Reading Books For Pleasure

Thanks for the welcome.

I have read several of the books listed I will have to just sit back and think what to write about them.

Ok, silly me. For some reason I thought I was in the bdsm book discussion club thread. their is not a list of books on the first thread - that's on the discussion club thread.

I need to get more sleep.

There are lot's of great books mentioned on this thread.

There is another thread called What Are You Reading, I think.

And there is the BDSM Book of the Month Club that Gracie was referring to earlier here:

We'd love to have you join us on all of them!

Welcome from one book lover to another!

I'm reading - The Scent of Shadows by Vikki Petterson. It's the first in the Zodiac series and I'm really enjoying it.

but Blood Noir is out, and I have to see if I can find a copy at my local store before work.

If anyone is into 80's metal or 80's metal icons... I HIGHLY recommend The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx. I have just started reading it, and it is a great autobiographical account of fame, the music business, and the depths of addiction.

(I'm a biography/autobiography junkie...)

Sounds interesting.

Her books are very good reads indeed :) I also went to an event where she told about her writing and also had a Q & A session. And after that she autographed her books, so I got her John Hancock in one of my books.

And she's also easy on the eyes ;)

I don't read this type of book very often but I usually enjoy it when I do.

I also find myself wondering just how far off the beam self perception has taken the tale.

I usually find it somehow wraps up on a happy note. That's not realistic but it's nice to see.

I love to see growth.

I hate it when an interesting story concept is wasted in a book.

*sigh*

I'm very dissappointed with The Brief History of the Dead. It had a great concept but did nothing I was thrilled to read, with it.

I'm reading Lover Enshrined - JR Ward. I'm anxious to know what the other fans on here think of this book. I've heard some bad reports/reviews, but I cannot find a damn thing wrong with it. It had my crying into my coffee this morning, parts of the book were just that powerful.

I like the title. I've not read any of those books. I might being after reading about them.

They are very very good. One of my fave book series around at the moment, and it just keeps getting better, more powerful. She doesn't shy away from writing about anything which I admire.

Lover Awakened, Lover Revealed and Lover Unbound are the best books in my opinion, although the new on Lover Enshrined is proving to have tons of revelations.

Would they be good for the BDSM Book Club?

Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratechett wasn't nearly as funny to me as the authors seemed to think it was. I think it was so British (and this is a common problem for me) that I couldn't relate to, or get it, like some.

This is why I often attempt to make sure the author isn't British before taking a book home. I've read two other Neil Gaiman books and enjoyed them to a certain extent.

Terry Pratechett comes highly recommended. I'm sure I tried to read the first of his Discworld series and couldn't get into it.

SPOILER ALERT: (BTW, where the F did the colored fonts go? NM I found them. So I'm putting the spoiler in white. That way folks that don't want to read it won't have to.)

I was happy that being human won out over Heavenly or Infernal powers.

Next up, a Mary Janice Davidson book, Sleeping with the Fishes. It should make me laugh much more effectively and often. However, it doesn't feature a vampire. *POUT* I'm putting my faith in Mary Janice that she will make anything she writes work for me. We shall see . . .

Note to self:

Two books in a row that I really didn't much like makes for a cranky girl. Pick better from now on please

or else!

I'm interested, but waiting for it to come to the used book store. Her books are good, but not good enough to pay full price for. lol

I only pay full price for books that are for school (and only when I can't find them used) or for gifts (and sometimes not even then).

LOL!

I'm enjoying Sleeping with the Fishes by Mary Janice Davidson so far.

I get most of my books from charity shops and the library unless it's something I want really badly.

Most books I don't want just around gathering dust. I have thousands of books. It took me a while to realize I don't need this many books around me.

The library saves me so much money! I support my libraries!

Amen to that! Some of the most beautiful buildings are libraries.

My favourite Library is the Glasgow school of art library designed by Charles Rennie MacIntosh it's exquisite.

Kewl!

I love great and beautiful buildings but I love books more. Anywhere with enough books I'm happy.

Throw in a coffee and I'm double happy.

LOL!
