So my girlfriend and I are interested in starting to introduce some toys. We're looking to get a dildo, but are wondering a few things.

- How is rubber compared to the other "life-like" materials?
- How do the suction cups perform? Hold tight or do they come free often?
- Are different materials stiffer than others?

Thanks for any help :)

I don't like the "jelly" toys. First of all, they sting and burn my delicate parts. Yeah, you can put a condom on them, but if I have to put a condom on my dildo just to make it comfortable shouldn't I get a better dildo???? Plus they attract every little fleck of lint on the bed. Yuck.

Huh? Do you mean "life-like" or something else?
Most materials that advertise being lifelike, like Cyberskin, are compounds of latex, silicone and lots of chemicals. I wouldn't advise these because the chemicals can cause health problems and irritation, they're not easy to clean well and aren't terribly durable.

If you can afford it, invest in 100% silicone (be sure it's 100%, not just labelled 'silicone' because it only has to have 10% silicone to be labelled such), glass/pyrex or stainless steel instead of junky mixes like jelly and cyberskin. Acrylic and vinyl can be okay, too. Ideally, you want something that can be sterilized in the dishwasher, via boiling, or a bleach solution. eBay's Mature Audiences section, under Everything Else, often has outstanding prices on high quality toys.

It depends on the cup. They're usually for sticking to the shower wall so guys can fuck themselves. I haven't heard of women using suction cup features, but I suppose it does happen.

Yes, but it all really depends on the toy. Jelly and Cyberskin are usually the softest, followed by latex/rubber, silicone, vinyl, then all of the hard materials like hard plastic, glass, steel and acrylic.

Your best bet is to find a toy store near you that has toys on display for customers to look at/feel in their hands. Get the names of the toys you like, and find the best price online (your local toy store is likely several hundred percent more expensive than online for any given item).

I'd advise getting a dildo that's targeted toward g-spot stimulation and a firmer material so it provides a different sensation from your cock. While you're at it, pick up a good vibe, too. My favorites are the Rabbit Pearl (takes 3 C batteries and is fully adjustable- about $15 on eBay) and the Hitachi Magic Wand with straight and g-spot attachments (about $50 various places online, but it's worth it for both of you).

My wife loves her Hitachi magic wand and I've enjoyed a bit myself. Amazon has a good selection and reasonable prices

Sorry, I did mean life-like :(

Thanks a lot for all of you help and suggestions. Looks like we have quite a bit of research to do before we dive into getting one.
