Old School Musicianship… Rock and Roll.. Jazz… Blues… Big Band even…

My love reminded of this.... and years ago, I used to play this in a garage band on guitar.

So cool!!!

Blackfoot - Train, Train

This is such a cool song... but OMG! That bass!!! There's a groove so cool... 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰

Stevie Wonder - Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)

Okay... after posting that masterpiece... what in F am I doing posting this??? No idea. I just suddenly thought of it, and always liked it.

Well... in my hot rod car, with the top down, cranked up stupid loud... on a fall evening...

Helix - Rock You

My special selection of a lullaby for my dearest @Rj_1954 ....

RJ... crank this bitch up. I'm sure the neighbors won't mind at all... (yeah, don't do that)

Judas Priest - Living After Midnight

Wow… that was really cool to hear All Night Long again. I didn’t realize how ling it has been since I heard it… funny how I love Joe Walsh, but frankly don’t care much for the Eagles. 🤷‍♀️

Well... hell... I'm in a mood... I need some Pat Travers...

Pat Travers - Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights)

I don't think I've posted this for a while.... this song haunted me for years, in a good way. So cool....

Billy Thorpe - Children Of The Sun

Might as well follow that up with another wild fantasy song that spurred my imagination....

I remember being mad as hell back in the day when my Portland radio station of choice (KGON 92.3 fm) would play that lame ass Pink Floyd song that sound so similar to this song. The Pink Floyd song is from "Wish You Were Here" and while I love that album, the song on it that sounds like this song? I hate it. This song is sooooo much better!!!!

Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe

I hated Steely Dan for years because in the song "Don't Take Me Alive" the bastards referenced Oregon... but said it like an idiot who clearly had never been there, because NOBODY in Oregon says it like that. And being born and raised there... Is was highly offended.

But one night... I saw an amazing band perform "My Old School".... with a personal friend of mine sitting in on guitar for a week or two (I don't remember now)... and my friend, Mike Doolin, absolutely delivered. Skunk Baxter's guitar solo in the original? Totally cool and amazing. Mike Doolin doing it live, a decade later, with a custom amp he himself built, and a guitar he probably built (can't say for sure), absolutely blew my mind. The horn section? Amazing. The bass and drums? I think they were both in "Nu Shooz" or something like that at the time, but they were incredible. The rest of the band was totally professional and amazing.

A few years later, I was blessed with the opportunity to play in cover bands around the Reno/Carson City/Lake Tahoe area. There was only once or maybe twice, I got a chance to be part of a performance that was a powerful as Mike Doolin did, that night, years before.

And from then on, I was a Steely Dan fan. I forgave them for committing the ultimate sin of mispronouncing Oregon. 🥰 🥰 🥰

Steely Dan - My Old School

I should go to bed... but... one more. This is another one of those songs that haunted my very early years... and stuck with me.

T.Rex - Bang a Gong (Get It On)

Well, it's time to clean the house (AGAIN!) So, I put on some fast R&R to get me moving and I clean and dance!
High School Confidential, by the one and only Jerry Lee Lewis!! 1958 I think.
