Poetry for killing time

Its nights like this when sleep is hard to find
I think of one who, while not quite pure, treats me very kind.
Others watch and follow what we say
I know not their reasons, nor do I care, as long as they stay out of the way.
I have a few friends that I happen to adore
I enjoy watching others attempt to score.
I am not playing a game with mind or heart
I love the lady even when she is being a tart.
My thoughts run wild when the blood boils in my veins
She brings me peace and calms my pain
I offer her what no one else can bring
Her heart cries out and begins to sing
When she hears my words and feels their appeal
we both know the feelings and refuse to deal.
I know what you wish and what you want
I say yes to both, I would never taunt.
With a little you, about to be born
You have my word, be it never torn.

Appassionato

Play me like a violin...
A melancholy nocturne
Whispered
Pianissimo along the
Cupped audience
Of my
Ear.

Play me like a guitar..
Strum your fingers
Along my stomach
And lower--
Delicato
As your other hand
Gently presses,
Alternating chords
Against my
Neck.

Play me like a piano...
Stroke your fingers--
Featherlight, and then
Intensity
Crescendo
Breath
Accelerando
A touch, a note held--
Fermata of color
Behind my eyes.

Weave your harmony over
My desire-slick skin
Until I become
A symphony, a rhapsody
Of your making.

BRAVO~!!! Yea, SheRemembers!!! You are such a wonderful writer.

The mix here is a beautiful start on something that can be taken so much farther I believe...perhaps already has been by a master poet somewhere as well.

I started into such a project with the jargon of ballet but have not worked on the original effort again or pursued that course more since.

Such "cousins" should "visit" and "sing & dance" together more often, don't you think? A missing cousin...JAZZ...another that would work well!

The words were made for blending and renovation...restyling...new sounds and steps, huh?

I love this poem that you've written! :rose:

Thank you, Poppy. That's very kind of you. It was marinating in my mind all night, after a rather innocent question as to whether a friend plays a musical instrument or not. Not quite sure where it came from.

:)

I understand. I just envision innovations in our craft from your words...beyond their expressions of the one known here as "SheRemembers"! :D The art of "creation" underway....creatively! :catroar:

I love musical terminology...

One of my favorite lines from a Fiona Apple song, "The First Taste:"

Adagio breezes fill my skin with sudden red...

Using the tempo terms for non-musical description makes me all shivery-like.

~ It is indeed a very beautiful piece SR. Quite lyrical in its own right. :rose:

Fiona, in my estimation, is an up and coming master in her own right...well before her time...comparable to Stevie Nicks or the brilliance of Steely Dan from an earlier time. Time will document her growth beyond that...or not...as it goes along methinks!

Anyway...I know kinda what you mean....the discipline and precision of the "ballet" are part of what inspired me. Such focus requires one to "step back" from life in ways...to remain "not affected" in some ways in order to use that energy toward artistry and re-creation. Once in the mix of the process (with the muse so to speak) all passion flows to that end. Does that make any sense to you at all??? LOL..it's so hard to express these things that fill my mind sometimes. I cannot find the words...sometimes pictures speak them for me...like fractals.

Also Victoria...the poem you wrote here is so gripping in it's imagery...I was so taken with the emotional reaction I had to the sentiments, I neglected to note that.

What a verse...what clarity of the vision...how many have you noted walking in such situations...never considering where they might be headed?

.......

Thank you Poppet... I am so glad you like it. As I sat here one night, the words poured out of me... tumbling out as fast as I could put them down.

Sometimes I neglect to speak the "obvious" regarding the works of such accomplished writers as yourself. It's almost like I expect such an artist to know their works are wonderful "as usual" or something. I think that happens too often...the bar is held differently somehow and we forget to say how much a specific poem or story or song or original artwork is valued as part of "the craft" it represents.

I ignore Poppy.

My life is better, oh boy.

Please call her sister.

Why would anyone call me "sister"? I am not a nun...

Please...don't let my posting interfere with your "ignoring" of me...*nods nods* I in no way attempt to get in the way of that decision on your part...it is very comfortable for me as well.

~ The words to this one ran round in my head, causing me to say them out loud as I slept. Waking myself from a fairly sound slumber, filled with hazy visions, these words came out jumbled in their eagerness to be written down.

What you see here... is the end result. I call it:
........

Hmmmm...have you felt that again? Have you a clearer picture of the "other"?

Seems I'm speaking of my "spiritual" guardians a lot tonight...well not a lot...but some. I have another I call "The Watcher"...a white silohuette of a man...like in the garb of a sailor...kinda of scruffy feeling or sensing...from the 1940's...as I've seen on tv. There are no distinguishing features...just a "whiteness" of a head/shoulders picture. But I get the sense he looks out for me in some way. He's always "present" if I think about him. Odd...perhaps I should try to write about him...actually I feel some words forming in me now.

Is that anything like this "Now you are mine" person you sense?

he says my name like i am a gem
the syllables roll on his tongue as if I am a treasure

feather light touches on the nape of my neck
somehow erase the heavy touches of others

it feels alien, yet sacred
an adoration i have not known before

I walked around to see
it
from
your side.

What I saw was
you.
I
no longer had
any side
at all.
