Pure Moonlight (closed)

"I do know. Each and every time you kiss me so sweetly." She murmured softly, lifting her head to kiss him gently as he leaned over her body. "And every time I look at our children, I know that my wolf will never leave me or let me down."

Kreston was glad to simply hold her for a while longer before they headed home to get changed into fresh clothes and pick up the children. When they arrived at Inverness Keep, Ruben was chasing about with Gabriel, though he was ever watchful over Luna who was in Kitty's arms as she sat with Vincenzo in the garden. When Ruben saw his parents coming, he smiled brightly only to be barreled over by his cousin.

Selena laughed as Ruben played with Gabriel, the two boys as close as brothers. She moved towards her mother, kissing her cheek before she looked down at little Luna slumbering in the warm sunlight.

"Was she a good girl for you?" Selena asked, sitting down beside her mother and Vincenzo as she took her daughter back into her arms.

"An absolute angel. Never cried once, just quietly let us know when she wanted something," Vincenzo chuckled. "I've never met such a quiet child. Even Kate found her voice after a couple weeks. Luna seems to be content just keeping to herself."

"She'll be like Ruben in that regard. He could cry with the best of them, but he was so content to just be on his own when he was her age." Selena commented as she brought Luna up to kiss her forehead gently. "I might be lucky to get two children that are well behaved and smart."

"If these past three months are anything to go by, you just might," Kitty added. "She's even better behaved than Brogan was." Though Selena was too remember Brogan as a baby, he'd been just like Ruben growing up until he saw Tamblin nearly kill Durban, then he took control of his own future and a year later, became a King.

"That surely doesn't give me comfort." Selena said dryly as she looked at her mother. "He's a holy terror now."

"Oh, he is not," Kitty scolded her lightly. "He's still the sweet little boy he was until you put a sword in his hands. You should see him with Ciaran and Annie and Julia. It's absolutely precious."

"Talkin' about me?" Brogan asked as he came to stand before them, having heard them from afar. He leaned down to kiss Selena's cheek. "Hiya, love."

"Talking about how much of a terror you became." Selena said with a smile as her brother kissed her cheek. "You were such a sweet little boy. What went wrong?"

"Boar, mostly," Brogan said with a grin before his gaze fell to Luna. He hadn't gotten much of a chance to see her yet, but it was clear, as with all his nieces and nephews thus far, he loved her. "She's absolutely beautiful, Selena." He shared a knowing glance with her. He knew as well as Kitty that a nice family and a good home had been Selena's dream since she was quite young. "Well, I 'ave t'go down t'the lumber camp. I'll see ya Sunday fer a family dinner, aye?"

"I'll be there." Selena said as she kissed her brother's cheek again. "Wild wolves couldn't keep me away from family dinner."

"Tell tha' t'yer Wolf, then," Brogan teased before heading out on his way. Kreston had heard that, and fixed Brogan with an odd expression that made Brogan chuckle as he went. Ruben soon came to settle at his mother's feet, panting from running around so much, and Kitty stroked his dark fur with a smile.

"Hello, love." Selena said as Ruben sat at her feet, panting in the sun as Kitty brushed her fingers through his thick fur. "Did you have a good night with Gran and Grandpa? What adventures did you have while your Dad and I were gone?"

"I spent most of the night with Aunt Julia and Ciaran," he told her with a smile. He adored his young cousin and helping his favorite aunt care for the boy. "Grandpa took us out to help gather herbs this morning and I helped Chessie make breakfast."

"What herbs did you learn about?" Selena asked, looking towards Vincenzo with a smile, silently thanking him for taking an interest in her son. "And what did you help Chessie make? You know, she teaches everyone a new, special recipe. She taught me how to make those soft biscuits you like so much."

"He showed me how to tell the difference between poisonous plants and the usable herbs. And Chessie showed me how to make Grandpa's herb bread," he told her, and immediately was off to go fetch some for his parents to try.

Selena laughed as he was up and off to the kitchens to get some of the herb bread that Kitty had loved so much in her youth. "Thank you for showing him around the woods, Papa. He adores going out into the woods with his uncle."

"I know, darling. It's all he ever talks about, all his adventures in the forest and hunting. Well, then again, he does make it a point to talk about you often too. I haven't met a boy like him since your brothers." Vincenzo leaned over to kiss her cheek. He'd always been very free with his love to all people, but most of all his daughter and step-children and wife.

"You will both have to come for dinner tomorrow evening. Ghell might have a sweet spot for Katina the red wolf from the village. I encouraged the two of them to dance last night at the party." Selena said with a grin. "I know that you are a sucker for love, Ma."

"Katina? But she's just a baby," Kitty laughed. "But I think it'll do him some good to be around younger people. It always did when you lot were little. I suppose I could plan another wedding," she smiled to herself. She didn't really mean it, but she was perfectly ready if it turned out that Ghell and Katina grew close.

"Ma, Katina is only slightly younger than myself and she has a sweet little girl." Selena said with a laugh as her mother talked about planning another wedding. "I'm not sure that Ghell will move that quickly, but he certainly enjoyed talking to her last night. He even seemed to take a shine to little Telma."

"Of course he did, he's always adored children. You know that," Kitty nodded. "It's so wonderful to know he's back and he's safe now. I was afraid for so long... Tamblin always told me he'd let Ghell go, but it seems Oliver didn't agree and took matters into his own hands." Kitty had only ever truly hated one person, and it had been Oliver Colton. She still held and would hold to her dying day that Tamblin had been a good man underneath his madness and tortured mind.

"Ma, I seriously doubt that Da just let Ghell go anywhere." Selena said, not understanding how her mother could defend Tamblin despite all the bad things he had done to them in his life. "Ghell had a hard life where he ended up. It's my mission to make sure that he doesn't have to worry for anything the rest of his life here in Inverness."

Kitty didn't say anything to her comment about Tamblin. She'd long since given up trying to convince her children, especially Durban and Selena, that Tamblin had ever had anything good about him. "Well, he's certainly not going to want for anything while his little girl is around," Kitty mused with a soft smile, having always referred to Selena as such.

"Ma..." Selena said with an embarrassed tone to her voice. "I'm sure that there are more reasons that he came back to Inverness than just me."
