train came to a stop with the locomotive nowhere near the platform. All I could hear was a second train that came through while this one was stopped. I thought it might be cool to get a shot from the other side and stared at the wheels and undercarriage of the cars, wondering if I could sneak underneath to the other side before the train moved. I decided that was a stupid idea and I was right—after a few minutes the cars just started moving with no warning of any kind. I thought maybe I would hear the connections binding up as the locomotive started to move, but that wasn’t the case. They just started moving and far too quickly for me to get out of the way if I had been underneath, especially with a tripod and camera.

I’ve decided that shooting at night is much better when the sky is filled with fog or clouds. Without them to reflect the ground-based lights, the sky is just a black hole. With the relatively bright background, however, the shapes of the buildings and everything else are well defined without the distractions of other buildings in the background.
