Resident Evil: Return to Desperation

"FUCK" He knew his next move was going to be risky but he had to try it. Carter pulled his 9mm out. He shoved the smoke grenade through the hole and into the beasts mouth, watching as the smoke bellowed from him. While the creature choked on that he brought the 9mm up to the creatures mouth and fired until the gun clicked.

DM

the licker was about to bore it's tongue into the mans head when it's tongue suddenly felt itself curled around a granade. choking on the smoke it momentarily forgot about the man, trying to spit it out, it suddenly was riddeled with 9mm rounds. battering into it, the creature felt it's un-natural life extinguishin, the last of the rounds managed to hit the grenade, the licker didn't know which shattered, the bullet or the grenage, but shards of metal peppered it's brain. the licker swayed back and forth, and fell through the windshield onto the passengers seat, with its head on the man.

dead.

Yon Culpepper

As Yon ran down the street all that went throughout his mind was putting an end to this nightmare. As he cut through the parking lot he came upon the back door, to the station, it was locked and Yon beat on the door loudly. After a few moments Yon gave up his senseless attempt and began to look for another entrance. As he walked around the building he made his way to the front but quickly stopped when he saw a few zombies lingering about. Slowly he backed away until he was sure he was safe and sprinted back to the back door. Yon contemplated shooting the door open, but the thought of those zombies having a way in due to his actions deterred that thought.
Yon decided that he would try the other side of the building, maybe he could find another way in. As he made his way down the buildings other side, Yon came across a huge metal door. Yon looked the door over and noticed an electronic key pad. A slight grin crossed his face as he pulled out his Swiss Army knife, he quickly began removing screws from the control panel. Before long he had the panel open and was quickly trying to bypass the security code. Then to his relief, a digital beep went off and the huge garage door began to rise. As the light seeped into the once dark room, Yon was able to determine where we was, the police motor pool.
As he walked in Yon could seethe main office to the Motor pool, lights still on, but nobody seemed to be around. What threw him next was the fact the door to the office was locked, and it seemed an officer was inside asleep or dead. Yon banged on the glass but no response, he then grabbed his ax and busted the door in. The stench of death poured out of the small office, nearly flooring Yon. By the looks of the officer and the splattered blood against the wall, he had killed himself. Yon saw a hand written note, he grabbed it along with the officers security card. He thumb through his wallet but noticed nothing of importance. What he did see, brought a smile to his face. Laying against the far wall was an AR-15 assault riffle, Yon grabbed the riffle and gazed at it with teary eyes. Yon leaned back against the wall and sighed as he felt some stress fall off him. He next decided to read the note left behind by the officer. His look of peace turned to dread as he read the note. He quickly dropped the note and went over to the control panel. He bang flipping switches, and the motor garage began to light up. What Yon saw next was beyond his greatest fears.
Littered all over the floor were the covered bodies of slain officers and civilians. The motor pool had become a giant morgue. Yon quickly took the ammo in the office for the rifle and slung his pack over his shoulders. He moved slowly out of the office and made his way towards the rear entrance to the Officers locker room. Keeping his back to the wall he moved slowly, sweeping the riffle across the room, he hoped and prayed he could dodge this bullet.

Ian (just for you doffy lol)

Ian does not see any creatures approaching, with the barrier in the way , they are effectively sealed in. He asks the stranger to watch the exit for a minute so he could look for a way out.

Think dammit, think, where would you put an escape route. This man had been a survivalist, there was no way that he had not made a way out.

Ian sees a pile of boxes of to the left that attract his attention. He grabs the top box and moves it towards the center of the room. He grabs the next one and moves it to the same place. He uses his strength to push the last box out of the way.

Aha, just like I thought. An exit built into the floor, just like we used to make back in Dublin

Ian waves Jason over to get his attention. "Look, here is an exit built into the floor. Let me get this open. " Iam unbolts the slide bolts and grasps the iron ring on top of the door. There is a sound of tortured metal as the seldom used door opens . Ian looks down and sees a ladder going down. It is very dark down below, as dark as the heart of the men that caused this to happen. Ian asks Jason "Can you check to see if there are any flashlights or lanterns around here? I am sure he would have some around. "

Just then, a wafted breeze enters the room from the floor and Ian knows where this opening connects to, the sewers. He is not afraid of what would be in the sewers, big rats had nothing on zombie dogs as far as scaring him. He waits patiently for Jason to find some light with which to go below with.

Carter sighed, the beast was finally dead. He examined it for a second, scraping bits of the skin into a small ziplock bag. He put the bag back into his pocket and produced another bag as well as a wrench and a pair of surgical gloves. He put the gloves on and proceeded to open the creature's mouth, pull out a few of the teeth and putting them into a seperate bag. "This is amazing, they've evolved."

Carter opened the passenger door and kicked the carcass onto the street. He brushed the broken glass off of the dashboard and resumed rubbing the wires again. The car started up on the first try. "Figures."

He sped down the street, anxious to get away from the bakery before the two zombies saw him.

Ian

As Ian waits for Jason to find some sources of light for the journey into the sewers, Ian notices something wrapped in plastic stapled to the bottom of the trapdoor. He pulls this off and unveils his finding. It is a map of the sewers with a few spots marked off . Ian is able to make out a few places so marked and is not suprised at what they are. They are the power plant, the Police Station, and the Armory located on the upskirts of town.

This David must have been a dangerous man, all this arsenal and a map to boot. He must have been planning to cause some serious havoc with all this stuff.

Jason has come back with three Lanterns that are full of oil, and two flashlights.

The owner had been prepared for everything it looks like. All he needed was a nuclear weapon, maybe its on its way in the mail.

Ian shows Jason the map, noting the police station marked on the map. He gets the strangers attention. "What should we do? This map can lead us right to the police station through the sewers. I think this is our best bet. What do you two want to do?"

After Ian had found the trap door, Jason went on a hunt for some light sources. It took a few minutes but Jason finally found three lanterns inside a cabinet near where the door used to be. He got them lit and handed one to each of the men in the group, keeping one for himself. He returned to the trap door and Ian showed him the map that had been stapled to the bottom of the trapdoor. Jason can already hear the devil dogs scratching at the debris, desperate to get through it and have a Jason snack.

"What should we do? This map can lead us right to the police station through the sewers. I think this is our best bet. What do you two want to do?" Ian asks.

"Police station. I met a cop from a nearby town, when we split up he said he was heading to the police station. Maybe we can meet up with him, the more the merrier right?" Jason said and helped Ian onto the iron ladder. Jason followed right behind him.

DM

not much for me here, lol but lets say

rabit rats in the sewers.

sometime soon ravens fly through the window of the car

sorry bout the not so discriptiveness, but i thought i'd give your chars a rest. so you're pretty much going to them this time

Carter

"Can't go back to the police station, have to find a place I can analyze this stuff and contact the base."

Ian

Ian waits for the stranger to make his decision. He can hear the scratching outside too. Jason has made his decision. Ian implores the stranger to make a decision with his eyes, and grabs the top rung of the ladder. He starts to make his descent.

Carter

After driving for awhile I had found a pharmacy a few blocks away from the bakery. I could analyze the specimens I procured in their and maybe find a phone to contact the base. I parked in front of the building and ran inside.

A few of the aisles were knocked over, littering the floor with advil, vitamins, magazines, and condoms (ooc: sounds like a party!!) I lept over the counter and searched for the chemicals I would need for my research.

I grabbed a speciman container and scratched a piece of the tooth off into it. In a seperate container, he placed the skin scrapings. He added iodine to the containers, waiting for it to soak through so he could look at them better under the microscope.

Suddenly he heard something tumble over and break. He clenched one of his 9mm, was he alone?

Ian

Ian reaches the bottom of the ladder and Jason passes him down a lantern. The light shines brightly, pushing away the impending gloom. Ian can not see very far in front of himself, but takes a quick look around while Jason comes down the ladder.

Nothing here to bother us near this ladder. I wonder what is in store for us further in the tunnels.

Jason reaches the floor and Ian sees that the stranger has passed down the other two lanterns to Jason. The stranger used a piece of a crate to keep the trapdoor open, so they can go back if they need too.

Good idea , I should have thought of that. This is really creeping me out and I am losing my touch.

When the stranger reaches the floor, he takes a lantern from Jason. "My name is Ray , under the circumstances, nice to meet you two." Jason and Ian gave their names and then Ian, consulting the map, started them off towards the Police station.

DM

-not sure if you want that as an NPC PM, so well just do this. -

a zombie in a white bloodstained pharmacists coat ambles around the corner of an aisle. and heads for lunch at the counter

Ray

After the introduction are past us, we start toward the Police Station, following the map ian found. Ian is in the lead, and I debate warning them, given that both seem to be confused about what's going on...Now isn't the time though.
As we move, I hear the steady tick-tick-tcik of sharp claws on the concrete behind me, distant but getting closer.
"uh...guys, we need to speed this up, you hear that?"

Ian

Ian also hears the clicking on the concrete. The noise is echoing through the small sewer tunnel that they are in.

I wonder what it is that is behind us, is it more dogs. Iwonder what made them go crazy like they did upstairs. And what was up with those guys in the street.

Ian has to slow for a minute to study the map at an intersection. Jason urges them to hurry up, but it is hard to see by lantern light. Finally, Ian tells them they need to go down the left tunnel. The start to turn down that tunnel.........

They turn down the new tunnel. Jason can still here the click-click-click of dog nails on the wet cement. They have to slow them down. "At this pace, they'll catch us before we get to the police station. Either of you have a piece of string on you?" Neither man replies. Jason takes this as a no. "Go on. I'll catch up." Jason says and stops. he bends down and starts untying his shoes. He pulls the shoestrings out of the eyeholes and ties them together. He pulls out one of the grenades Ian had given him and wedges the grenade into a crack in the cement. He ties the string to the grenades pin. there isn't enough string to reach the other side. Nothing else to tie it to. "Damn!" Jason says. He looks around, he can hear the monsters getting closer. "No time, no time." Jason grabs a rock from the side of the sewer and ties the string around it. He turns to grenade to the right angle and then lays the rock in the water. Either the water pushing over the rock will pull the pin or one of the monster dogs will kick the rock and pull the pin themselves. His shoes now filling with water, he stands up and runs to catch up with the others.

DM

50 or so years of rotting fecies fill the sewer goers noses. damn thats rank. and it has lots and lots of methane if you catch my drift.

Yon Culpepper

He slowly made his way to the locker room, rifle raised and moving against the wall. As he scanned the room he saw one of the covered bodies move. " Shit " blurted Yon as he now quickly dashed for the door. As he reached the door, Yon noticed that a few other bodies began to move, he now was in total fear mode. He quickly pulled out the ID card and ran it through the scanner. The card did not read, and the door remained locked. Yon again tried the card but it would still not read. Yon turned around to see the once dead cops begin to rise up and move towards him. He quickly raised his rifle and fired a burst of. The rifle echoed in the garage, the sound now causing more of the bodies to rise. Again he tried the card but still it would not give him access. Yon began to panic and dropped the card, he quickly picked up the card and tried it again out of desperation. This time he was meet with a beep as the card was excepted, he looked down to see that he had swiped the card the other direction.
Quickly he pushed the door open and slammed it behind him, within moments he heard the banging of the zombies against the door, their moans for flesh sent a shiver down his spine. As he walked through the locker room, Yon noticed that the emergency lights were on, not to mention total disarray of the place, it seemed as if a fight had broken out here. He quickly made his way through the room, opening the door into a room full of desks and offices. " This must be one to operation rooms" Yon thought to himself. Yon began walking around, trying to open the doors, but many were locked and his card would not give him access. " I need to change the security level of this card" he thought to himself. Yon looked about for a computer, but many were destroyed, again the scene in the room resembled a war zone. In a short time Yon found a computer that was working and he sat down and began searching its data base.
After about twenty Minutes of pecking away at files, he found the one he was looking for. As he clicked open the security file, he was greeted by a request for clearance. Yon smiled to himself as he fumbled through his pack and pulled out a small device, then he quickly attached the device to the back of the computer. He then clicked a switch on and the device came alive. In ten seconds the device had cracked to clearance code and allowed Yon full access. "Nothing is impossible, when you have toys like these" Yon said to himself, as he now began to access the file. He then again reached into his pack and pulled out another device and laid it on the desk, then he opened it up and placed the security card inside. He began to change the clearance codes to all the doors in the station, he would now have full access with his card. He then pulled the card out of the device and walked over to one of the doors, he scanned the card but was still not allowed access. After several more attempts Yon stomped over to the computer to find out what the problem was, he soon found out.
The system was offline, due to the fact that the main power was off and the emergency power was online. Yon cursed to himself, knowing that he would have to get it back online and in the back of his mind he was afraid of what he might find. He quickly pulled up a map of police station on the computer, and found the power boxes two levels below him, the elevator was but only a few yards from him, but due to the main power being off he would have to use the stairs. Yon pulled out the flashlight from his pack and grabbed his rifle as he made his way to the stairway leading to the basement.

Ian

Ian was no inclined to leave Jason behind, but he could see that Jason has a specific idea in mind to slow down the dogs. "Fine, me and Ray will continue on so we can scout ahead. Catch up fast, but we wont leave you behind. "

As Ian runs down the tunnel, the ground has become more solid. He looks down and sees that they are walking through years of accumulated human waste. A familiar smell resonates through Ians mind.

What is that smell? It makes me think of some of the simpler bomb that I made when I was working with Paddy O'Rourke.

Then it comes to him in a gestalt flash of insight. He recognizes the smell of heavy methane gas. He turns to Jason. "He very careful of creating sparks, we can not use our guns in here till we get away from all this methane. I will go back and tell Jason, stay here."

Ian stretches his long legs and sprints back to where he sees Jason getting up from kneeling down. "Jason, what are you setting up ?" His question is answered when he sees the rigged grenade. Ian gets ready to kneel down and dismantle the trap when he sees the Dogs round a bend in the tunnel. "Shit Jason, we have to go fast, faster than you ever ran before. "

Ian pushes Jason in the right direction and starts to run with him. Behind him, he can hear the demonic hissing and barks of the pursuing hellhounds. The two men round another corner in the tunnel when they hear a large explosion. Pieces of dog come flying down the tunnel towards them. The hot rush of flesh and heat pummels them with its intensity. The two men are knocked off of their feet.

"Fuck, that sucked." Ian says to Jason. "Are you ok?"
Jason nods his head yes, as he picks himself up off the floor of the tunnel. "Lets go catch up to Ray." The two men brush themselves off as best as they can and continue up the tunnel to meet up with Ray.

Carter

Carter held the 9mm in his hand, listening as he realized he definatly wasn't alone. He saw the zombie in the pharmacy coat coming toward him. He fired four shots into the creatures chest before the gun clicked. He was out of ammo, and the other clips were in the car!

He ran over to the emergency station and broke the glass, hoping to find an axe but instead only finding a water hose. He turned the hose on, shooting the creature across the room. That didn't stop it from getting up though.

Carter dropped the hose and darted down an aisle, grabbing as much antaicds as he could. "This is fucking nuts." He unwrapped a lage number of the antacids as the creature was making his way over to him. Carter took the antacids and shoved them into the zombie's mouth before pushing him down and running back to the hose.

Once again he sprayed the creature down, activating the antacids. (OOC: Tee hee Khadagar you want to handle the explosion of zomibe guts?)

Ray

The explosion echoes down the corridor as I wait for the two to return. It isn't looking good. Then it gets worse, as the sounds of the ticking nails come from ahead as well, but different this time...slower, less coordinated than the dogs were.
I looked back, hearing the men's voices echo toward me, someting about something sucking...like everything that happened in Desperation didn't suck...

Ian

Ian and Jason round another bend in the tunnels and almost run right into Ray. Ian was relieved to see that Ray was still ok, they would need all the help they could get to get out of this godforsaken hell hole of a town. Ray did not seem to be suprised with all the weird things that were going on.

What does he know that we don't? Why wont he tell us ?

Ian turns to Ray, "Ok , what in the name of St. Patrick is going on here? This is seriously fucked up and I am not amused whatsoever." Ray looks at Ian "We have no time for this talk , there are creatures coming this way from in front of us , and I dont think they are more dogs. Ready yourselves."

Ian wipes the blood from a long cut on the side of his face that a flying dog claw had inflicted. "Ok, you are right, we dont have time. But when we do........" Ian checks his shotgun, making sure it is fully loaded. He pulls out his 9 mm and makes sure that gun is loaded too. He signals that he is ready to go on. The team of three start down the tunnel, getting ever closer to the police station and the promise of salvation.

DM

NOTE: sewer-goers, methane isn't only in one part the sewer. *laughs* you guys beter think of something in the next. oh 4 or 5 seconds, and then stuart pumpin those legs. because i smell barbecue.

what started as a speck in their vision turned into worry as a tunnel of flame swept towards them. if they were still not sure what it was, the tunnel perpendicular to them suddely surged forth in flame like a dam releasing it's waters.

PM - you're crazy!! but that was pretty interesting, so i'll give you ingenuity points on it. i still don't see how antacids will do that. but hey, good laughs make a sucess in my book

The Zombit rounded the aisle corner. the soaked jacket sticking to it's body, the bulletholes matched up with the jacket holes. as he came closer the mans arm flew up and peppered the zombie with pills. thenran up and crammed them down it's throat.
the second before the teeth chomped down on the mans hand, he balled his hand and shoved, the zombie fell to the ground and the mans hand slipped out. grabbing the hose, and spaking the zombie, it felt something strange in the wounds. and then in what was left of it's stomache.

The chest and abdomen started seeping a white and black ooze, the flow got stronger and stronger, until the zombie straightered out as it's weakened ribcage shattered into pieces, flying into the air, the rest of it's abdomen exploding in a shaower of white liquid and guts.

Needess to say, the man would need a long long shower.

Yon Culpepper

Yon made his way down the dark stair way, the only light showing was that of the emergency lights. As he reached the third level, Yon slowly pushed the door open, sticking his riffle out slowly. After a few moments he slowly steps out the door and looks down the dimly lit hallway. " Damn, this is Hollywood spooky " Yon mumbles to himself. He slowly walks down the hallway, shinning his flash light on each door till he comes to the one marked "Power Room."

Yon takes a deep breath, then flings open the door, rifle cocked and raised, seeing no trouble, he lets out a sigh of relief. Yon makes his way over to the main power box and begins to flip the switches, but nothing happens. After close examination Yon sees why, the fuses are missing. " God Damn, this place" Yon yells, his frustration building. " What the hell is going on around here, no police, no power, now no fuses, what a fucking joke" says Yon. After a few moments of cursing and thinking, an Idea comes to Yon's mind, maybe he could switch the fuses from the emergency box to the main box. A slight smile forms on his lips as he thinks this idea out, but it soon turns to a frown. For if he shuts down the emergency power, he would have to reboot all the security systems, and until he did that, anyone or thing could have complete access to the station.

Another problem would also occur, if the main power went off line again, there would be no backup. After weighing the options, Yon decides to take the risk. He begins to shut the power off to the emergency power box, and in turn takes the fuses and puts them in the main box. After ten minuets of fumbling around with the fuses, Yon turns on the main power, a loud hum kicks in as power is restored. He begins to flip all the main power switches on, and in a matter of seconds the room lights up. Yon lets out another sigh, knowing that the task is done. He quickly steps back out the door and looks down the brightly lit hallway. " What an improvement" says Yon as he makes his way to the elevator. As he nears the elevator, a weird sense comes over him, a sense of dread. Something felt wrong, felt as if someone, or something was watching him. Yon decides against the use of the elevator and hurries back up the steps.

*the Debut of Mr.X*

according to the game, RES 2 MR. X is some kind of giant. he's probably close to eight feet tall, HUGE chest and shoulder span, lets put it this way. make a man out of a tank. bingo.

Mr. X walked down the hallway, one hand deep in his pocket. he smiled. everything was going accordingly to plan. he made a corner and say one of the station maps. ripping it off the wall and stuffing it in his pocket he resumed walking. fingering the fuses from the power room. suddenly, the whole area lit up. Mr X's hand began to bleed a little as his hand crushed and broke the fuses. he listened and heard faint running. turning his huge frame he ran off towards the footsteps. he made it to the elevator room just as the doorway to the stairs closed.

bringing out a dagger, which would probably have been a sword to anyone else, he slashed at the elevator cables with all his might. the elevator plunged down several meters before the safteys stopped it. but it was now wedged in the concrete section between the next two floors. no one would be able to use it. turning to the stairway, he ran his blade along the celing. splicing power cables, and sending to stairway into darkness.

OOC: don;t worry yon, he's not going to power down EVERYTHING, i assume you need power for something important, so he'll be selective. who needs a lit stairway anyway? happy a happy trip, and try not to fall HAHAHAHAHA! (evil DM laugh)
