Pink Orchid 2024: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica - Official Support Thread

Right, Valentine's story is done and dusted despite the best attempts of the formatting gremlins (and just approved to appear tomorrow morning!). But that's totally not a Pink Orchid story, given it's gay sex without even one woman being named or saying anything in the whole thing!

So you may get another PO story, but I need time off!

For anyone concerned if your story idea is applicable: I'm not an authority but I do host the event

Heyo! Would a story that's already gone live, before I knew about this event, be eligible if I submitted an edit to it with the note-to-admin? It did go live during january, but would it be disqualified for being submitted without the note?
Haven't participated in any challenges yet, and this seems like a fun thing to be part of 😊
Kiiti!

You can try I think? Or send Laurel a PM asking to include it. It was published within the submitting window and all. Or then write a 750 spinoff, linking to your previous story, and post it in both this event and 750 story one 😁

PS: it’s with two t’s: kiitti
PPS: ole hyvä!

The way I see it, gay male is probably the most excluded category, and I think even that could be made to work, providing the story has at least one female character in a significant role.

Never one to shy away from a glove thrown down, I figured I would be in on this, difficulty index raised and all that. So I've gone and manufactured an unprecedented (for me) problem.

I have an ongoing non-chaptered series about a pair of married bi-guys who are engaging in some clandestine fun on the side, without spousal knowledge. MY PO offering is about them getting discovered and having to deal with the fallout from their wives, one of whom will be the focus for the PO angle. It is nearly done, but before I can post it, I need a set-up story, which will lead to the discovery and establish context. The PO piece can stand by itself fine, but the series will look like its missing something if I don't fill in this blank.

In my various chaptered series, I have never posted any piece without being done with the whole drama, but now I am faced with this later chapter (maybe the last in the series?) that requires an earlier piece to handle a lacuna. So I have to get my writing kit in order and quick do this anterior piece, if I am to make make deadline on the PO.

How complicated should this creativity thing be, after all? And the pay is miserable, regardless. I'm about halfway through the troublesome context story, we'll see if I can pull it off.

Ooo!

…but does it have space hippies? 😁

I’m really looking forward to this one. I hope you’ll get the troublesome preceding chapter done in time.

I have something. I've finished a first draft. This one didn't seem promising for a long time, but it's worked out better than I thought it might. Which may just mean that I'm now unable to see fundamental flaws. Oh well, I'll probably submit it anyway. It's 13k words, so I expect to need a week or so, to get it to final form.

No space hippies.

I've done the crux of a story, just need to put the rest of the sex in and ignore the temptation to add the characters' entire backstory, later story and generally writing a novel. I've got quite enough plot bunnies chomping at their cages, evil streaks a mile wide...

I did it! Well kinda. It's brand new IP, but a 750+Orchid crossover.

Vanilla sex is so far out of my comfort zone! And trying to keep it to 750 words.. whew. Felt horrible to edit it, like I was shaving away their personalities. But, was fun to challenge myself, thanks for suggesting this 🥰

Glad to hear you pushed through your limits into the terribly scary terrain of vanilla sex 🤣

Today I intend to submit my story. I saw in the event list that the 'Notes to Admin' phrase is simply 'Pink Orchid,' not specifying 2024. I'll also include in the Notes that this should be included in the 2024 story set. One of the tags will be 'Pink Orchid 2024.'

I see from a tag search that there are already quite a few stories posted. I'm glad that there's at least one about space hippies, so I won't feel guilty about failing to work them into my story.

Space hippies is a surprisingly difficult plot to work in. Heh.

I've submitted mine. Maybe next year I'll get around to space hippies. They figure to be extremely sex-positive, and when they aren't hopelessly stoned, able to give (or withhold) enthusiastic consent. Whether they're actually any good at operating spacecraft, remains to be seen.

Excellent! I’ll be waiting, for both your this year’s and the space hippie one.

Hippie hippos sound a bit like moomins. And hippo sex could actually work better in zero gravity. Too bad I already wrote my 750 for this year.

If there's one thing I always hoped would never be contaminated with erotica, it's Moomins. That's one childhood memory (alright, I reread "Comet in Moominland" almost every year) that should stay sacred.

For space hippos, though, does anyone know Spelljammer?

Well, as a Finn I feel that it’s my responsibility to defile the moomins if anyone does. They’re pretty sexless though so maybe something like… belly rubbing… there has to be some kind of a rubbing fetish, right? What’s it called what the feeder guys do to their women once they’ve fed them too fat for intercourse? Did I ruin your childhood yet?

I'm pretty impressed you got Wheel of Fortune to tie-in with your event :ROFLMAO:

It’s all part of my Very Secret Plan to smash the patriarchy.

I would take more than that to ruin my childhood beyond the wreck it already was.

I had a crush on the Snork Maiden. Does that make me weird? (How about if I still have a crush on the Snork Maiden?)

I can write in a cameo for you. You can be the astronaut to boink the hippie hippo that looks vaguely like Snork Maiden when you’re heavily intoxicated with their superb space weed.

I never watched Snorks, so I will not comment on the attractiveness of their maidens. I hope said space weed is safe to use- I am very anti-drug in real life, don't like the taste or smell of weed even- maybe if it smells more like scented candles? Or maybe I won't need it if the space hippies are attractive enough? [shrug] I'm more into the tough combat adept chicks who help the space hippies stay alive and maintain their peaceful ways anyhow. My fantasy chicks are part of that crowd. :)

Thanks, but I'll give it a miss. The Snork Maiden can stay as innocent as ever in my mind.

And we both know she'd never cheat on Moomintroll anyway.
