Pure Moonlight (closed)

Ruben nodded quickly, soon coming out with her into the den room to see Ghell coming in. Kreston had fetched some nice spare clothes for him from Volgo and Ghell had cleaned up well, his fur no longer looking ragged and his exhaustion gone thanks to a good night's sleep. He smiled softly to Selena, seeing her new dress for the first time. "You look absolutely beautiful, eli."

"Thank you, uvore." Selena said with a smile as she pushed Ruben in front of her. "Ghell, this is Ruben. He's been watching you all morning, I'm sure you noticed."

"Oh, yes." Ghell nodded. Ruben looked up at him, not with shyness as he might've in the past, but a bright curiosity. "Kosovo, dear Ruben. I'm sorry it took so long for us to meet."

"Don't be," Ruben smiled up at him, shaking his hand. "Ma's happy you're here. That's all that matters." He hugged the older Wolf tightly, making Ghell chuckle and hug him in return.

"Alright, you two. Let's get going." Selena said as she passed Luna off to Ruben and took Ghell's arm in her own. "I have a wedding to get to."

The family met the procession at the gate out of the village, putting Selena, Ghell, Kreston, and Ruben up on horses to follow behind Donan who led the procession as was his duty as Head Elder. Most of the tribe followed with white and teal banners, the colors of their gods meant to bring good luck and happiness to the couple. Music was played on drums and pipes and stringed instruments, and then people of Inverness heard them coming long before they appeared out of the forest.

Selena kept glancing back towards Ruben as she heard Luna fussing. The little girl didn't like the noise all around her and she saw Ruben trying to soothe her as best as he possibly could. Dayja was soon there, taking her granddaughter and nuzzling against her until the little girl calmed. The entire family had an interest in raising the dear little white wolf. She would never have to worry about anything her entire life.

The procession was greeted by the Ghis headed by Brogan and Julia, and led up to the keep where the Lunasian priest was waiting. Kreston rode ahead after one last kiss with Selena, his brother and Brogan joining him at the end of the aisle where others took their horses for them. Selena was helped down from her horse by Ghell and Ruben went down the aisle as ring-bearer with Luna who quietly watched everything with wonder.

Selena stood there next to Ghell, looking up at him with a smile on her face. This was what she had wanted since she had first realized she loved Kreston. She wanted a family that she could love and watch grow. Ruben was the perfect son and Luna was a sweet baby. Now, Ghell was back in her life and everything was so right.

"I know you'll love him." Selena said softly as she took Ghell's arm. "And I'm so happy that you're here for this moment."

"Your Wolf awaits," Ghell murmured. "I love you, my sweet little girl. And I'm so proud of you." He kissed her cheek one last time before they made their way down the green-carpet aisle in the road leading up to the courtyard gate threshold. Ghell met Kreston with an embrace, murmuring in Erygonian in his ear, a language Selena still didn't quite know. Kreston nodded and Ghell set Selena's hand in Kreston's own.

Ghell went to join the Maliar and the Ghis, and Kreston walked with Selena to meet the Lunar priest. He hardly paid attention to the priest, too lost in looking at Selena. He only finally noticed when the ribbons were wrapped around their hands and the knife and needle were brought out. Both of them knew the ceremony well, and Kreston had no problem cutting his bound palm while the silver needle was given to Selena.

Selena had a smile on her lips as they started the ceremony, pricking her finger when the moment came. She was surrounded by people that she loved and people that loved her. This moment was truly magical. She might have been the most quiet of the Ghis, but she was also the one that loved most fiercely. That was certainly true when it came to Kreston.

With their hands together on the ribbons, Kreston sliced the strands apart with the silver blade and all Inverness erupted in celebration. Kreston kissed Selena with the most excited and deeply happy energy she'd ever known from him. As their lips parted, the old priest pressed a cloth into Selena's hand for the cut on Kreston's palm, and they were ushered into the courtyard where everything was set up outside in the warm open air for a feast and music.

Selena dutifully cleaned his cut, kissing him with a passion that she had reserved for the love of her life. That love was apparent as they made their way to the feast, sitting beside one another, holding hands and kissing freely. She had found happiness and now that her family was complete again, she was looking forward to the future.

"You'll have to mark me again tonight, Kres." She whispered against his ear, giving him a sweetly seductive grin. "Ma will watch Luna and Ruben for us."

"Gladly," he grinned at her. It would be their first time since before Luna was born, and the wolf she'd so missed was ready to come out again.

As was Invernessian custom, Selena was brought Kipper eggs by the children in her family. They'd made six for her, all beautifully painted and made from stones at the loch's north cliff. One was decorated with a blue-eyed white wolf in honor of Luna by some of the werefolk children.

Selena gathered the kipper eggs in her lap, kissing each child that came to offer them to her. She would give them to Luna when she was ready to be married. She so desperately wanted to start her own traditions with her little family. It was incredibly important to her.

Watching everyone enjoying themselves, she smiled to Ghell. He was sitting in the sunlight, content as he watched the children that were now grown interacting with their own families. She was sad that he didn't have anyone to love for himself.

There was a beautiful red wolf there from the tribe that she knew well. Katina had lost her mate two summers before when their small daughter was an infant. Katina had the same lost soul that Ghell did. It made the gears in her mind start to turn so much that she was soon sitting at Ghell's side, giving him a smile.

"You should go ask someone to dance. You use to love dancing with Ma all the time." She said softly, looking up at him. "Katina doesn't have anyone to dance with. She's the red furred wolf over there with her little girl. Telma is a little sweetheart. She's two years old and as cute as can be. I think she's a little sweet on Ruben."

"Trying to set me up with someone already, hm?" Ghell asked with a chuckle. "I know you far too well, eli." But he looked to Katina, noting the forlorn smile on her face that he had often had himself in Spain after his love had passed. "She does look like she could use a friend at the very least. No one ought to be alone at a wedding." He rose, kissing Selena's cheek before he left her side and went to introduce himself to Katina. She seemed glad for the company and Telma instantly wanted to play. He loved children so, and asked both mother and daughter to dance. Katina was surprised that a stranger was so kind, but joined him with her daughter in one arm resting on her hip.

Selena smiled as she watched Ghell go to introduce himself to Katina and Telma. The red wolf looked so excited that someone was talking to her and taking an interest in her daughter. She hoped that maybe something would kindle between the both of them.

"Don't you dare say a word, Boar." Selena said as a familiar form sat down next to her, a kiss pressed against her cheek.

"'Bout what?" Boar grinned like he had when he would tease her as a child. He took her hand and his smiled became softer. "I jus' wanted t'say I'm really happy for ya, love. Kreston's a great Wolf." He had not questioned a single thing about Kreston and Selena after Kreston's role as Julia's right-hand man in the last war. It was perhaps the only instance thus far that Boar had given complete trust to another man when it came to his family.

"You just like him because he knows his way around a sword." Selena teased her brother right back, kissing his cheek in return. "It means a lot to me that you like him, Boar. Your opinion means a lot to me."

She took his hand and held it as she watched everyone celebrating around them. "I'm happy Ghell is home. It made today even more special."

"You should've seen Ma this morning," he murmured. "She came rushin' out of 'er room, askin' everyone if she'd been dreamin' or if she'd really seen Ghell. I haven't seen 'er tha' happy since Vincenzo arrived. She 'ad a moment with 'im while y'were with yer Wolf, cried when she saw 'im again and was sure he was real."

Selena simply smiled as he told her about their Ma's reaction. She glanced over at Boar, laughing softly as her hand slapped down on his thigh.

"Let's go and dance." Selena said with a slight laugh. "With your ruined knees and my lack of grace, we'll make a scene at the very least."

"I can dance pretty well still, actually, so you'll make a scene," he grinned at her and rose with a bit of her help. With a hand on her waist and the other linked with her own, he proved that he'd actually learned to dance fairly well. It was something he'd learned just for Emma, though he'd never tell that it was just so he could romance her.

Dancing with her brothers was one of many highlights of Selena's day. Dancing with Kreston was perhaps the best. He looked so handsome and happy as he danced with her. She did notice that Ghell was spending his time with Katina, making the young widow laugh with his warm sense of humor.

"We should have parties like this more often." Selena said as she nuzzled against Kreston. "It has done everyone a world of good."

"Anything good is an excuse for a celebration, ask any Lunar," Kreston murmured as he smiled down at her. She'd seen some fair evidence of that claim. On the Lunars' calendar, there was a special holiday every one and a half moons, but they found other things, like good hunts, new babies, weddings, and even just restlessness to plan parties even if it was only gathering friends to sing, dance, eat, and just be merry.

"I might have encouraged Ghell to talk to Katina." Selena confessed, giving her mate a grin. "He looks much happier talking to her and Telma then he was last night."

"If she doesn't mind a man twice her age, why not?" Kreston chuckled, knowing Selena had other motives than just getting the two to talk. Katina was nearly thirty, having waited a while to have her baby, whereas Ghell was close onto fifty.
