Reading Books For Pleasure

I'm reading an advanced reading copy of Hunter Morgan's thriller Don't Turn Around. It's not out until July and it's the first book of hers I've read.

And also The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. One of my fave books of all time, despite the fact it makes me sob like a baby.

Reading The Good Guy by Dean Koontz..it is slow going as I have not read Koontz in a long time and I am not used to his terminology right now..It is a pretty good book though and I am getting into it, it is just going slow

I haven't read Koontz in a long time either. At least five years, but I've been looking at picking up The Good Guy.:)

I'm really excited about May 15th, the next John Connolly book- the Reapers- comes out. :D

It has been 5 years or longer for me..I buy all of his books when they come out on paperback to have them when I do want to read them....

The Good Guy is a good book and it is starting to pick up!

I'm just re-reading stuff. I got the new Kresley Cole book, and it was great. Then I reread the whole series. Now I'm just killing time till the new Laurell K Hamilton comes out. :nana:

Night Bites by Nina Bangs is turning out to be quite enjoyable!

Rejuvenile by Christopher Noxon sounded like a cool book but it's too scholarly for my taste. At this point I'm just wondering what is the point.

Our BDSM book of the month is quite hot. Sure it's frivolous fantasy but still, it kinda works.

:rose:

KK~ Thank you, I might just bite the bullet and pick up The Good Guy :)

I'm eagerly awaiting the LKH one, Sherrilyn Kenyon's Acheron and J.R Ward's Lover Enshrined.

I rarely get to read for pleasure since I am always reading work-related materials/data. I finally started reading King's Duma Key and I'm enjoying it's pace.

You are welcome Shy.....hope you enjoy the book once you pick it up..

I am waiting for Janet Evanovich's Fearless Fourteen to come out...just looked and like I thought it comes out on my birthday! WOOHOO..

If you have never read her, her books are fast pace and hilarious...I can usually read them in one sitting!

Lilith, I tend to read a range of work/school materials too. But I'm a read-a-holic!

KK, are you a Ranger or a Joe gal? ;) *points to self* Ranger gal here:D

Damn! My library doesn't carry this book!

The Haunted Vagina by Mellick.

This is an interesting story by Mellick about a man who hears voices coming from his girlfriend's vagina. She sends him inside after the voices, and he crawls into her, shrinking as he goes, and discovers a world inside her full of people that look like cartoon fairies. One of them is a cute girl who used to be his girlfriend's imaginary friend before the girlfriend showed up. The girl falls in love with the narrator, and tries to make him stay. He must decide between staying with her and going back to his girlfriend. Then he starts to change...

This was possibly one of Mellick's most entertaining books. The story is unique and fast paced, and in the end everything works out well. The characters are great. The narrator's girlfriend switches moods so quickly and forgets about him while he's inside of her and does something with another guy in a scene that's worth the price of the book alone. It is fast paced and a bit too short, but I would rather be left wanting more than wishing a book had been shorter. A sequel to this one would be interesting.

I'm reading Fateful Choices by Ian Kershaw. It's regarding the decisions taken during the year of 1940-1941, how they were arrived at, what other options there were and how those decisions shaped the future of the world. Very interesting, but then to me Ian Kershaw is a veritable god on all things WWII. shame he teaches at Sheffield uni, wish he taught nearer my school!

This week I've finished three books and hope to finish another before weeks end.

White Night by Jim Butcher. My clear favorite!

Submission by Martha Blau. This is our BDSM Book of the Month.

Gods In Alabama by Joshilyn Jackson. This book surprised me. I thought it would be all preach-y but thank goodness it's not.

I can't quite decide whether I should be offended at the portrait she painted of Southerners in the Bible Belt or not. She is from there so that helps me not get as upset but still, I feel a little put out. Not all of us are religious, prejudiced and close minded.

She wrote and engaging story. The characters were interesting and strong. I was pleasantly surprised overall.

Alabama Moon by Watt Key was pretty good. It's a YA book. A very quick read for me. Not my usual type of book at all but quite fascinating in it's way.

:rose:

I'm re-reading Lick of Frost. I'm impatiently waiting for the money to get the next anita blake book. *taps fingers*

Thunder Moon by Lori Handeland was very good for me.

Now, looking at her web site, it seems I've skipped a few of her books. That gives me some books to look forward to as well.

I think I read one of her's a couple of years ago. I'm thinking it was perhaps, Blue Moon. I loved it too. So, more for me!!!

Grace,

Someone in one of my books clubs just told me, that when we get together (probably next month) she will lend me her copy of the new Laurell K. Hamilton. Or was that Charlaine Harris? Well, whichever will be yummers, I'm sure!

:rose:

Boy some how I missed this thread. Glad someone posted and moved it up. I read alot and keep all my favs. Not enough room in the house for everything.

My fav authors right now are:
Laurell K Hamilton
Sherrilyn Kenyon (saw her at a signing not long ago)
Christine Feehan
Charlaine Harris (can not wait for the Sept 7th debut of True Bolld on HBO)
Sunny
Mariah Stewart
Kim Harrison
Lisa Jackson
Kay Hooper
Robert Jordan

I could go on. I hate :eek:waiting a year for the next book in a series. So I have to find a new series to read while waiting, then I have to find another while waiting for that one. It is a never ending cycle.:D

Welcome! You probably missed this thread cause it's really only at the top at the beginning of the month. If you go to the first page of the thread you'll find all the books we've reviewed - you can review them any time you want. In other words, if you see anything you've read, post a review! We'll add that review to the ones there.

Thanks for the welcome.

I have read several of the books listed I will have to just sit back and think what to write about them.
