"Everything has fallen into place." Selena said as she looked up at her mate with a smile. "We have a lovely little cub, a grandchild on the way, and a daughter who is starting her own life with the man that she loves. I would say that we're doing pretty well."

"We always have done well since coming here." Kreston kissed her lips and let his head rest on her shoulder. "You're a wonderful mother, and I couldn't imagine a better mate for me."

"We always have done well since coming here." Kreston kissed her lips and let his head rest on her shoulder. "You're a wonderful mother, and I couldn't imagine a better mate for me."

"We've been together a long time, Kres." Selena said as he rested his head against her shoulder and held her tightly. "Since I was 19. I was too stubborn to admit that I was a fool in love back then. You were too in love to let me back away gracefully."

"That sounds like us," he nodded slightly. "But now twenty-eight years later, I don't think too much has changed. You're still stubborn as they come and I'm still too in love to care."

"You're lucky I'm so stubborn." Selena murmured as she kissed her mate and allowed him to take her to bed soon after.

A week later, the weavers of the village were sent off to Edinburgh with great fanfare. Meeting with the Queen of Scotland was a huge honor and they were determined to show their best work. However, their best worker was not on the trip. Labor pains had started far too early and Telma found herself bed bound at Vincenzo's insistence. She was sad, but her cub was far more important.

Ruben was incredibly nervous at the cub coming so early, but to his credit, he appeared calm and unshakable. He was at Telma's call, but also managed to field guests coming to see their friends or wish them well.

"Ru, you need to settle down." Telma said as he checked on her for the twentieth time that day, a smile on her face as she saw the worry in his golden eyes. "You grandfather said we still have a long time to go. The pains have already stopped. It's all just a precaution."

"I can't be too careful," he murmured, coming to her side and nuzzling against her neck. "I don't want anything to go wrong. And I'm worried. This is too early."

"I have the best healers in Inverness watching me, Ru." She murmured softly as she nuzzled back against her mate. "And I promised Da that I wouldn't move from this bed until the cub was safely here."

She smiled for her mate, laughing at his serious demeanor. "I'm sad that I'm not going to Edinburgh, but excited that we're one step closer to our little family being all together."

"If everything goes well there, you may well be on the next journey to Edinburgh. I'm sure Marianne will love your work." He heard a knock at the front door and rose from her side to answer it and found Ghell there. Ghell came in to see Telma, sitting down beside her.

"How are you, love?" He asked softly.

"I'm fine, Da." Telma said as she kissed her father's cheek with a smile and settled back against her mound of pillows that Ruben had situated behind her. "A little bored. Tired. Arin has already been by this morning with breakfast for the both of us. She said that the Irish healers will be here next week to look at her leg. I don't think I've seen her that excited in a long time."

"She's been talking about it nonstop," Ghell chuckled. "She's so excited to go out and run again. After how well little Cassandra seems to be doing after the wolves' help, Arin is sure they can help her too."

"I'm happy for her." Telma said with a smile towards her father as the hulking wolf sat on the edge of her bed. "I never get to see Norr anymore. He's always too busy to come and visit. Arin said that he doesn't spend much time with her either."

"Considering he's spending all his time becoming a proper warrior and trying to hide a secret love, I'm not surprised he's always somewhere else." Ghell chuckled softly. "I know a wolf in love when I see him."

"You didn't know that I was a wolf in love for a very long time." Telma teased her father as he told her about Norr. "You might not have known until I showed up with this belly."

She had grown large during her pregnancy. Her belly was sometimes cumbersome, but she was completely happy. She glowed, just as he own mother had done when she had carried Norr and Arin. She could still remember how happy her Ma was when she had found out that the twins were on their way. She cried when she told Ghell the happy news.

"Do you think you could talk Ma into making some of her chicken and dumplings?" Telma asked with a sly look on her face, knowing her mother would make her anything that she asked for. "And some sugar cookies?"

"I knew you were in love, I just didn't know who with." At her request, he chuckled and kissed her cheek. "I could probably talk her into it, but it'll take a lot of sweet-talking."

"Hardly," Ruben laughed as he entered. "You can charm Katina into anything. Telma got it from you "

"It's what I've been craving lately. And Ruben is a terrible cook." Telma said as she looked at her mate with a smile. "He burns nearly everything. Thankfully, his Grans have been bringing by enough food to keep us going."

"I cook just fine over a campfire. For some reason I can't manage a cooking pot or an oven," Ruben sighed.

"We'll get you some lessons with Hara so you can treat my little girl to a good dinner," Ghell chuckled and patted Ruben's shoulder. "But knowing Dayja, she'll want to teach you herself."

"Chessie offered to teach him, but he won't leave my side." Telma said as she gave her mate a fond smile of a young woman in love. "He doesn't want to miss a moment. I keep telling him that he'll only be bored, but he still won't leave."

"He knows if he does, his family will kill him if Norr doesn't do it first," Ghell laughed. "But he's a good man, taking care of you so well. Your cub is going to have quite the protector."

Telma talked to her father until she felt tired. Sleep was important and she got as much of it as she possibly could in preparation for the cubs. She slept into the early evening when the sounds of voices in the other room woke her. She could hear Selena and Kreston, her Ma and Da, her sister's voice. The smells of chicken and dumplings and fresh baked sugar cookies soon filled the air. It made her smile as Kreston appeared at the bedroom door.

"Ma really brought me dinner?" She asked softly with tears in her eyes.

Kreston couldn't help a soft laugh, "What, did you think she wouldn't?" He came to her side to scoop her up and bring her out to a comfortable chair in the living room where she could eat with her family. Ghell would certainly allow that much.

Mako was shaking with energy as Katina showed him how to stir the pot of soup. His tail was swishing back and forth, his eyes bright and ears alert as he pulled the big wooden spoon in the pot as Ruben got Telma settled and comfortable.

"Ruben!" Mako called out as he saw his brother, his little paws dancing on the stool that Katina had pulled out for him to stand on.

"He's been talking about you all afternoon, love." Selena said with a smile towards her oldest child.

"About me?" Ruben laughed softly, scooping up his little brother. "What's got you so excited, little cub?" In that moment, Selena saw the kind of father her son might be. He was calm, a little too serious most of the time, but he loved his family freely even if he was a little distrustful of strangers.
