Joey grinned as she peeled out of the gravel parking lot. He waited for a few moments and then pulled her number and his phone. Dialing her number he waited for her to answer as she said hello "Well I told you i would call what do you say you me grill you a steak tomorrow night at my place." Joey's parents who had some money lived on a piece land by the river he was staying in the cabin down on the river bank. "what do you say me you a steak and a cooler of beer miss new 21!" he laughed into the phone as he stands in front of the bar. "plus we can watch the game on the patio!"

Gabi heard her phone ring and grabbed it. She answered it wth a "hello", only to hear the sound of Joey on the other end. "Joey when I said call me Joey, I ment like tomorrow. Not as soon as I leave the bar." She said with a laugh. She listened to him descibe a date and bit her lip. "Hmm streak, beer, and game." She said and pretended to think. "sounds like fun Joey! I'd love too!" She said finally as she tapped the wheel. "Where's your place at?"

"At the end of bend road out by the river. Ever been out that way? Come to the end my place is the last driveway on the road where it dead ends just pull in pass the main house and follow the drive. I am staying in the lake house down by the river while I am back home. 6 sounds good? That way we can eat before the game starts?" he smiles as he thinks about actually getting to spend sometime with her alone. "I look forward to it miss Gabi! See you tomorrow night then?"

She siled into the phone and shook er head. "Yeah I've been down there a few time, but never that far out. It sounds like alot of fun though. I've always had a thing for lake houses." She said sweetly. "I'll be there at 6, see you tomorrow Joey. Bye!" She said before she hung up the phone. She put her phone down and smiled to herself, tomorrow was going to be fun as hell.

Joey hung out with his buddies until the game was over then headed home. The next day he got up and did his routine run work out and hit. Then he gave his lessons. One the way home from lesson he stopped and picked up door for the night as well as beer. He arrived home and showered and shaved changing into a pair of khaki shorts and a team issued sweatshirt. The clock said 5:30 he proceeded out to the luxorious patio with a fire place a flat screen above it and a couch in front of that. To the side was a table and chairs next to the grill. Joey went and brought some wood around and built a fire in the fire place and then started the grill he turned the pre-game on awaited miss gabi's arrival!

The next day Gabi woke up and di her usual morning routine. She took her morning run before she jumped in the shower. She got dressed in a light red sun dress before she woke up Chris and went down to make breakfast for them. Once they had finished breakfast Gabi ropped Chris off at a friends while she went to the Wal-mart.

At 5 she headed home and drop off the few things she bought. She made sure she looked okay before she went back to the car and drove towards Joeys place. It was 5:56 when she got there. She hopped out of her truck and shut the door before she walked up to the door.

Joey had just opened a beer when he heard his dog start barking he looked around the corner of the lake house and saw lights coming down the drive. He walked over and threw another log on the fire. Took a big swig of his beer bottle setting it down and walked through the house to the front door just about the time Gabi knocked. Opening the door he smiles "6 pm on the dot! I like a girl who knows how to be on time!" as he grinned that grin at her. "How are you Gabi? You look great!"

Gabi smiled sweetly as Joey opened the door with that grin that made her heart pound everytime she saw it. "I'm fine and thanks. How about you? How are you?" She said as she blushed a bit and ran her hands over her dress. She walked inside the house clear impressed. "This is a really nice place Joey, must be nice livng here." She said sweetly.

"Beats the hell out of the old apartment I live in up in Memphis. Come in I started a fire outback on the patio and have the grill already on! Hope you are hungry?" he thought to himself how good she looked tonight as they strolled through the well decorated house. As they step out to the fire lit carpeted screened in patio. "Make yourself at home!" Joey pointed to the couch. "I will get you a beer unless you want something else? There is a stocked bar in the game room upstairs." as he walked over grabbing his beer sipping it as he checked the grill. Joey's dad was a big time lawyer in the city although Joey never really flaunted his money growing up because most people around here didn't have it. And after slumming through the low levels of the minor leagues the last few years he knew what it was like not to have money all the time as well.

She smiled as she walked over to the couch and sat down. "No, no a beer is perfectly fine." She said sweetly as she crossed her legs and looked around her. "This places is like... wow." She said and looked at he fire before grinning a bt. "Hey Joey I have a quick question, do you always make fires for girls you just met?" She asked him before she sat back on the couch and listened to the dogs bark away. "How many do you have Joey, it sounds like more then 2."

"no I don't always make fires!" as he grabbed a beer from the cooler opening it and then handing it to her. "to be honest I never really meet real girls!" walking over to the grill as he places the steaks in. "I mean I haven't really had a girl friend since high school. Usually all the girls I meet are cleat chasers or gold diggers. So it's hard to find a girl I want to build a fire for!" shutting the grill as he walks over having a seat on the arm of the couch. "as for the dogs we have 4. But only one is mine. Her name is Annie. She goes everywhere I go! She has been with me since my senior year of high school and went with me when I got drafted. It is kind of tough sometimes tontine someone to watch her during road trips but I manage. She is my little piece of home while I am gone!" he smiles as be sips his beer then looks up at the tv and the pregame show.

"Oh that's so sweet Joey." She said sweetly as she sipped her beer. She watched him as he cooked streak, looking over at the tv once in and while to watch the pregame. "So Joey have you always been a fan of baseball? Or did you just get into it like in middle school or something like that?" She asked him before she got up off the couch. She walked over to him as she sipped her beer. "I'm sorry about the girlfriend thing though. I mean you should have a girl that likes you for you." She said kindly.

"ah it's all good! As for baseball it is the only thing I have ever really known. And then when I was drafted I was shipped out quicker than I could even pack." as he shuts the grill sipping his beer turning to face you. "then you just kind of lose touch you know. I have been gone 3 years each year another place to live.'pretty crazy really." as he finishes his beer opening Another. They said next year should be my year though. So maybe I will get my chance at the big leagues!" he grins looking at you and the way the light is hitting her face bringing her pretty features stand out even more! "but enough about me! Where did this pretty little girl Gabi come from? Why did she move into this small town in the middle of no where!" as he sips his beer the. Sets it down flipping the steaks!

She smiled at him as she finished her beer. "Well Iets see. I grew up in Flordia with my mother, father, and my little brother. My gather was a hug fan of bseball and I loved hanging out with him so I just got into it. When I was 15... well there was an accident with my father so we moved down here." She said with a shug as she grabbed another beer. Shelooked up at him and smiled. "Your life is most likey much better."

"you think so?" he grins. Well let's see I have a
Mother and father who are married and hate each other. My father is still mad at me that I did not go to college to follow in his steps of a lawyer. He has never been to see me play since I was drafted and is charging me rent while I am home!" I grin at you as sip my beer. "so let's just say just because things look nice doesnt mean they are. The only reason I came home is I missed my mom. And my buddy Phil is getting married next month. Do you know Phil and Susan?" as he pulls the steaks off the grill to a plate. Sipping his beer. "we should be ready to eat in a few mins! Hope you are hungry!" "what about you though? Why is a pretty girl like you single? You aren't crazy or anything are you?" he says with his sly grin chuckling at you playfully

"I know Susan, yet to meet the groom. I'm I've seen him around town, but I haven't really met him. I'm suppose to meet him this weekend though."She said before she took her plate and rolled her eyes. "Am I'm not crazy." She said before she went to sit down. "I'm... waiting. The guys here are all so sweet and kind to me, but none of them are really my type." She said with a small laugh. "I want a man would will treat me right and make me laugh. Who's likes to act playful." She said as she brushed her hair back.

Joey grinned as he sat down to eat as well. "well then what made you decide to agree to have dinner with me? All the guys here I grew up with and have been around my whole life! How do you know I am not like them?" he laughed as he began rocky his steak. Knowing in his mind he was nothing like any guy around here he just wanted to here her answer. "if I am not being to nosey you said there was an accident with yur father may I ask what happened?

"Well lets see, your a lover of baseball, you made me laugh from the first moment you spoke to me, and your pretty cute to boot." She said with a giggle and she cut up her streak. "And it's kind of bviouse your nothing like the boys here in town. Your more of a joker."

"Well I can't blame you for asking. My father was coming home from work when a drunk driver hit his car. He ummm died in the hospital." She said with a little shrug.

"well you are right! I am nothing like anyone here! I am sorry to hear about your dad too!" as he finishes his food. Putting his napkin in his plate. Standing he begins to clear the table. "well it's good to know you are a baseball fan! I must admit you get major brownie points in my book for that!" winking at you. As he opens another beer. "so we going to watch this game or not?" he slyly grins at you and has a seat on the couch. Putting his feet up on the coffee table in front of him. As he swigs his beer placing it on the end table. "well if you know susan then I guess you are invited to the wedding next weekend?" he looks over at you.

She grinned as she walked over to the couch and at down. "Yeah, she invited me last week." Gabi said happily as she leaned towards him. "So... are you going with anyone to the wedding or are you just going solo?" She asked him innocently. Sheeaned back on the couch and crossed her legs as she looked at the tv screen. "When do you have to leave again?"

"not until after Christmas then I am acty going to Florida early just to get in shape for spring training." as he leans back on the couch extending his arm closest to her not So he can put it around her as she is tucked in on the other side of the couch but singe can turn To face her better. Grinning looking at her "well I haven't really thought about it?" he says grinning slyly at her. "are you asking me to benyour date miss Gabi?" sipping his beer as he crosses his leg and sits back on the couch sort of turned towards her.

She blushed a deep red and looked away from him for a moment. She looked over at him and smiled a bit. "Well umm yeah, I kind of was asking you. But you know I understand if you don't wat too." She said with a shake of her head. She looked at the tv screen. "You know why don't we just forget I asked."

Grinning at her thinking how cute it is at her nervousness! "you know what? I do not think there is any other person that I would rather go with!" he grinned at her as she looked away. "however it is going to cost you!" he smiles at her now playfully! "I will say yes! If you say it is ok for me to kiss you?" as he sips his beer in a cute way not a macho way but in a way you can tell he is a little nervous himself. "so what do you say? Do we have a deal?"

She looked over at him and tapped her chin, pretending to thinkoabout it. "Hmmm well you are cute and you did make me a great dinner, sooo... yes! We have a deal." She said as she giggled a bit. She moved closure to him. "But if your not as good as a kisser as you are looking then deals off." She joked with a grin.

As she scooted closer. "Wow such pressure!" he grinned leaning into her as he softly pressed his Lips to her. Not in a passionate way but in a deep sensual kiss that just felt right. After a few seconds their kiss breaks as he leans back he grinned "so what's the verdict?" he says with his boyish grin. "do I still have a date for the wedding?"
