Noticed a nasty trend with the loving wives catagory

On this topic, I'm going to quote a passage written by @PennyThompson in our joint LW story - yes it received some 'I don't want this pyschobabble' response, but it also got some really positive engagement.

______________

(scene is between daughter Izzy and her estranged parents, with first person narration from the Mom)

"Mom, I know you're familiar with Immanuel Kant..." Izzy said, turning to me. Oh Goddess, I'm about to be lectured by a First-Year.

"Yes, dear, I know Kant. History's original 40-Year-Old Virgin. Give an upper-middle-class white guy a little education and he decides that he alone knows how the entire universe functions."

"Ad hominem," Izzy shot back, tapping one finger on the crayon pyramid while waving her other hand like she was shooing away a fly. "Address the idea, not the incel. Okay, back to Kant. The Categorical Imperative, 'Act only according to the maxim whereby you can at the same time will that it should become a universal law.' You and Dad were trapped in an impossible dilemma, any choice that you made would have caused harm. But by withholding the truth from Dad while he was away, you willed that transparency and honesty should not be a universal law."

Brad nodded thoughtfully. "So it's about consistency of action. Developing a code of honor and sticking to your guns."

It's always about guns, is it Bradley? I thought. But at least he was listening.

I sighed heavily. "Fine, Izzy. What do you think we should have willed as a universal law when our marriage was collapsing around us?"

"Communication. Empathy. Entertaining the possibility of reconciliation and forgiveness."

And I'd been worried about Bradley and guns. Izzy had just shot me down with a Patriot missile.

But of course, we all know that @Actingup made a deal with the devil in order to write LW stories successfully...
