"I'm sure, but you're the only reason he needed. The poor man didn't have to trek across the mainland and the channel all the way through England and Scotland, but he did because of all your brothers and your sister, you were the one he had to make sure was alright."

"I have a good family now that makes sure I'm happy and healthy." Selena said, taking her mate's hand in her own and squeezing it tightly. "But it's nice to have him back in our lives. Too much time was lost because of Tamblin."

Kitty nodded slowly, though she knew the real cause of all that lost time came back to Oliver. Her children had only rarely seen Oliver and didn't know his role with Tamblin until they were much older. perhaps only Brogan really knew about Oliver after being attacked by one of his men. Ruben soon returned and the family stayed for lunch before heading home. Luna was perfectly quiet the whole time, content to watch the world pass by. Kitty had mentioned several times how like her own grandmother Luna seemed to be so far.

"Perhaps Granny Kayla touches the little girls in our family before they're born." Selena commented as Luna looked around at everything peacefully with those big blue eyes. "She's a little sweetheart just like Kayla was when she was her age."

"Well she certainly didn't get to you," Kreston commented playfully. Selena had always been quite different from any of the women in her family. Even Valentina was quieter, though Selena tended to enjoy sitting in deep thought more often.

"I take more after Tamblin." Selena said as she glanced towards her Ma, giving her a soft smile. "With my Ma's sweetness to even things out."

"Oh, stop that. Shoo," Kitty waved them away, but not before giving each of them a kiss on the cheek. It was time for a night at home as their own little family.

Selena was enjoying her time with Ruben and Luna in front of the fire in their little house. Luna was slumbering as Ruben snuggled against her side, asking her all sorts of questions about Inverness and her own family. He had never been so curious before.

"What's with all the questions, love?" Selena asked as a knock sounded at the door and Kreston moved to let Ghell inside.

"I don't know much about the Ghis side or Inverness," he reasoned as Ghell entered looking quite content with himself. "And I'm hoping I can start working with Uncle Durban soon." He got on well with his formerly-nomadic uncle thanks to their mutual love of nature. Ruben probably got along with him as well as he did with Taqu'un.

"Durban is a very smart man. If he does decide that you're good enough to start teaching, you have to listen to him very closely." Selena said, giving Ghell a smile as he walked in. "Kosovo, uvore. How has your day been?"

"Absolutely beautiful," Ghell said with a smile. "Katina is a lovely woman and her daughter is incredibly sweet." He'd spent the day with the two, and Katina had been nothing but sweet to him especially seeing how Telma loved him already.

"So, you don't regret being made to talk to her?" Selena asked, giving him a grin that only he seemed to pull out of her. "Because I think she is a lovely person too. Very special and open to new things in life."

Selena glanced down at Ruben as he pinned his ears back slightly. "And Telma has a little crush on Ruben. She might be a toddler, but when he's near, she only has eyes for him."

Ruben's ears laid back in embarrassment as Ghell laughed and reached out to pay his shoulder. "Already set to be a heartbreaker, hm? It's alright, most of the men in your family like their wives young."

"Ma..." Ruben grumbled.

"I think it's sweet, Ruben. She wants to follow you through the village so badly when she sees you." Selena said as her son grumbled at her. "Just be extra sweet to her. You never know what the future might hold."

"How come no one teases Ghell about Katina?" He mumbled, making Ghell chuckle softly.

"Oh, they will, Ruben. But I'm too old to get so embarrassed, so it's not as fun."

"Wait until your uncles start teasing you too. You'll never live it down." Selena said as she kissed his forehead gently and ruffled his fur. "And then you can do the same for Luna when the time comes. She'll need all the teasing from her big brother to keep her honest."

"She's gonna be trouble, you know," Ruben told his mother. "If she's anything like anyone else in our family." The women in the family, both by blood and married in, had all gotten their men through less than normal circumstances. Selena herself had found hers in a bear trap of all places.

"Well, hopefully little Luna learns from all of our mistakes and stories and makes the right decision." Selena said as Kreston stepped into the room with refreshments. "Thank you, love."

She tilted her head upwards to kiss her mate, giving him a smile as Ruben hopped up to serve everyone the crusty bread and hot tea.

The day was blissfully peaceful for the family, and was the herald to many lovely years to come. Inverness thrived and became a hub of culture in Scotland and a safe haven for the werefolk hunted for their fur or heads. Her king was steadfast and powerful with his queen beside him, and their children grew into fine young men and women, though the youngest, twins Sam and Rho, were a hurricane and a half, and their red-haired sister Kate was even more a pride and a strain for her parents some days. Inverness' future was secure.

In the Gol Dun village after seventeen years, Donan had long since passed away and passed his position to none other than Taqu'un, being his grandfather. Volgo and Dayja had been considered, but they had declined thanks to their age and their need for peace in their twilight years. Taqu'un at only his mid-forties was one of the youngest Head Elders a Lunar tribe had ever known, but he led with a powerful grace and made sure to sharpen all aspects of himself to better serve the tribe. Ellen was right beside him doing the same, and their daughter Adane followed in her father's footsteps and became one of the less-common but not unheard of female warriors for the village. She had ended up quite like her dear Aunt Selena, extremely tough and able to stand up to the weight of the world.

Katina and Ghell had never made an official announcement, but it had become certain they were together when she gave birth only a year after they'd met to an ash-grey wolf boy and a twin human sister who turned into a lighter grey wolf at ten. Their names were Norr and Arin.

Selena's family had met an equally lovely future. Ruben had become a powerhouse thanks to all his time with his Uncle Durban, and he had become head of the Lunars' lumber camp and fishermen both. At twenty-seven, he was in his prime but had not yet found his mate for life. There had been a few girls who'd caught his eye, but none he chose. Telma still had an eye for him, being nineteen now. Whether the two had any relationship beyond friendship, no one knew.

Luna had grown into a beautiful young woman. At seventeen, her fur was long and absolutely pure white. Her eyes had remained blue, never turning golden or amber like her father's. She'd embraced her grace and beauty and gift of calming others from a very young age, and had become a spiritual guide and a healer. Her calming presence had saved the lives of many panicked people who might've strained themselves to death from bloodloss or shock. Even so young, she'd already been declared a master healer by her Aunt Valentina and by the head village healer. She had gone to live with a few other healers at fifteen when she came of age, wanting to study all she could. Ruben had left home to build his own near to the river for his work.

There came a Saturday when the little family had planned to meet for dinner as they did every week, Sundays reserved for the big family dinners at the keep in town. Selena and Kreston had several hours yet to make dinner, so he'd cornered her in the kitchen and had set in with kisses on her slender throat as he pressed close against her. He had some silver fur now, peppered across his body, but most noticeably in his short mane and his chest where it was forming a sort of small crest that actually looked quite dignified and handsome. He'd changed very little, ever the attentive father and husband and lover.

KReston had done his very best since the children moved out on their own to make sure that the house was still filled with love. Selena was incredibly happy and very proud of her little family, especially Ruben and Luna. She never would have thought when she was younger that she would have found the peace that she had now, but there she was, living each day like it would be her last.

"Kres." Selena murmured softly as her wolf cornered her and kissed the sensitive skin of her throat. "Love, if you start this now, you know we'll waste the entire day away."

Age hadn't yet touched Selena. Her hair was as dark as it had always been and her skin smooth save for the telltale signs of childbirth that she had gone through so many years ago. She was still a beauty but didn't give a care to the fact. She dressed in trousers like her brothers, she wore tunics that were serviceable. Very rarely would she wear a dress, but Kreston always let her know just how much he adored it when she did.

"My urges aren't that out of control," he growled playfully, even though he knew some days, time could really get away from them when they were locked together in passionate bliss. He pressed a kiss where her neck and shoulder joined, her mark hidden just under the fabric of her tunic. But then he pulled back with a sigh. "Never mind, Luna's early." He could hear her approaching before she even came in. "Tonight, then." He smiled adoringly down at his mate and kissed her once more before Luna's calm and gentle voice floated in. She had a lovely voice and it was absolutely beautiful when she sang. She loved music, and often sang the most difficult and most haunting songs at festivals.

"In here, love," Kreston called as he stepped away from Selena. Luna appeared in the entry way to the kitchen and smiled softly to her parents.

"Hi, Da," she said softly, kissing her father's cheek before coming to her mother. "Ma. What have you two been up to today?"

"Oh, the usual. Just wasting time being old, hopeless romantics."

"Well I can leave if I'm interrupting," Luna teased them both in her soft way.

"Of course you're not leaving." Selena said as she kissed her daughter's cheek. "I'm still sad you moved out on your own, so I enjoy having you here at least once a week."

Luna was absolutely stunning, a perfect white wolf in every single sense of the word. She was sure that there would be many men out there that took an interest in her, but Luna seemed to be like Valentina and only interested in her studies at the moment. That suited her and Kreston just fine.

"Let's fix some tea while we wait for your brother. He seems to lose track of time lately." Selena murmured as she helped Luna prepare mugs of sweetened tea before they all sat down at the table to enjoy each other's company.

"With all those women trying to catch him, of course he does," Luna said with a chuckle as she put a kettle over the fire. Kreston and Selena hadn't been aware of the women interested in Ruben, but it was hardly a surprise. He was one of the most secure and able bachelors in the village and hadn't shown a single bit of interest in anyone.

"And what about you? Anyone caught your eye yet?" Kreston asked with a smile, though he knew he'd be heartbroken the day Luna found her own mate and would have even less time to spend with her parents if she kept at her work like she did.

"Maybe. But he's a scoundrel. Just because he's handsome doesn't mean I'll give him the time of day," Luna murmured.

"And who is he, Luna?" Selena asked, a little stunned that someone had caught her daughter's eye. "Is he from the village or from Inverness?"

"Neither. He's a Swedish sailor. His ship wrecked while in port in Aberdeen and he ended up jobless, so he came to the village for work. He's one of the river men who float the logs over to Inverness and get them on their way to other towns along the banks."

"But you say he's a scoundrel?"

"And a thief. The warriors have arrested him twice in two months for sneaking into Mrs. Aoli's cellars at night."
