Or maybe about how to supress the dark lusty urges monsters have and which the crystal makes affect you (if it does, which I assume it does, but it might not)? As it probably has to be connected to you in a very deep way or it would have decayed away in a magical fizzle by now, leaving you with this gaping hole in your chest.
