Rambling Rosie's Retreat

I mean the crust around the edges on a normal slice of bread - not the crust.

Also, I have discovered, that buttering with a spoon and having one slice up and the other down makes a superior butty.
🍞
That way up.

And then one upside down.
Okay, I'm now understanding the orientation of the two slices of bread. But how does this make it superior? Is one bottom section of crust plus one top section of crust better tasting than two top sections or two bottom sections?

Because the bottom squarer crust on the base of the bread is more chewy than the top.
You can either have a slice that is all the chewy and all the soft , but my method makes it even.
