"Play with me!" Mako announced as Ruben picked him up and asked him what had him so excited.

Soon, the cub was slipping from his arms to the bag that Selena had bought with a few toys to occupy him. He pulled out his wooden house and one of his wooden balls, showing his brother both as Telma laughed softly at the little cub.

"Seems like you have an admirer, love." Telma said with a smile as the door opened and Luna stepped into the cabin with Jan in tow, Norr a few steps behind them. "Well, look who is finally coming to see his poor, housebound sister."

"I was working," Norr insisted, coming to her side to kiss her cheek, but there was the faint scent of another wolf on him. He didn't have a mate yet, but it was clear there was someone he was close to.

"I'm just happy that you're here now." Telma said with a smile as he brother kissed her cheek, telling her that he had been working. "I missed you."

Norr and Arin had always been tightly bonded together, but Telma had a special place in her heart for the little cubs that had helped bring her mother from sadness. She doted on them, protected them, and acted as a little mother to them when Katina and Ghell were busy.

Since Norr had grown up, he'd become a typical prideful man who didn't put a lot of stock in softness in public. But his soft spot for Telma had never diminished. So he Nuzzled against her cheek when she told him she had missed him. "I'll try to come around more often. If only to see my niece or nephew."

"You better come to see me, little brother." Telma said with a smile as Mako soon had Ruben playing a made up game with his red ball. "Little cub, Ru might be too serious for games. He's never been very good at them."

Telma laughed as her mate shot her a look, her smile showing how content she was at the moment to have her family near to her.

"I'll remember that for the future," Ruben told her, knowing he could easily hold it over her later.

"It only lasts in bursts, like his mother," Kreston assured Telma.

"The melancholy that runs in this family does not mean that we don't like to have some fun every once in a while." Selena said as she kissed Kreston's cheek and settled on the floor to play with Ruben and Mako. "Especially when it comes to little cubs."

"But when it comes to me, you're nothing but sour and mean," Kreston chuckled. "And poor Telma's going to have the same if she doesn't already. Hopefully her cub turns out like her instead of Ruben."

Ruben could only roll his eyes, "If it turns out too much unlike me, it'll be all sorts of trouble, worse than Norr."

"Trust me, Ru, this baby is 100% yours." Telma said as Katina announced that dinner was ready and with Luna's help, she soon started serving everyone.

Telma got the first bowl with a slice of crusty bread. Katina gently touched her daughter's cheek with a fond smile, a little sad that she was about to become a mother. There had been so much sadness when Telma's father had been killed that she hardly knew how she was going to make it through those dark days.

"He's watching over all of us, Mama." Telma said softly as she saw the sadness in her mother's eyes. "And I'm sure that he's very happy."

Ghell had also caught the glance between mother and daughter. He'd never been jealous or avoided talk of Katina's first mate, and he'd often gone with Katina to lay flowers at the foot of the tree that the other wolf had been buried by. When Katina came by him, he reached up to touch her cheek in return to offer a little comfort.

Katina gave her mate a smile, knowing that he never harbored any ill will towards the mate that she had loved and lost. In fact, he had take Telma and raised her like she were his own cub, no questions asked. It had done wonders to help Katina get over the pain of her loss.

The meal was a proper family gathering, just like what took place every week at the keep. Later in the evening, Karn arrived to check on Telma. He was one of the healers in charge of looking after soon-to-be mothers.

"Take some food home with you, Karn." Telma said as he stepped into the cabin that was bursting at the seams. "Mama aways makes more than enough."

She was incredibly happy in the moment, pain free and proud as a new mother could be. Mako was entertaining everyone, even bringing a smile to Norr's sour face as he danced and sang.

"Thank you, dear," Karn said with a smile, sitting beside her. "How are you feeling? Any labor pains or things of that nature?"

"I've felt wonderful today. I get tired easily, but it's a small price to pay." Telma said with a smile as Karn placed his hand on her swollen belly. "I have a feeling it's a little boy. Ruben thinks we're in for a girl."

"Whichever, I think you might just be in for two," Karn told her. Vincenzo and Luna had suspected it months before when her belly grew faster than normal. And now that her belly was so large and the first signs of labor coming on were so early, Karn seemed sure of their predictions.

"I don't even know if I can think about two babies." Telma said softly as Karn told her his suspicions. "Especially as active as the baby has been. They would run me ragged."

Luna grinned as she heard them talking, Mako in her arms talking to her in his made up baby language. Luna kissed his cheek and turned to look at the parents gathered at the table.

"I'm going to take this little cub for a run. Anyone else want to come?" She asked as Mako's tail immediately started to wag.

Jan of course rose to follow, and Kreston took Ruben's arm to bring him along. He needed to get out and get rid of some nervous energy. He hesitated, "Dad, I can't-"

"She's fine, Ruben. And you need to relax, if only for her sake. Come on," he took his son outside with them.

"Norr, come with me." Arin pestered her twin until he begrudgingly agreed. "I can't run fast, but I know you won't leave me behind."

Telma laughed softly as Kreston forced Ruben to go, a kiss given to her mate before he was led outside by his father for a run. It left her alone with the older members of the family and Karn, who was like a brother to them all.

"Ruben and I have been talking and if the cub is a boy, we want to name him Timmal." Telma said softly as she looked at her mother.

It had been her father's name and she still very much wanted to honor him in any way that she could. If her mother had a problem with the name, she would go a different route, but it felt very right.

"Timmal Volgo. Ru's had his mind set on using his grandfather's name for as long as I've known him."

"And if it's a girl?" Karn asked with a smile. Ruben had hoped for a little girl since the moment he and Telma decided to have cubs. It was a recurring trait of Ghis men- strong and stubborn but easily swayed by the charms of their daughters.

"I don't know. He hasn't told me." Telma said with a smile. "He's pretty secretive about a few things. I just want a healthy cub."

"I'd get to talking about it because you might need it soon," Karn told her. Once he was sure she was all set, he rose and picked up his bag. "Well, Petu is waiting for me. Just send someone along if you need anything, Telma. And I don't want you on your own til this cub comes."

"I'm sure Ruben isn't going to leave me alone a single moment. You don't have to worry about that." She said softly with a smile towards Karn.

"If not him, then I'm sure your father will take his place when he's out and about." Karn gave her one last smile. "I'll see you soon, Telma." Once he was on his way, Ghell came to sit by Telma and cuddled her close against his side as he'd done when she was small.

Telma smiled happily as Ghell was at her side, cuddling her close as he had when she was a little cub. Her cheek pressed against his dark fur and she closed her eyes, remembering happier times with her Da. He would adore her cubs and they would have a lovely childhood simply because he was in it.

"Thank you for being my Da." She murmured softly. "And thank you for making Mama so happy. You have no idea how much it means to me."
