I'm just wanting to see how much interest there is in it. Those things aren't easy to make and I would have to practice with both rubber rings and 45* seams, neither of which I have any experience with. I would also have to get the supplies and find out how to measure for the pattern... Again, these things are a lot of work (there's a reason they cost so much, folks) and I don't want it to go unappreciated.

Chainmaille isn't a fetish for me. It's just a hobby. But I've only made jewelry so far, not clothing. I'm not saying I'm going to make a full hauberk and coif and crap, I'm not into the armor look... But it has come up in PM that some of you may be interested in seeing me in chainmaille.

And before you say it, I'm not going to order one. These puppies cost $150+ and it's a LOT less if I just get the supplies and make it. Full armor sucks both in time and the wearing. The only reason I would make a hauberk would be to have a conversation piece at shows... "What the fuck is this?" "It's a chainmaille shirt that took me upwards of 200 hours to make and I only use it to get people's attention. Worked on you, didn't it?" You can see why I don't talk to a lot of people in public... >.>

I've never done any clothing, though the E4-1 and 6-1 patterns are mindnumbingly simple. Since I haven't done this before, 15 hours for the top is on the low side.

I've got the closures down well enough that I'm not too worried about pinching myself. It's when I try to make chains when I'm tired that things can get bad. I wouldn't want to make one for anyone else, though. I'd be too scared that I would miss a closure and scratch the hell out of some poor girls nipple.

Let me get through this project and then I'll worry about modifying any of it. It's daunting enough trying to figure out how many rings I'm going to need and how much it's going to cost without also trying to figure out how to put the holes in it.
