OCC/Casting Call: Young Gods

Okay look at it this way, sure it's gunpowder which we with our 21st century knowledge have a clear understanding of, to these people such a thing would be a magical item saved for the most dire times, a blessing from the Eternal Gear and they would not think to replicate it's creation. If they wanted a new one they would have to make a quest to some distant corner of the globe to find the cast-off dust of Schloss Gearheart's cogs. They wouldn't be going, "We can make a hundred of these by mixing sulpher and so on", it would be "We used the Holy Fire of the Eternal Gear to slay the terrible ogre king fifty years ago, it's secrets are revealled to he who would make a pilgramage to the Mountain of Really Far Awayness and so on"

Then I wouldn't make this a major power, I'd make it something like a quest goal for those in the know.

The way it sounded before was like it would be readily available to them because it was your power.

As a quest...Alyiss would be intregided.

It is a Black House Cat. I like it's nature. Excelent hunters, seen almost any wear, a bad omen, and a kind pet.

The cat should sutie Olas's purposes quite well.

If I could lay my two cents in here, I don't know if it'd help, but I was thinking about the gun powder, and thought I would share with the rest of the group.

Part of the reason I don't like the gun powder, is because Eternal Gear is the god of progress, which means his followers would use this to, as their god suggests, make progress for themselves. It seems like he is a rational god, a thinking god. I don't think his followers would take such a wonderful, ignorant look at gun powder.
Then again, gun powder has been around for hundreds of years. We've known about it's powers since the Greek and Roman times. It didn't become a weapon until like the 15 hundreds for cannons. That's hundreds of years of just figuring out to put gun powder in a small space and then clog it with some sort of blunt object.

So, now that I've bashed both sides equally (to each, I'm sorr) I don't mind small pieces for his most loyal followers as a weapon to use. It's just a bomb, and it takes at least a handful of the stuff before it becomes useful to actually blow shit up. I don't think people need to wait years to accumulate them, but it shouldn't be common either. Small increment gifts to the most faithful, or a quest, whichever you want.

Oh, and just a small little clarification, Justice has the Cougar, not the Tiger. Just if your wondering. You get all the cats, except the Cougar, lol, unless you want joint custody. We could be linked by that, using the Cougar together... that'd be cool.

And finally (if you haven't had enough) I'll come up with powers soon enough, but I don't think I have enough followers to justify some more powers. So I'll keep what I have for now, and upgrade as soon as I feel like I am worthy.
There we go.

Oh you have the Cougar..... Hmmm, well then I'll take a puma with me instead. Oh, wait, they're the same thing.... Hmmm, well I'll go with the mountin lion. (Seriously if I use the same animal as Pooh, we have a major reason to work togeather, or fight, doesn't really matter. Just a good source for interaction.)

Misk, Goddess of Theives

Misk is small, quick, and dark. She's the goddess of theives.

Powers:

Blend in shadow
Climb anything
Lockmaking/picking

Symbol: Key with a skull
Animal: Common cat
Plant: Climbing Ivy (The better to scale your house my dear!)
Stone: Chalk

Her temples are also foundling homes/theives guilds where training takes place. In town theives tithe to the church, but when on the road they must bury or toss a portion of their loot into running water.

Can I be in Thalia too? It seems like the THE city as far as trade and etc right now.

I don't see why not, since you won't be in direct conflict with Pippit or Alyiss. In fact, Alyiss will strike up a deal with you to keep rodents out of her temples and the homes of her devote...de-voate...deavote....the people who follow her teachings closely. *smiles, and wonders "Where's my spelling buddy?"*

Bootsie I don't beleave we have met. Let me give a quick self intoduction. Meow.

And I'll coclude by saying I look forward to working with you.

Thank you! That's so sweet!

I wish I had house cats though. so sleek and stuff. But I've got rodents instead. :(

Does this mean we'll fight because your totem eats my totem?

Hunting and theiving isn't really that much different if you look at it from a long ways away. ;)

Well my orginal plan for Olas was going to have a dead mouse for his holy sybol, but then I said to myself "I don't think his subjects will carry it around with them."

I see no reason for us to have any long fights, constant bikering might happen though.

No way!

You could totally do it!

People carry around lucky rabbits feet don't they?
They are dead.

They would study it and they would want to replicate it but the Eternal Gear would not give them any clues, he would leave it as a puzzle. He would watch as they carefully experiment with the smallest fraction of the substance, watch them try to break it down. When they finally get it after lord knows how long it would be a grand step for progress.

Bunnies, I agree with you. I think you are absolutely right, in fact, if you'll read my second paragraph in the copy and past you did, I basically said the same thing. Even with progress, it would take a long time just to get a simple gun-like weapon made.
I'm glad we're on the same page.

Death! you killed my ancestors and have now come back for me! Well all I have to say is you'll never take me alive!

Gunpowder is fine by me, but for what ever reason I think it's not there as a weapon but instead as a tool, explosives speed up mineing do they not. Honest question bunnies, is that what you had in mind? Or did I go in a completely wrong direction here?

I'm sad to say that I'm dropping out of this thread:( . Unfortunately, my god doesn't really have any powerful characteristics to make him worshipped or to let him lead a city. Indeed, it seems the only thing he can do is craft little love potions. Also, I've got a really bad case of writers's block for this thread, which is even worse:( :( . I'll still read it, of course, as the premise is quite interesting and the writing is excellent, but I just can't figure out a way for Urthralis to gain any strong foothold. Sorry.:( :( :(

Well shoot, Mo!

:(

Of course, if you have writers block you have writers block. There's nothing that can be done about that.

Bootsie hasn't truly chosen a city yet. And I dont' think AB has either, so maybe one of them can take your city for you.

No reason to waste a perfectly good city! :)

I saw you space thread up and may join it after you get some details etc in there.

Good luck, and maybe you could swing by again sometime.

Mo, it will be sad to see you go. I agree with Polite, maybe in the future you will be able to rejoin us.

Bootsie, welcome to our dysfunctional family of Gods and Goddesses.

cats, since my totem is the wolf, which is essentially a dog, does that mean we are going to be enemies?:D

It looks like this thread is developing nicely.

I know on games like this it's soooo tempting to godmod and power play, but these are young gods and goddess in a new world at the verge of civilization.

Enjoy!

Cats, the idea is that eventually gunpowder would be used for utility purposes, but when you're talking about an age where iron has not yet been discovered and the threat of war with savages is always a danger, the most obvious application, as a weapon has a greater appreciation. Especially when supply is limited.
