OOC: Loa Blood

sorry about the extended absence guys, but I think I got my life sorted out enough that now I can write again. Monolith is back, and I'm planning on winning this round with 'ol hamburger helper there.

The beginning concept of the game is that PC's begin weak, adjust to their powers, and then culture them and gain new ones with further exposure, so Jen might be a tad to strong for a new character.

There's a bit about that about one page back from Swampy, I think.

I disagree. She's little actual combat ability and depends on the cooperation others for the more dangerous use of her powers. But if it's really that much of an issue I can just say that Jen does not have the secondary power yet.

I want in. Is there still room available or do you guys not want anyone else joining right now. I have a good PC Idea and I am dieing to try it out.

- Hey Morgoth I'M BACK!!!!

Wow, great stuff, everyone. I will try to answer everyone's questions.

DT, if that's the way you want to run 01, that sounds great to me. So post in the OOC or PM me with his name, age, ethnicity, other personal details.

Cats, Nia could get her sai back from the police, or get another set by visiting an illegal weapons shop. I'll PM you and Morgoth about the other thing.

Bunnies, Jen sounds great. I love the networking idea, it will really help the PCs to work together. As for the "setting" aspect of her power, it takes time, concentration and effort, and it will always depend on the willpower of the target. Most normal people are putty in your hands, but most characters will be able to resist. You may not be able to deal brain death to them, but you can sure give them a bad trip. Anyone with psychic powers will be able to fight back in your imaginary setting, and possibly hurt Jen. Also, you can maintain the link at a range of up to a mile, but you need eye contact to set up the link in the first place. Lastly, Coda wouldn't let Jen go that easily, especially since she knows that they are stealing secrets from competitors, etc. Let's say that she still works there, and is just realizing that if she quits, they will have her killed. Then we can play through your escape from the company.

Mirad, you're totally welcome. Have you read the character guidelines in the first post of this OOC, or in the "Looking for something new?" thread? Read those, and then post your concept here, or PM me.

Everyone, yes, this is supposed to be a low-powered story to begin with. The Crusher is much, much more powerful than any of the other PCs should be. They should all be affraid of normal threats like the police, and sucseptible to being shot in the head, or killed by other mundane means.

Amon, glad you're still around, I was starting to worry that I'd scared you off. Anyway, if Ghost needs direction, and really wants to fight crime, then there's a huge metalic flying, fire-spitting monster over at the Coda building. He's leaving a huge trail of destruction, is easy to spot, and is obviously a threat to everyone in the city.

Abraxas, hurrah! Great timing, good rationale for Monolith's long absence, and very nice dream sequence. Go kick some ass.

I would like to end the current Crusher rampage pretty soon. So if Monolith and Ghost want to jump him and knock him out (after a struggle, of course, the Crusher is stronger than any individual character), then I'll have Dr. Dugan show up just in time to stop them from killing him. And then there'll be lots of characters at the Coda building, and it'll be a great time to introduce Jen and 01.

Swamp did you get my PM okay? You didn't respond to it in any case.

Thank you for answering the sai question, Nia is likely to pick up anotehr weapon she is trained with sooner or latter.

Swampy, we'll have to time the whole getting beat up by everybod and "other thing with Cats" pretty well, dont you think? What's going on, Mirad? Long time no see.

Yeah, I guess Cats should go to the Coda building and face the Crusher right away. Give them some time together before Monolith shows up.

Here is how I would like to structure the climactic Coda building battle.

1. Monolith show up, fight the Crusher, get knocked down.

2. Nia shows up, fights the Crusher, gets knocked down.

3. Anyone else who wants in shows up. Working together, they are able to knock the Crusher out.

Let's see if that works. Any of the approved new characters could already be at the Coda building.

Bunnies, Jen can show up any time now. If she is still working at Coda, then she has an office a few floors above the Crusher's current location (he's on 21, you're on 30 or so). The top floors are all offices, archives, conference rooms, etc.

I don't have a problem with her "create a psychic virtual reality environment which can be used to torture and kill" power. After all, anyone with a broken bottle (or less) can torture and kill. The only problem I have is her being able to automatically kill at great range, without exposing herself to any danger. Did you see my rewrite of her power on the last page of this thread?

The Crusher is vulnerable to psychic attack, but his willpower should be too great for Jen to kill him outright. She should be able to distract and confuse him, cause him pain, force him to switch personalities, stuff like that.

Cats, have I responded to the PM you're talking about yet, or is there another one I missed?

Character

Name: Rufus Dimane

Nationality: Argonian

Age: 24

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 135lbs

Eyes: Green

Hair: length: mid back color: Black with single white steak in front Style: Straight

Skin tone: slightly tanned

Build: Slender, ript

Occupation: thief / mercinary

Brief history: Born on Argon raised by his mother. His mother neglected him in his childhood causing him to develop certain "personality traits". As he got older her mother died from lung cancer. He went to school like a normal kid, by living off of wellfare and stealing. He lived in his mother's house, hiding the fact that she died. He got involved with drugs and for a short period got involved with the Killer Bees indirectly. He would do jobs for them on occasion. They would pay him to kill somebody or get drugs, but he was never officially a member. He was on a job one night. He had been hired to kill a woman who for some reason had got too involved with the Killer Bees. He was caught and sentenced to life in prison. He ilegaly smuggled drus into his cell to keep sane. After about five years the gov't. offerred him a chance to get out of jail and be aquited of all charges, if he agreed to take part in secret gov't experiments involving Loa Blood. He agreed and was transported to Dracon Island. It was there that they had established a secret underground testing facility. He was exposed to massive amounts of Loa Blood on a daily basis for over two years. All this time he was taking heroine that he talked a staff member into buying for him. One day he was strapped inside the Loa Blood Containment unit while he was high. He had been reading a book entitled The Rise of the Vampire. In this book a midevil vampir is posessed by a demon. Rufus was high and at this point his subconcious was dreaming that he was that character. (Rise of the Vampire is a book that I am currently writing.) Because of the Loa blood and his now overly active subconcious he began to mutate. His skin grew paler and his teeth grew to form fangs. His eyes glowed blood red. His strength tripled. He burst from the tube and layed waste to the facility, leaving none alive.

Powers: His subconcious has manifested itself in the form of a vampiric being. This vampire has a thirst for blood but does not depend on it to live. He has superhuman strength, and amazing acrobatic capabilities. He is able to walk on walls and is able to jump extremely long lengths. He has enhanced night vision. Although he is not limited to walking at night and sleeping durring the day, he is psychosematically hurt by long exposure to the sun. Telepathic abilities suych as Telepathy

Wepons: Two specially crafted handguns, throwing knives, his fangs, a specialy forged katana, and an extendable metal bowstaff: bladed at one end.

Morgoth, I looking forward to this thread:cool:

lol. yeah.
Just don't forget who's brickier...
(did I just make up a new word?)

Wow, busy weekend. Looks like I got her just in time.

Morgoth, could you please edit your last post? As I've said, the Crusher is vulnerable to psychic attack. Jen can't really hurt him, but her mind maze should be able to keep him distracted longer than that. And his split personalities are supposed to be a flaw, not an advantage, so they can't work together. Let's see them fighting each other in the mental maze for a bit. Don't worry, the Crusher still kicks everyone's asses, but sometimes you have give the other characters small victories.

On that note, anyone who is in combat with another character, please write your moves, not theirs (unless you have PMed with them and planned the fight ahead of time). Also, remember to give them, and anyone else nearby, time to react. So, make a move, and then wait for your opponent's response. I know it'll be slower, but it's in the interest of fairness.

Bunnies, great stuff with Jen. I love the concept of Gifted as "cousins".

Mirad, nice background, but Rufus is too powerful for a starting character. Here's two options.

1. Pick any two vampiric powers (strength and acrobatics, or regeneration and telepathy, etc.). You get fangs and nightvision for free. You are unaffected by sunlight, and do not need to drink blood. You are basically human with some Gifted abilities, at around the same power level as Ghost or Monolith.

2. You actually became a vampire, a monster of the Crusher's power level. You have super strength, acrobatics, regeneration and limited telepathy (although no other mental powers, no mind control). You are burned by the sun, natural fire (not including the Crusher's matter agitation) and running water, and must drink human blood to live.

Either way, there's no reason for Rufus to start with a bunch of exotic, specially made weapons. He can start with some regular throwing knives or a metal staff, or something, and then get special weaons later, maybe from his contacts in the Killer Bees. That's what Ghost had to do.

Thanks, Morgoth, nice stuff. Also, remember the crusher is still missing an arm!

Crap I'm a few days late! I blame it all on homework! None of it's my fault I denie responsiblity.

Sorry aboput the inconvience. Swamp I know you've replied to what ever PM I was talking to now.

It sounds like I have some catching up to do.

Character 2

ok I like the first. since Rufus is more of a suped up drug addict I like that better as far as the powers go I like the strength and agility to start. Eventually I would like to have him evolve more to the point where he slowly becomes more vampiric like perhaps gaining more abilities and eventually come up to par with the crusher. He might slowly develope other weaknesses and lose some as well as he evelves.

Also since the character in the book is posessed he has a sort of split personality I would like to use that as well. Perhaps Rufus Dimane the Mercinary Drug addict could be another personality of his to counteract the blood thirsty vampiric subconious. I wouldn't necesarily concider that a weakness more like a second person within the same body. They would speak to eachother and act more like a team. The vampire of course being more dominant.

As far as the wepons that could work. I would like to at leaste have a metal staff(perhaps bladed;if not it doesn't matter) a pair of handguns (automatic),and a hunting knife. He is sort of a reverse vigilanty. If you know what I mean.

Morgoth, I don't appreciate your post there, Dr.Brewster was supposed to be an important character for my character's story, not a random NPC for you to destroy.

o. sorry. I'll edit that part out. You didn't write anything about the Dr so I didn't think he was important.

I have an good question about Jen's mental powers. While the crusher thinks he's in a maze and may for all purposes of movement be in a maze. His body is still in the real word so if he swings his fist does he do that in the real world as well or is the maze and all of his actions simply in his mind?
