part 11 of the China Pearl Inn

Another cold dreary morning. The skies are leaden, and there is a persistent drizzle. Is sip of morning coffee, The elixir of life, brightens the day.

Morning to any who may be about and to those that hide in the shadows.

She appeared on his bar with a smile. Sometimes a portal. Sometimes she simply appeared. Sometimes on her rafter and sometimes someplace in the Peal.

"How are you doing, CG? I see the Pearl has been busy lately. I'm glad to see that."

Ah yes Cait a lot of guys but way to few gals I fear.

So how are you and yours doing dear?

Sits down at the bar, noticing the place has picked up a bit more. "Oh hi there, how are you?"

I am well now, CG. I want to say back to my normal self but I am finding I still tire easily most evenings. How are you these days, CG?

A quick turn of her head. A smile for Ish.

" Hey Ish. How are you?"

Cati it is good to hear that your feeling better and getting back to yourself.

Much like you I tier quickly but all in all I keep on going.

G'day Ish

ah that Cait she hops in and out I hardly get to talk to her. Ish. But she is a dear.

Ello Inn members,
Ever think you have a brilliant story idea then half way through you just want to give up?

Sometimes I loose my "connection" with my character. I have to be in my character's head to write... if I lose that I can't effectively continue. Other times.. I am so into what my character is thinking, feeling, it is easy to keep writing!!

Yes, all the time.

My issue seems to be in deviating from what I usually write, trying a different style or different trope. I'm afraid I've gone and typecast myself unknowingly.
Royal pain in the bum I could earn so much more and build my following if I could just step away from angsty, dark and gloomy. But such is life I suppose 🤣

My thinking is... keep to your strengths. Don't try to change how you write or the themes you enjoy. Find someone who compliments your style and enjoys the same themes.

I myself, as my SRP notes, enjoy intense, dark, detailed, stories. I am not one to write about the jilted housewife, or coworkers falling in love, or romantic kinds of stories.

I am must more attracted to themes outside of the norm. Dark, Intense, touching on Force, Dominance, Non-con, Mind Games, that is what I like and what I seek to write.

It comes down to finding the write partner. Once you do, a story can take off.

Nice signature picture Rain! I agree with you about getting into your character and writing, your imagination just flies.

I agree with you Rain write what holds your imagination and your interests. My style of writing has always been to respond to what my writing partner has written. I also believe that in working out a rough plot line before the first post so every one is on the same page.

It was a solo write as part of a competition for the publishing company I work with. It was more a way to challenge myself but unfortunately at my age I am pretty set in my ways.

I find my styles run very similar to yours except I have written around a jilted housewife but she was kidnapped and had a huge case of Stockholm disorder lol

I've still yet to branch out with anyone for SRP I've had a few potentials but one got scared off by the strength of my writing compared to his. Which was unfortunate because I didn't care that much about it.

She popped in onto her rafter before appearing to sit on the bar with a cup of coffee.

"Greetings Honey. I'm the resident rafter sitter here at the Pearl," she grinned over the rim of her cup, "I just wanted to pop in and say something, if you don't mind. They say write about what you know. I agree. Kind of. If you want to challenge yourself, there's nothing wrong with that and you're never too old to spread your wings if that's what you desire to do. I try to challenge myself now and then. What I don't know? I research and research more.

I've had men scared off by how I write and especially after talking with them, to get to know them a little better, and they find out I'm a published author. Then they ask, 'What are you doing writing here?' Well, because I enjoy it. It helps keep my mind sharp (Hush Logan. *grins*) and keeps my brain lubricated with words. I also tell them that the only way they're going to get better is to keep writing and if their ego can hold up, write with someone who is good. That's an excellent way to learn.

In any case, don't give up exploring."

Ahhh, CG.. you know you love me. Blame RL for pulling me around. I can never seem to be here as much as I would like.

Smiling at her while he sipped his glass of water. "I am doing well. How about yourself?" He asked rubbing his chin with his finger.
Not bad. I've been pretty sick but definitely starting to feel like myself again. I hope your holidays were good?

They were good. But I'm glad to hear you're starting to feel like yourself. *He smiled a bit more while he sipped his drink, nursing his water a bit more.*

Thank you, Ish. If you haven't figured it out by now, Logan and I closed up the Vixen. There just was not any interest in it.

Ahhh that I do Cait, but as they say from afar. ;)

Damn that RL but then that is where we do live after all and it and its needs must be seen to dear.

Honey I have always found Cait's advice to be sound.

Ah, I kinna figured it. Still, it was a small fun run. *He smiled, sipping his drink a bit more.* But thank you for telling me that, also you're welcome. :)

Ish Cait and Logan are a very talented writing team and great folks.
I'm speechless and flattered. I thank you for letting me in here and spending my time here. I believe I'm starting to like this place a bit. *Smiling a bit more.*
