"When it came time for closing, the pretty lady stepped out the back door and was gone. The cook stood at the front entrance and ushered everyone out. I lingered until all had left and then slipped back in to talk with the cook, 'Need any help cleaning up in here?' I asked. The cook grunted and then said, 'why, you thinkin of staying and helping out?' I rolled up my sleeves and pushed on in and started cleaning up the mess. The cook locked the front door and diappeared into the back. By the time I had cleaned up the front I was bushed. It had been a long day, but coming here had been a real delight. I walked into the back and no one was there. The kitchen was still stacked with dirty dishes. I grabbed an apron off hook, tied it on, and got busy. Long after the sun had vanished from the sky I leaned back to view my handy work. Saddness entered my mind to realize that within a few short hours all the work I had done would be undone. I took off the apron and hung it back up. I walked out into the front again and sat down at one of the table and picked up the paper. The next thing I knew the sun was filtering through the large windows and the tables had begun to fill again. I then heard the most beautiful voice say:



I looked up and there she was. Crisp as a new dollar bill, smiling and ready for a new day. *this is going to be a great day* I whisper under my breath. She looks at me and winks. *yep, a really great day*

Sorry QM, I can't stay and play today. Got work to do, but I'll be thinking of you
