Ow, ow, ow... Injured Svenska

Jeez.........

Quit your sniffling, be a man:D

Doesn't work huh.........

I dislocated an ankle playing racquetball once, on crutches for about 3 weeks until I was allowed to use the walking cast.

Stairs, crutches, etc do not make for a good day!

By the way, extend your arms, do not let the crutches rub your arm pits raw........

Did you get the number of the bus that jumped up and tripped you?

Get better soon:)

I've learned that if I hold my leg in a very particular angle, I don't need the crutches to hop around. Thank goodness, those things were wobbly, and they were making my hands sore.

I have good healing abilities, and should be walking normally within a week.

I'm taking this ordeal with a sportive approach. Today I've invented two new sports; "60-square-meter-apartment-on-one-leg", and "wiping-one's-behind-while-standing-on-one-leg". Maybe I'll make it to the Olympics?
No prizes for guessing which one will make the more popular spectator sport.

A girl at work said practically the same thing when she returned from her honeymoon :D

Eep, ow! Poor Svenska! *hugs* I hope you do heal quickly! Foot injuries seems to hurt all out of proportion to the size of the limb. I broke my little toe once and was astonished at how it made my whole body ache. Stupid little thing. Bet a torn-up ankle makes you feel even worse. :(

*more hugs*

In two, it's back to Turkish riverdancing!!!!:nana:

Eeeeh! I feel for ya. I got a sprained ankle almost two weeks ago. Hopping on one foot is quite a work out, especially in a house that's multi-level. Mine's at the damn-it-still-hurts-but-I-can-walk-on-it-phase

Hope yours heals quickly.

I miss wearing high heels

A weird thing has happened to my injured foot - it's disappeared! Instead, I've got this strange thing at the end of my foot. It looks like a blue bag, filled with water - and it makes squishing noises when I walk.

Well, atleast I can stand up and limp around...

Flicka, go to the doctor, now. I mean it.

Mom Perdita  (not mad, that's my stern face smilie)

Perdita, you read the first post. I've BEEN to the doctor. They wrapped my foot and sold a pair of crutches to me, and told me to get lost. They said that I should rest my foot for a few days, and then start exercising it.

What you describe is NOT normal for a healing, or any foot. At least call the doctor and explain what's happening. Do NOT wait. Flicka, imagine what your life would be like without complete use of one foot (or without one foot). Go!

love, Perdita

What are they going to do? Say "No, that's perfectly normal. That will be 300:- SKR, please."

Besides, the swelling has gone down since I removed the elastic wrapping. It was even worse before.

I'm afraid I must back up Perdita the Wise on this one, Svenska. I don't care if the swelling has gone down. Go see or at least talk to a doctor about it!

So says she who *always* waits way too long to go to the doctor, who always regrets it, and who somehow never learns...

Go now! Don't make me come over there and drag you to the hospital!

 ~M:rose:

GO TO THE DOCTOR, NOW

Sv'a,
If you doubt the wisdom of the advice please look up the word "gangrene" in any decent dictionary.

Isn't still having both feet for the rest of your life worth 300 Kr.?

Or at the very least, call the doctor and ask "is it supposed to do this?"

Okay, speaking from experience here,
I tore the legaments in my ankle in highschool playing basket ball. I guess you are to land on the bottom of your feet when doing lay-ups, not the side of your foot!

Did they tape your foot or just wrap it in a tensor bandage? They should have taped it for support then wrap the full foot in the tensor. Second, it took three months to get into the hospital to have them repair the legaments, 6 weeks of casting, two with cruches 4 without. Then physio. GO GET IT LOOKED AT!!!

With the swelling they likely didnt see what really happened inside, get it checked again just to make sure.

Take care of yourself !
Cealy

OK, I'll be honest with you. I don't OWN 300:- SKR. But I think, I really, really think, that it's OK. The swelling is almost all gone, the blue has changed into reddish-purple, and today I even walked to the bus, went into town, and walked around doing errands. I limped, but I'm almost fully recovered.

Thank you for all your concern, it's very, very sweet, but I talked to my friend M, who's strained her ancles so much that she's got a special wing at the hospital named after her, and she listened to all I've told you, and said that I should be OK, as long as I kept a balance between resting my foot and walking on it so that I wouldn't get cartilage in my foot.

If it was something bad going on with my foot, shouldn't it hurt? The pain ahs almost stopped completely, except for when I touch it.

Flicka, I do know you have little money, and you know I know what that's like, so I'm sorry if it seemed I was ignoring that, or forcing you into a harder dilemma. Your initial post on the swelling was frightening and seemed to require urgent tending, but I am really glad to hear of the latest improvement. P.
