Washington (CNN) – The threat of ISIS is continuing to grow in certain areas despite the setbacks from U.S. led airstrikes a top intelligence official said Tuesday.

In testimony before the House Armed Services Committee, Lt. Gen. Vincent Stewart, Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, said the group has been able to extend its reach beyond its bases in Iraq and Syria.

“With affiliates in Algeria, Egypt, Libya, the group is beginning to assemble a growing international footprint that includes ungoverned and under governed areas,” Stewart said in prepared testimony to discuss various threats emanating from around the world.

Stewart also said the numbers of foreign fighters flowing in and out of Iraq and Syria is “troubling,” as the United States expects ISIS to continue its outreach to members of the global extremist movement as a way to boost its numbers.

As the United States works to train and help build the capacity of the Iraqi security forces to eventually dislodge ISIS from Iraq, Stewart warned the Iraqis still have a long way to go.

Most soldiers with a brain realize getting deployed to escort Halliburton's empty trucks around Iraq so they can bill the US for the fuel at an ultra fucking inflated price and their 100k/4mo driver (who is only getting paid about 1/3 of that) among a whole laundry list of scamming bullshit practices and Taco Bell/McD's/Wally World and others setting up shop in a new market is the REAL reason we are there.

That was the reason we went to war with Iraq....Taco Bell, because freedom yo. Afghanistan? We did that for Heroine.....big time. You can't tell me a month after we show up a bunch of 3rd world dirt worshiping idiots stuck in the dark ages were trafficking 2/3's of the US' heroine supply. 3 months they had almost total control of the US heroine market and a large portion of the global, by coincidence. We had entire companies (150 guys) that did nothing but protect the poppy farmers....while we took pics of burning the occasional pot farmers shit to the ground.

DEA/CIA like a mother fucker crawling around the afghan hills....protect some drug farmers but burn others. Classified bidnizz of course!! So they kept us in the dark about as much of it as they could....need to know only.

Mark my words when all these people are dead/gone and the grand kids crack the files about all this ship open so they can make a Discovery show about it, Iraq/Afghan are going to be known as the wars of corruption and greed.

Here's a "back in my day" story:

I have a worthless nephew who joined up and was sent to the Stan. Got his war tattoos; honey babies on his FB calling him a hero; comes home on leave with a sullen "war weary" look... turns out he was sitting in an air conditioned trailer skyping momma every night.

I went almost two years with no contact at all with my family (not that I really cared much). After that period, my first contact was waking up in ICU after medivac'd to Portsmouth Naval Hospital. The folks on one side of the bed and the guys in black suits on the other side.


Not to take anything away from those that get shipped to some shit-hole to protect the corporate interests, but if you are having Taco Bell every night and jacking off to Sally on Skype before hitting the rack; don't tell everyone you were sitting on the tip of the spear.

The most important lives on the battlefield are American lives. When we go to war we need to use the combat power of our military and stop trying to equivocate their civilian lives, or their military lives, with the lives of our own men. An old and wise Marine once said, "when you find yourself in a fair fight, it's because your tactics suck." We need to bring the kind of hell to Isis they brought to that Jordanian pilot. Bring back the flame thrower, F/A weapons, and Napalm...the proper military DDT for evil. Forget packing Gitmo.

We're talking about "justified," not "authorized." Hussein's government committed no acts of war against the U.S., was not supporting terrorism against the U.S., had no WMDs, and in fact represented no threat to the U.S. at all. Invading them after 9/11 was not only unjustified, it was insane; it was as if FDR had responded to Pearl Harbor by invading Brazil.

Islamic governments have not, unless ISIS counts, and ISIS is in no position to do much about it (and has not actually declared war on the U.S. AFAIK). Part of the group of Egyptian Islamists the State Department hosted a meeting for, then lied about it.

A Muslim Brotherhood member who recently was hosted at the State Department along with several of the Islamist group’s key allies now claims that a White House official also was present in that meeting, according to recent remarks.

Abdel Mawgoud al-Dardery, a Brotherhood member and former Egyptian parliamentarian, was in the United States late last month along with a delegation of fellow Brotherhood leaders and allies.

The Brotherhood-aligned delegation caused an international stir after the Washington Free Beacon revealed that it had been hosted for a meeting with several State Department officials.

Another member of the group, a Brotherhood-aligned judge in Egypt, posed for a picture while at Foggy Bottom in which he held up the Islamic group’s notorious four-finger Rabia symbol.

While the State Department initially misled reporters about the meeting, it was eventually forced to admit that several Obama administration officials—including a deputy assistant secretary for democracy, human rights, and labor—and State Department officials met with the delegation.

Al-Dardery now claims that in addition to these State Department representatives, a member of the White House also participated in the sit-down.
