part 11 of the China Pearl Inn

Pains elsewhere as well, cg. But it's still better than the alternative; when you're old, the day without pains is the day you're dead.

I know Tio but I can still regret it. I know I can not shut my eyes and pretend I just don't see it.

But I am going to pour a stiff drink.........and for you Tio?

The day has dawn frosty with a chill in the air that has me setting a fire on the Inn's hearth to chase the chill away. The aroma of fresh brewed coffee warms my spirit, that and a healthy splash of dark rum.
Morning to any who may be about and to those that hide in the shadows.

*simply appears at the bar*

OMG, CG. I often ask myself why I am living in a state that likes to eat my face, during the winter. It is currently -7 here. *shivers* I know. I know. There are other places that are colder but this is my reality. May I get something to take the chill from my bones please? Coffee and hot tea aren't cutting it. I'm also caring for Dryfter at the moment. His cold has settled into his chest and he's miserable. So, my responses may just kind of ooze in as I can get to them.

I watched as Cait shivers and the effect of the cold on her voice that results in her teeth chattering as she speaks.
Well if you really want to warm up I would suggest a Mexican hot chocolate, Rich dark coco, a pinch of cyan, and two fingers of dark 151 rum scalded with a hot poker. It's guaranteed to warm you Up Cait.

And, Cait, for Dryfter's cold you might try my favorite cold remedy: drink plenty of fluids (I find Irish whiskey is good, but sparkling white wine is also nice) and stay in bed for a few days (with a warm friend or two). It doesn't cure the cold, but it makes having it more tolerable.

Ahhh, Tio. I wish. The man is stubborn and went off to work today. He feels like crap but he's plowing through it. By the time he gets home this afternoon, well, I suspect he'll be in worse shape. In any case, Nurse Cait will be taking care of him once he comes through that door.

Morning Cait, Tio.
I pour myself a coffee with a good plash of Bailys.
Coffee any one?

Most appreciated, cg. It's been a cold day here. 19 below in Celsius. That's colder than -2 in Fahrenheit.

That calls for another log or two on the fire to build up the bed of coals Tio. With those temps we need a warm toasty Inn.

As the noon hour approaches, the temperature struggles to try and reach 30F. I add several logs to the fire on the hearth to chase the chill from the air.

I think coffee and black rum to warm the spirits.

Morning to any who may be about and to those that hide in the shadows. ☕

Working on his Lego village on one of the tables, Jack looks up and nods to Cait.

I've been working outside, believe me, and it's not warming up very much, but everything is getting done, and I'm returning to a warm house every day. Sadly, not everyone gets to say that.

Taking a section of track and a section of bridge, Jack begins building a rain track system from the table to the bar of the Inn so his soon-to-be-installed model train system can pick up drinks and snacks from the bar area and bring them back.

*falls in and flops her head on her arms with a groan* I'm off to bed again. Sorry about this guys.

Jack continues to work on his trainset, with the bridge extending from one of the side booths to the bar. He finally reaches it after installing a drawbridge so patrons can get by without issue.

He begins work on the track, heading back to the village on the table so he can start running the train engines.

I rise from my chair facing the window to take a look at Jack's progress.

"Nice work, Jack. A very well-planned layout. It's been more years than I care to count since I've been this close to a set. When I was a kid I had a fairly big - for an apartment - layout of Lionel O-gauge; what make are yours?"

"Oh, thank you, it's a pleasure to do, and in real life, I enjoy HO gauge, though this little setup is Lego trains, which they don't do as often. Seems kids don't like toys the same way, which is a shame. I enjoy online and video games very much, but something of building something right before you."

Sets up the first engine with only a box car, a flat car with railroad supplies, a car with a crane, and a caboose. Adding the appropriate crew members in their overalls. He looks over at Tio and finds an intellectual in a suit with a notepad and a cup of coffee. He places him on the caboose with the conductor and starts sending the train around.
