part 11 of the China Pearl Inn

Sure Cait you can get a coffee with Baily's. Two or three fingers?
D&D like many things some love it some hate it. I love the imagination part of it, creating a story and adventure.
Cait can I park my soapbox net to yours?
I always found people who hated it, didn't understand it, and oftentimes just weren't creative or open-minded. Some years back, I visited a friend's club, a Star Trek group, where they say they're members of a crew of a ship, and everyone has a position. I talked about roleplay games, and several members seemed interested, especially a Star Trek one. The "captain" of the group spoke to me and said he didn't have time for games. I just smiled and replied,d "You pretend to be the captain of a starship. You pretend to be a star fleet marine, and you dress up to go to conventions. You play games."

Mind if I have a coffee with a jigger of Bushmills? I didn't notice the TP either, but I wasn't in need of it. Some folks are red-green colour blind and see both as brown. That could be disconcerting. Some others prefer not to look at what they're doing.

It's good to see everybody around after the holidays. Or at least these holidays. I once tried to make a calendar with a New Year's Day from some culture or another in every week. Managed 43. I'll have to try again.

And I'm with Cait on D&D and any other canon; imagination should not be bound in any way.

Jack takes out half a dozen Lego kids and a few bins of loose Legos and begins to go to work on one of the tables, deciding to build a medieval setting.

My problem is that I can't think quick enough on my feet for D&D. More than likely, I'd end up dead my first go- round.

Hey Tio... you've been quiet lately. I just figured you wandered off to your other playground (s) and just got caught up there. Good to see you.

We each follow our own muse. For some that leads them to table top games with friends and family gathered around a table. For others it may lead the to the World od Warcraft. Still to others maybe both.

For me my BDSM muse has led me here, to D&D and a video game every how and then. The thing is to have fun no matter where that whip snaping muse leads. ;)

Now Tio I believe you asked for a coffee with a jigger of Bushmills. Anyone else in need of some fortified coffee?

Yes, cg, thanks much, or merci beaucoups.

And Cait, the graveyard is fun in its own way, at least for research. Though I did find a couple of my students once had slipped away from their work and were enjoying themselves in a quite lively fashion behind a crypt. But, yes, applying for a substantial grant is challenging and rarely fun.

Tio applying for grants can seem like an excessive in reparative drill in jumping through hoops.

That's often the case, depending on who's on the awards committee. In this case the hoops are on fire - there's not a member of the committee familiar with the kind of research they're awarding grants for. I've been having to offer undergrad introductory lectures for this one.

Tio got to love bureaucrat's. ;)
I hate dealing with committees and hope one or two might be conversant with what they are awarding the grant for.

I drag myself into the Inn, tired and haggard, with a day where as simple oil change, and flush of the coolant system took over three hours and the cost could have chocked a horse. I pour myself a stiff drink.

I hope your day is going better than mine has. The only bright spot were two very sensual posts to my stories. The ladies always seem to know how to please me had perk my interest.

I return to the Inn grumbling a with a familiar that comes with a visit to the doctors. What he has come up with has knocked me back on my heels, but honestly nothing I had not suspected before. Still, It calls for three fingers of a single malt scotch.

So friends how did your day go?

A long wait for an exam at the hospital, but good results, considering. I'm sorry to hear that yours didn't go so well.

I'm still dealing with the grant; I need it approved soon or the field researchers I need to hire will be all booked up for the season. It's taking up much of my free time, and leaving me with little space for writing. I have a story to finish and a few RPs to catch up on.

Tio I am pleased that medically thing worked out for you. ;)
Grant applications, the waiting for approvals can be tiering and aging not to mention stress that is not great for one's health either

Tio, RPs and stories can wait but it doesn't sound like the grant can. We'll still be here when that is dealt with.

Thanks, Cait. The grant is urgent, but it still depends on the committee's meetings. I'm good for the weekend, hopefully; no meeting until Tuesday, and the hospital again on Monday.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Tio and hold a good thought for you.

Cait I enjoyed your post. :rose: :kiss::rose:

The crookers say it may take more than a year to get a hand on the problem Tio. Such is life as they say.

Best wishes for that, cg. It took me nearly two years to wend my way through the system and various treatments to resolve my last medical issue.
