Pink Orchid 2024: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica - Official Support Thread

This was excellent! The only qualm I had is that I had some confusion over which was the aunt and which was the niece, I think you started with one way and then switched. Not that it made much of a difference. Very well done and certainly different. This is something I can't do, since English isn't my first language, so I admire it in others.

Thanks! I don't know; proofreading's not my strong suit. I'm glad you liked it!

Excellent story! Great job both with the style and with the ending, which felt very authentic to that mythology.

Thanks! I thought so too.

I haven't finished my space hippy story, but I did write a story with a character named Freya, so expect to hear from my lawyers, bucko. :D
You'd only have a case if she was also Freya Chiang, Captain-Doctor of the Shaper society on Cobalt Kluster.:)

My working title was "Freya frees herself" but that was boring.

Plenty of room for more Freyas on Lit.

The FMC of my God of War fanfic is the original Norse Love Goddess Freya. She and Kratos have some tension to work out. ;)

Yes, I was thinking that through the two games. Now things have settled down, they should have time to... relax.

That was what I hoped for. Here's a link to the fic, it's also a parody of the fanfic author-character relationship.

Contemplating a sequel where Sigrun reminds a self-disparaging Mimir he still has a talented tongue. And she doesn't mind moving his head up and down her body to apply that tongue... Heh. Not sure if I like a woman using a living severed head as a sex toy, though. Pink Orchid fans, what do you think?

I'm sure Mimir wouldn't complain. And his horns could be useful to scratch that itch.

Personally, I'd like to do a story about Thrúd but her age is ambiguous.

Yeah, that kept Thrud, Loki, and Angrboda to an innocent cameo appearance in the story.

Mimir would complain. Play the new dlc.

Have submitted 'Accredited Sadist', after 6 months of it sitting around as a draft. As you could guess from the title, it's quite heavy SM (with Rachel and Richie, for my half-dozen followers who know who they are).

If I manage to complete my story intended for Pink Orchid, that's nice fun vanilla heterosexual sex.

I really liked this one! Your kinky British scientists are growing on me. I loved the combination of BDSM and nerdy science talk. Prime stuff!

I was wondering whether your comment on the story itself:" I have to say, I’m becoming rather fond of you kinky British scientists" was meant to be 'your' rather than 'you', because it works either way...

"Wonderful writing and so delightfully British." Thank you for the praise on the writing, though the Britishness just comes naturally! I wasn't even playing with accents or dialects in that one, like I often do.

There were many great lines and descriptions, but this was the first I spotted so it stuck in my mind: “It's never really possible to believe in pain until it happens.”
Again, thank you for the compliments! The story seems to have been more popular than I expected, 6k views already and a bunch of followers and faves on my other stories. Clearly my notion that BDSM is just sex for geeks, and trying to write SM rather than the D/S that most Lit stories are, chimed a chord with readers.

It was nice to see that side of things get some attention!

Something I notice with your stories is the number of characters who'll recur across several different stories, sometimes as main characters, sometimes just supporting cast. Do you do anything specific to keep track of continuity for that? Is there a master spreadsheet of who's in which country at which date, and hooked up with whom?

Haha! I was going for “your”, because how would I know if you’re a kinky scientist yourself? Maybe you just have a kinky British scientist fetish and like to write about them. There’s a lot of men writing lesbian sex and all.

I’m not target audience in any aspect of BDSM, but I really liked this. Also now I have something to point to if someone asks for an example on how to write a female masochist so that it makes sense and she has agency. Also a prime example on how to write consent and safety so that it’s still sexy. Not that anyone ever asks me for examples 😁

Part of it is simply being too lazy to create new characters, but also that the more I write about them, the more I like them and find them interesting.

It was a huge pain trying to establish the relative ages of Rachel and Emily and against Laura/Richie/Adrian, given they were created at different times. There's some wonky time to start with, so actually the years went timey-wimey from the beginning - the Smoking Hot series was nearly complete when I realised that legal changes crucial to the story (legalising gay sex in the military, lowering age of consent in NI from 21 to 17) had happened a few years earlier than I'd thought, so the entire thing was hastily shifted from 2014/5 to early 2010, resulting in a somewhat odd number of references to things being in the process of preparing for the 2012 Olympics. There's one big anachronism in chapter 1, but I decided I liked it and wasn't paid enough to care.

Then I wrote what became Educating Laura, same Laura (she was actually a Karen, until just before publishing Smoking Hot, when the Karen meme exploded and no-one would have taken a Karen seriously as a sexy character...). But given I didn't want to make the story Obviously In The Past, they needed mobile phones. So it had to be in the very late 90s. Which basically means Laura and Adrian age 20 years in 12.

Given that, now I just make each story internally consistent, but spent many an insomniac night working out that Laura and Adrian are a year older than Richie, Richie is thus about one year older than Emily and two older than Rachel, but steamed through his PhD and first postdoc (slightly implausibly given he did his PhD in America where they take longer, but maybe he got exempted from the general two years and went straight to his lab project?). Bradley is stated to be a year older than Emily but a year behind in career terms, thanks to degrees taking longer in America. I have just realised while typing that this means Bradley and Richie should be the same age, but as long as Richie is recognisably senior in his career and snarky as hell, it doesn't really matter if he's not actually the few years older that Bradley assumes he is.

Maybe in 50 years time I'll have fans analysing my output and laughing at the inconsistencies (I never expected to have so much sympathy with Elinor Brent-Dyer! She glossed over all numbers, which was fine until her boarding school stories set in Austria in the 1930s had the Anschluss happen. So she moved the school to Guernsey. Whoops. It means certain events are rigidly dated when she'd really have preferred not, but in the other hand, resulted in a couple of the most impressive and female-centred stories from WW2 ever) But in the meantime, I've not had anyone notice!

Adrian and Dan will return for a Valentine's story, now in 2022 and aged 49 and 38/9. Roughly right amount of aging since Smoking Hot, but the important bit is he's still 10 years older than Dan, who in turn is 10 years older than a couple new friends they find. I know I asked for a beta reader regarding race content (haven't found one), but it's actually age that's the key difference between them, with the other key features of the younger guys' behaviour/dialect being location and a bit about class, way more than skin colour. It's called Multicultural London English, after all.

Recalling where people are and who they've slept with is a doddle in comparison - and the latter doesn't matter so much when most people are bonking anyway. At some point Emily would discover that Rachel and Richie have fucked, but she's hardly going to be *surprised*!

too lazy to create new characters
When I wrote my entry about Ruby and Scarlet, I needed a name for the proprietress of the underground lesbian social club. I was going to name her Clara, but auto-corrupt changed it to Claire -- I had just begun writing my series about Claire. I decided to leave it as Claire.
My series about Claire is set about now (or maybe a few years ago) when she's eighteen and about to begin university, but in the story about Ruby and Scarlet, she's about fifty. So it leaves me to wonder how she comes to be running a wine and cheese shop between when she leaves university and about twenty years later when Ruby and Scarlet begin university.

As per usual. I have come up with an idea, late. So pencil me in for 2025 with a fantasy story about a beautiful lusty queen who is the real brains behind her lovable husband's throne. It'll likely take me that long to write it anyway. 🙃

Finished mine!

Anyone interested in beta reading a tale about railway archaeology and a lesbian ghost? I'm not sure if some of the additional information I added is too much.

Happy to, send it my way. It might give me the kick up the arse I need to get on with mine
