1. Do not tighten the ropes too much around the breasts....remember to always use the 2 finger rule. This could result in loosing those precious nipples.
2. For best effect use soft cotton rope, or curtain rope/cord.
3. For my personal aesthetics, white and black ropes have the most effects.
4. Best places to buy ropes economically are curtaining shops, WalMart, chandlery/sailing specialists, and hardware warehouses.
5. Treat the end of your ropes by first sewing them to fasten, then waxing the ends using hot candle wax..and for the paranoid, use duct tape to add extra security.
6. Have scissors or knives handy to cut the rope if necessary. When the body part turns dark blue/purple it is already close to, if not already, too late, so fast cutting is the safest, quickest way.
For the next lesson I am taking suggestions/requests....don't be afraid to ask.

I would suggest using either hemp or solid braid nylon. Any rope that has a seperate inner core will have different properties when when youtie the knots. Also, you could try using a smaller diameter rope.catalina_francisco said:Things to take into account :

I would sugegst going to Home Depot or a similar store. They have a different selection of types and diameters and sometimes colors. If you get rope from a marine store, keep in mind what you are going to use it for. If your doing any suspension work, be sure you know how much the rope will stretch.4. With all of my ropes, I use a "whipstitch" on the ends. After the ends are done with the whipstitch, I cut the rope close to the stitch (about 1/16 inch) then I use a lighter to melt it (if using nylon). If you use hemp or other natural fiber rope, you can cut the ends about 1/4 inch from the ends and have then unravel themselves. If you want, you could also use some "tool dip" to coat the ends.5. I would have to strongly disagree with the knife portion of this. And do not use regular scissors! If you are going to do any type of rope work, please get yourself a good pair of EMT shears. They have blunt ends and will cut just about anything. The reason I say this about regular scissors and a knife? If you are even in the situation to NEED to cut the rope, either the body part(s) have swollen and you will not have room under the rope, the subject has passed out, the subject has gone into a seisure or panicked state and you cannot restrain them, etc. In any of these situations, using a regular pair of scissors or a knife will endanger your subject. Rope can be easily replaced, partners cannot.6. Have scissors or knives handy to cut the rope if necessary. When the body part turns dark blue/purple it is already close to, if not already, too late, so fast cutting is the safest, quickest way.

Note: In most demo pictures, larger diameter rope is used for ease of viewing.
) and perhaps ordering another whip or two to be crafted and added to the collection.
Vixandra said:Heckle is correct- a good pair of EMT shears is safer then using scissors or a blade to cut rope.
As an EMT- those shears are nifty as hell. Can cut through just about anything, the blunt edge keeps it from skin and they're easy to use/get under things.
