Reading Books For Pleasure

A few days ago, I finished reading "The End Of Mr. Y", and I must say that it I don't think it was that good a read. It's was a bit strange and didn't manage to hold my attention very well, and it took me quite a while to get through it.

I then started "The Sword of Truth", and so far it have caught my fancy, and it's like the first 80 pages I've read in it, have been way more interesting than "The End Of Mr. Y" And from what I've seen, there are 10 books in the serie, so there's going to be a lot of reading to do!

Those look interesting.

I read a YA book.

Vampire Beach Bloodlust by Alex Duval

of course you can

Tell me more?

Please?

:rose:

Um its the 4th in the series starting with the Vampire's Seduction. Its about William Culyer Thorne and his offspring Jack Mcshane, living in Savannah and trying to keep all the other vampires in their town at bay.

www.ravenhartbooks.com

is the authors website, theyre good books.

If you like vampire books I also suggest the book Dead Witch Walking and that series by Kim Harrison as well as the L.A. Banks vampire huntress series.

www.vampirehuntress.com - L. A. Banks

www.kimharrison.net - Kim Harrison, Dead Witch Walking

I read a Steven King book for the first time in a long time, "Cell".

Started off pretty good but ended up as a rewrite of The Stand.

I'll have to look into them.

I loved the Dead Witch Walking series but I didn't much care for the L.A. Banks books.

I swore off King a long time ago but last year, I saw a book with handcuffs on the cover art and couldn't resist picking it up.

Mistake!

I found L.A. Banks is easier to read if you separate it. I cant read more than two at a time. I have to read something in between or I get bored for some reason. I really did like the mention of Lilith. ;)

Dead Witch Walking is still my favorite series next to Twilight. I know I know, blah but im a silly fan girl. :p

Havent read those yet tbh.

Ive noticed I read books so darn fast. I read all the Twilight books in a week and I bought 4 books about 2 weeks ago and im on the last one I bought. I read Sharilyn Kennyon's Devil May Cry and that was good, but I wanted to wait for the prequel to read any more of hers called Acheron. I like her but Barnes and Noble labels her and alot of my I consider SciFi authors as Romance. How is a bloodsucking vampire novel romance?

I see a lot of so called vampire and supernatural stuff as romance these days and it doesn't make me happy. It's just not a genre that thrills me. If there is enough humor or supernatural in it or if it's got exceptional characters I can enjoy it though.

Vampire Lit is one of my main areas but much of so called vamp lit just doesn't do anything for me.

The Keep and

Midnight Mass by F. Paul Wilson are both very good and very different vampire books IMO. They are not related to one another either.

You Suck, A Love Story by Christopher Moore

Sisters of the Night : The Angry Angel by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. There is a sequel which is good as well. Each of them go through the rather epic story of how a girl becomes "a bride of Dracula." This also qualifies as historical fiction btw.

Fat White Vampire Blues by Andrew Fox. There is a good sequel as well.

A Chill In the Blood and other Jack Flemming books in the series by P.N. Elrod

Interview With A Vampire, The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice.

Guilty Pleasures and other Anita Blake books by Laurell K. Hamilton

Blood Price and other books in that series by Tanya Huff

The Sookie Stackhouse Series, the first one is titled, Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

The Queen Betsy series by Mary Janice Davidson's. It starts off with Undead and Unwed.

Fledging by Octavia Butler.

Ya know, I cant read Ann Rice or Laurel K Hamilton. I dont know why I just cannot read their style of writing. I mainly like vampire novels and Raven Hart so far has just kept me coming back without interruption for 4 books.

If you like other supernatural books as well I suggest the Dresden files by Jim Butcher. Love love love those books and BoB is amazing. I also enjoyed Rachel Caine's weather Warden series and Patricia Briggs has a series about Mercy who shape shifts into a coyote. I think the first book is Iron Kissed?

Have you read the Kushiel's Scion books? I know that was the first or one of the books in the series but for the life of me I cant remember the author. Ive debated picking that and a book called X Rated Bloodsuckers up :p

Hey, each to their own.

I am not sure I know the Raven Hart books.

I did enjoy the Dresden files and Patricia Briggs books. I've finished the second series yet.

I'm not sure about Rachel Caine I may have read one.

The Kushiel books are some of my favs that I've read over the past three years.

I got a book like that X Rated Bloodsuckers but I couldn't get into it.

Yeah I thought the X Rated Bloodsuckers looked funny but I definately couldnt carry that into a college class. LOL

I usually sit in the back of the class bored off my ass reading, so I was looking for new things to read. I just cant read normal books though, I seem to gravitate towards magical creatures, witches and mainly vampires.

I totally get that!

Nice to find a thread that I can find new books that people have read and not just go out buy it and find out it sucks.
Even better to know someone likes teh vampires as much as i do :p

Yeah!

I so agree. I don't buy many books though. I can't afford them. My library is my friend.

Lol Im pretty sure I spend most of my money on books. I love reading and if I dont have a book im usually pretty depressed :p

LOL im not alone! :p
I would definately suggest looking for Raven Hart though. The Vampires Seduction is the first in the series. :)

Hey thanks FurryFury and Nymphomaniacal for all of the new suggestions.
I have read the Mercy Thompson series and I like it. I just finished the last one Bone Crossed.
I too lost my taste for Steven King, Quite a while ago when I figured out that his books would depress me for days. Who needs outside help in getting depressed?

And the Mercy Thompson series im upset there wasnt a mention of a new one lol. She has another series but I havent really decided whether or not I want to start it.
Also Kelly Armstrong has Dime Store Magic that I really loved, I had forgotten about it.

Oh you should try the new series it starts out as a novella in a book of short stories called on the prowl ( I think) and then the first book is Anna And Charles(again I think), The Alpha and Omega. I'm pretty sure about the names, I'm not home right now and can't check my bookshelves to be sure. The newest Mercy Thompson book is good I tried to savor it and read it over a few days. No luck with that every time I put it down my hands itched and I couldn't put it out of my mind.

It bothered me to set that one down lol. I would be driving home from class wanting to read. I read it in like 3 days
Ill have to try and read that series. Shes a good writer and sucks you in fairly easily.
