Resident Evil: Return to Desperation

Carter

The police station was definatly deserted. That's weird considering there's usually a few people on duty. He looked at his watch, backup should have been here already.

He climbed the stairs, reaching the roof. He stepped outside to get a full view of the city. Not more than two block from the station he saw the backup, torn limb from limb and littering the streets. It was clear his current position wasn't safe. He went back inside the station, grabbed some equipment, and headed toward the exit.

OOC: I guess I'm following Doffy now...
Doffy, how'd you get from the sportig oods store to the gunshop?

IC:
I moved quietly, seeing him creep through the front toward the door leading into the back. I scanned the room, unsure of whether or not to make myself known just yet. The body behind the counter looked as though it'd been a meal for more than a few of the things wandering around outside.
I raised my shotgun as I eased toward the back, stopping when the man i followed announced "I'm human!"
A brief conversation followed, in which they spoke words that I could hardly hear, then gunshot were fired elsewhere, the sounds echoing back to us.I wait, listening for more, when they don't come, I shrugged them off. Now and again, you'd hear them, people who were moving from place to place, some making thei rlast stand and others hoping to find a safer place. It wasn't a good idea to stay in one place here. They'd gather outside once they discovered your prescence, drawing more of thier kind until the numbers were impossible to overcome.
I heard the light tapping on the concrete outside and quickly ducked behind the counter, hoping the demonic hound wouldn't catch sight or scent of me. WHen i peered out again, it was gone, but the door to the back was opening. Two men entered the room, readying their weapons and heading toward the door.
"I wouldn't do that," I said, speaking low but sure they could hear me.

Ian

Ian and Jason were approaching the exit , when Ian heard another voice in the room. "I wouldn't do that " , was quietly spoken. Ian figured that it must be another human, but he raises his shotgun up to his shoulder. In a loud voice, he calls out. "Who is it? Where are you ?"

Unfortunately, his voice carried too much and they all heard the click clack of razor sharp claws on pavement, coming towards the gunshop. At the doorway , appeared four wild dogs. They had fiendishly glowing red eyes, and looked ragged. They must have tasted the sweet flesh of men before, because they came right at the men with little hesitation. Ian turned quickly and discharged his shotgun at the nearest enemy. It catches one of the dogs full in the face, it slows momentarily , shrugs off the damage and comes forward again.

Ray

As the dogs charged, I gave up my hiding place, deciding to join the fight, mostly because to do otherwise would ensure my death. one on four would be a lot worse odds than three on four. I raised my own shotgun, firing into the second approaching dog and catching it in the stomach. With a yelp, it toppled over, then lay still for a moment. I pumped the weapon again, watching as the last of the animals turned and leaped for the counter top before me. i let it land, then fired again, blowing it off the counter and onto the tiled floor below. By then, the first I'd shot was to its feet again.
"Quick," I yelled, "Let's get i the back. They'll be easier target if we can fire at them through the doorway. They'll have no mobility when they must be in front of us."
I hurried over to the two men, pumping the shotgun again and preparing to fire. I waited for their responses.

Ian saw the stranger come out from behind the counter and open fire. He also unloaded another shot at the one he hit before and it stunned it again, but it was up fast. The stranger yells for them all to go into the back and shoot through the doorway. Ian agrees that this is a good idea , and after firing one more shot makes a run into the back room. He stands a little back of the doorway to give the other men cover to get into the room.

Jason looses off a blast of hot lead at one of the dogs, and makes it through the doorway. Ian has reloaded his shotgun and sends out a spray of buckshot into the room that stops the advance of the dogs for a minute. Ian yells "Come on now. I have you covered, come into the back room. " He can hear Jason quickly reloading too, in anticipation of the fight that they still have left..

Carter

He walked out of the exit and heard the door slam behind him. What he found in the alley behind the police station was shocking. At least a dozen or so bodies littered the alley, he didn't know how many because they were in pieces.

"What the fuck....shit the program. Just like I thought."

Carter followed the alley to the parking lot, expecting to see it empty, hoping that most of the police officers got away but it was full. "Maybe they got away on foot." Carter jimmed one of the cars and hotwired it. The radio lay silent, another bad sign.

He began driving down the street looking for survivors. Just then he heard a gunshot coming from one of the stores to his right. Carter grabbed his shotgun and exited the car, slinking on the side of the building.

Ray

Given the chance by the buckshot round the man had fired, I charged the door, grabbing the knob of the door, then remembering that the two men had locked it again.
"Shit!" I spat, turning and readying my own shotgun to fire. I stepped forward next to the man, firing a round at one of the dogs that had been hit twice lready, then firing a round in its direction. It yelps, then hit the grounds and lay still.
"The door's locked!" I shouted. "Who has the keys?"

Ian

Ian can't seem to find the keys, he drops his shotgun in his haste to find them. There, they were in his front pocket. He gets the correct key lined up and unlocks the door. As he starts to push it in, one of the dogs avoids the hail of bullets and jumps onto his back. His momentum carries him into the room, landing on his stomach. The dog is biting onto his shoulder. Ian quickly rolls over and is able to dislodge the dog. He pulls the 9 mm from its ankle holster and fires four bullets rapidly into the head of the oncoming dog. Its skull shatters in a red flash of diseased flesh, and showers Ian with small bony shards. He gets up and rushes towards the door. He sees the other two men holding their own and is able to reach out and retrieve his shotgun. He yells to the two men to come into the storeroom. He fires a shotgun blast at another one of the dogs and this time it seems to do some damage. Two dogs are now down and two to go.......

The Weapons shop

Jason watched as the two men fought to get the door opened. "Just blast the damn thing!" He yelled as he slammed another clip into his rifle. Just then one of the dogs leaped through the air and landed on the back of the man working on opening the door. He briefly set the rifle on the counter and started to draw the 9mm for an up close and personal shot through the attacking dogs brain. Before he could get there the downed man rolled himself over, drew his own pistol and fired four shots into the dogs skull. The dog tumbles off. Jason slides the pistol back into his belt and scoops up the rifle and lets a three round burst into another one of the dogs as he backed into the room. He follows the man with the keys into the room, then, he turns and covers as the last of the three men retreats into the room. "Back wall!" Jason insists as the last man moves into the doorway. Once they're all in the room, Jason flips the rifle onto full auto and opens up on the remaining dogs, emptying the clip into the dogs and the other room. When the clip is empty, Jason slams the door, which would stall the dogs long enough for him to seek cover. He hears one of the dogs slam into the wooden door as he runs to the backwall and hunts cover, finding cover behind a desk. He drops the clip from the rifle and realizes he has no more clips loaded. While he had more ammo for the rifle, it was still in the boxes. He drew his pistol and set it on the floor as another dog pounded into the door. He quickly pulled out a box of ammo and began reloading the clip. The dogs bashed the door one more time. On the next hit, the door splintered and a dog growled as it leaped into the air. The clip only half loaded Jason was releived when the other two men bothed opened up with their weapons. He finished loading the clip, slammed it home, locked and loaded and was ready when the next dog came in.

Ian

When the door crashed inward, Ian was ready. He pumped a double barrel load of buckshot into the first dog through the door. Between his shots and the mystery stranger's, the dog crumpled to the floor in a hail of metallic death. The last remaining dog burst through the doorway and was heading straight for Jason. Ian sent a blast from his shotgun that took off the front legs of the dog. The dog bit the air in extreme agony, but dragged itself closer to Jason.

Carter realized the gunshots were coming from a different store front. He did hear a loud groan coming from the bakery next to him. He walked in to find a man missing his arm, slouched over the display case.

He cocked his shotgun and approached the man, whose back was to him. He grabbed the man's shoulder and turned his body to face him when he realized the man's face was gone, eaten off. The front door opened again, this time three undead fellows greeted him. "Oh shit."

Jason spun around and faced the door having reloaded the rifle. He saw an already wounded dog dragging itself, sliding it's body across the floor towards him. He aimed the rifle and fired one shot right between the devils dogs eyes. The dog twitched and died. As the second dog came through the door he let loose a burst of fire, putting five rounds into the dogs head and shoulders. One of the two men with a shotgun fired and put the dog down once and for all. The dog crumpled and fell right in the doorway. "Concentrate your fire, try to take them out right in the door!" Jason yelled. "Maybe we can slow them down even more by blocking the doorway with the bodies of these hell hounds!" Jason finished just as another dog jumped on top of the body of it's dead mate, the dog growled at them and then charged right for the man with the shotgun. All three opened up on the dog, two shotgun blasts and four rifle rounds in the chest put the dog down quick and easy, the dogs hind legs resting on the head of the first dogs head.

OOC: How many of these damn dogs are there??

Yon Culpepper

Yon made his way down the street till he came across a roughly made road block. " Damn " blurted Yon as he saw the dead bodies piled up around the barrier. The scene resembled a desperate last stand, the carnage surrounding the area told the story. As Yon looked around, he noticed movement south of the barrier. Yon approached slowly, calling out as he approached. "Hello over there" Yon called out, as he approached. The being turned around slowly and Yon stopped dead in his tracks. Yon slowly backed away, seeing now the mistake he had made, for he had now gotten the attention of a zombie. " Ahh shit " said Yon under a muffled voice. As he turned around to flea, we was greeted by three more zombies. Yon quickly scanned the area for an escape route, only to find more zombies appearing. It seemed that his actions has roused them up, and now they were hungry for some living flesh.
He quickly slung his ax over his back and pulled both 9 MM out. He looked for some way out, some escape route but all he saw was the zombies closing in around him. Then to the corner of his eye, Yon saw an emergency ladder to a building across from him. He baited the walking dead closer, then sprinted for the ladder, firing both pistols off as he ran. The once dead silence was filled with the noise of gun shots, as Yon made a desperate attempt to safety. Upon reaching the ladder Yon quickly scaled it, reaching the first level in safety. He turned back around to see the horde of zombies crowd around the ladder. Yon watched in amazement as the once empty street filled up with the undead. Then in a sign of mockery, Yon shook his hips, and grabbed his crotch. " Thankyou. . thankyou very much" yelled Yon, as he again began to scale the ladder to the roof.
Upon reaching the top of the roof Yon looked out to see how close or how far he was from the police station. North of his current position he could make out what he believed was the police station, he judged the distance to be about half a mile. Now how to get there was the question that stumped him, by the looks of his current situation, walking on foot was out of the question. He walked around a bit, sizing up the distance to the other buildings. After much debate, he decided to take the chance. With a sprint across the roof top Yon jumped, landing on the roof on the adjoining building. Looking from his current position he made another leap to a building east of him, this placed him past the road block, as well as the zombies. Yon carefully and slowly made his way down an emergency ladder, placing him in an ally. He slowly made his way down the ally, taking him west from the road block. As he came out the ally he again found a barrier before him. this time he would use caution. After waiting a few moments Yon made a dash for the barrier, after a short climb he was over the barrier and on the other side. He saw nothing but a few empty patrol cars, but up ahead he saw the back side of the police station. Without a second thought, Yon dashed for the station.

Ray

The dogs were tireless it seemed, one going down and another rushing in. The ones I'd seen outside were already dead, but more came. The gunshots we were firing were giving us away.
"We have to get out of here, find someplace to hide, before there're too many to kill..." I suggested, wondering if there was another way out, but worried that there wasn't.

DM

OOC: okay, sorry about this, but i'm back now! ready to DM.

IC:

Three mindless zombies walked the streets, and dumbly headed for the open door of the bakery. it was not open before. as they came to the doorway, they found lunch, and their soon to be brother, and some strange man. they lurched for him right away

Behind the man in the bakery, drool dripped from the celing, and slowly a crouched man like creature with no skin and a deforemed skull dropped silently to the floor. slowly crawling towards and man on all four legs, it's long tongue licked across it's lips in anticipation.

Ian

Ian listens to the wise word of the stranger and tries to think of a way to buy them some time. He remembers the grenades that he had placed in the vest pockets. He yells to Jason to cover the doorway. Ian pulls the pins on two of the grenades. 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 , he throws the grenades into the front room, directly inbetween some of the dogs. The grenades explode, blowing the remaining dogs to burning chunck of greenish flesh. It also caused the doorway to fall apart , creating a 6 foot high barrier from the street. "Hot Damn. " says Ian. "Now lets see if we can find a way out of here. While the other two men start looking, Ian unlockes the ammunition locker and refills the ammo he used. He also takes out a few boxes of the ammo that the other men used. Lastly, he grabs two more grenades for his pockets, and passes three each to the other men. He relocks the ammo locker to keep their supply safe from the depredations of any enemies.

Ian now watches the front room to make sure that no enemies enter the room , while the other men look for a way out. His shotgun is held at the ready.

"Oh shit" Carter found himself surrounded by four hungry undead beings. "Don't suppose we could settle this over one of those tasty looking scones?" He cocked his shotgun and aimed for the skinless fellow closest to him, blasting a shell into him and smiling as he flew backwards.

He cocked the gun again and aimed at one of the three's heads. He cocked it again but the inevitable happened, the gun jammed. "Shit." He threw it toward the two, hoping it would hit them backwards or something. He then reached on his belt and pulled out a pair of twin 9mms and began blasting away as he walked backwards towards the rear exit.

DM - forgot to say, yes. Zombies can die, depending on what game rules you use, i can't remember exactly, but as i recall, the zombies die when you do enough damage, but a nice strong headshot, (shotgun, magnum. power weapon) is a clean kill, but with something smaller takes more.
if you go back into a previous screen in the game they are there again, so i'd say they are gone for a good while, buut maybe revive if you go back to that area? this is only true for zombies though, take a little more for biggies. like that licker behind you PM LOL!

The two zombies were knocked off their feet, and fell to the ground. they were pummeled full of 9mm rounds. weakened, but not quite eztinguished, they lay there, very very slowly getting up. the third was knocked down, but not shot at. (you only blew away two of them) and followed the man out the door. the licker lifted it's body off the floor and climbed up the wall, heading for the door. it's vision was filled with red, only blood crazed madness drove it now.

**********

several zombies walk through the open doors to the police office, loitering around the lobby

Carter kept firing away until he made it into the back alley and slammed the door, quickly pushing a dumpster in front of the door. "Man they have progressed since I saw patient zero, have to alert the base about this." He ran down the alley, knowing the dumpster might not hold them for long.

The zombies had reached the door and were trying to push their way through it, but the licker dropped from the wall and slashed them all in half in it's fury. after that it shattered the top of the door, that was exposed, and crawled out. seeing the fleeting form of a shadow going around a corner. letting out a crazed howl it took off for him.

As he ran down the alley he heard the door bust open. "Fuck, figured it would at least last me enough time to get to the car." He grabbed a smoke grenade off of his belt and threw it toward the beast, hoping that would buy him some time.

He turned teh corner and ran into the car, slamming the door behind him. He rubbed the wires togethor to start the car but nothing was clicking. "Oh shit." He countinued to rub the wires hoping his undead fans wouldn't catch up with him until he could peel out of there.

the licker dove for the smoke grenade, slashing and ripping ar the air, in a crazed fassion. after a few minutes it ended up kicking the nade out of the way by accident, and a clear path to the car was shown. it crouched low, and started vaulting from foor to wall to wall towards the car....

OOC: QC, Could you put the name of your character in the header? I can never remember the character name. :) Thanks.

IC:

Jason covered the door as the stranger prepared to throw the grenades. He watched the man lob two grenades landing them right between two of the dogs. The dogs literally blew apart.

It also caused the doorway to fall apart , creating a 6 foot high barrier from the street. "Hot Damn. " says Ian. "Now lets see if we can find a way out of here."

Jason grabbed the rifle up and slung it over his shoulder. He took a quick glance around the room. He didn't see any obvious exits. No windows except for a very small one six feet up on the window. Jason lifts himself up to the window and sees wrought iron bars covering them. "No exit here. Bars on the window. With the arsenal they had stored, I can't say I blame them." He lowered himself and looked around. The other man was moving around also looking for an exit. "This guy was storing weapons. Big ones! He had to have been a survivalist. The un-dead troop must have caught him at home or something. He could have stood them off for days, maybe weeks with the arsenal in here. He had to have an escape route... somewhere!" Jason looks around again. As he was looking around Ian comes over and hands him three grenades. "Thanks. These could prove useful. If all fails, we can use them to blow ourselves an exit!"

"Shit!!!!Shit!!!" The beast lurched toward the car. Carter clenched his teeth and closed his eyes, waiting to hear the sound of smashing glass. He reached to his passenger seat and grabbed another smoke grenade.

DM

instead of smashed glass, the licker landed on the rook with a heavy thump. four dents drove into the roof of the car and a horrible screaching noise came through as it scratched it's nails along the metal. the blood from the creature dripping down the windows.

slowly the head bent over the windshield, looking the man i the eyes. the lickers tongue flicked out and shattered a hole in the thin glass that seperated them.
