I want to improve my poetry. Go ahead, hit me with your best shot. I can take it. But be forewarned, I have CIA training in tracking and assasination.

*What do you hope to contribute to the poetry community at literotica?
What role do you see yourself playing here?
I did some Sunday new poem reviews for a while, and although I enjoyed the reading, and learned much, I didn't have the stamina or stick-to-it-tiveness eve, liar and neo do. I appreciate and admire their hard work, dedication and insightfulness, as well as the courage of all who spend the time to take on that chore.
I enjoy the feeling of comradierie I've found here. I haven't been posting or writing much lately. I've been a bad boy and been made to stand in the corner. But when I get out, I'm always open to questions and fun, even if it's naughty (or should I say especially ;) )

*How would you describe your writing?
Improving and exploratory. Usually I write from an emotional urge,
sort of hurl it out there. But I've been trying to become more disciplined, without losing the visceral punch.

Seymour: an Introduction.... well actually it has little to do with Seymour.

*What you hope to get out of your time at lit? (please include level of critique you are looking for.)

There are two main areas where I hope to gain something from Lit, both of them rather selfish.
Firstly, through poetry I touch on things about myself that I would usually deny quite rigidly. And spending time thinking about these aspects, even at obscure angles, is better than not seeing them altogether. When I was younger I was a passionate short story writer, but after (kindof) growing up and facing responsibility (usually with my tongue out) and finding other passions I have found that my creative writing has slowed to a practical minimum. I still write religiously, but in a scientific/academic capacity. I plan to have time on my hands for a while and so also plan to reignite my writing. Poetry was something I have always had a passion for (I used to be a kind of beat poet when in University) and now I have some time I hope to apply myself to it more (I daren't go near the short story form again.... they eat up little undetached writers like myself). I really just want to put my poems within a public arena, and to receive feedback and critique in order to better myself.
Secondly, I thoroughly enjoy reading and commenting on poetry... and so, well, I'm here.

*What do you hope to contribute to the poetry community at literotica? What role do you see yourself playing here?

Contributions:
1.) I know how to open a bottle of beer with just a cigarette lighter.
2.) I'm willing to share my recipe for the best Butternut squash soup possibly ever put together.
3.) I can discuss Computational theories of Human intelligence endlessly.
Feel free to PM me for any of the above.

What role do I see myself playing? A few years ago I would probably have answered 'Devils Advocate' and then proceeded to enthral/annoy you all with my ascerbic wit. Nowadays however I have mellowed (I'm kinda like the descriptions of all those coffees people buy: Rounded, easy going and balanced....). I hope that I can give objective feedback and critique to help others embrace an art form I find fascinating.

*How would you describe your writing?

I don't. I leave that up to everyone else. I will tell you the one thing I have realised about my poetry. It's not about truth. Poetry about truth has more questions than what I write.

I really like
Morning . Knowing what its all about, I feel I was at my most articulate in this poem. Apart from that its not what I think that really matters, although my 'next' poem will be my best (I keep telling myself).

I don't really know. Sex? I do not require criticism thanks :D

Wel, whatever I can, but time doesn't allow me to commit to anything specific.

Good to fabulous. It depends. My poetry stays in a range all it's own - indescript. lol

Actually, Raison d'etre is pretty good to, if you don't like sex. :) Please note my new audio poem :D Not only can you see me, but now you can hear me too!! I have some poems and a few I am proud of. Encouragement, inspiration, and constructive (not destructive) criticism. I have learned so much from the many talented poets here who willingly share their time that I feel blessed just to hang around.

*What do you hope to contribute to the poetry community at literotica? What role do you see yourself playing here?

Sex Goddess. Same role I play everywhere. ;)

I enjoy reading and commenting on others' poetry and hope I can be helpful to new poets, because I don't feel qualified to help the established poets.

*How would you describe your writing?

I incorporate the full spectrum between explicitly hardcore and serenely spiritual. My writing is vivid and in the moment. I want people to experience first hand what I write, whether it is a plea to stop pollution, or an E ticket ride on the Syndra coaster. :D

Kindred Strangers is a collaborative poem that I wrote with Kundalinguini. We posted it in a thread, and it did not get much response. I am very proud of that piece of work. It still makes me wet every time I read it. :p

Orange Glow was nominated for a Lit award in erotic poetry last year.

I love being a part of Lit, though I tend to spend more time surfing poetry and stories sometimes than I do writing!

My name is Syndra. I'm a Literotica addict.

Glad to be a part of this community!

*What you hope to get out of your time at lit

In 2 months will be my 5yr anniversary here at Lit. I originally came to get my stories submitted and found my way to the Bulletin Boards. I was hooked, to say the least. In the years, the people have changed, the tone has changed, the style of writing has changed, but most of all, I have changed. But through it all, I continue to come back to Lit for the same reasons; inspiration and praise.

Some of my most favorites are poems I wrote for contests and challenges. To read them, you most likely wouldn't get the true story. But, for me, they bring back a time of fun, laughter, and friendship.

Heavy? Go On A Diet!
Pink Seduction

This is the story I first came to submit. Submit I did, in the rawest form possible! The email I got back made me feel like a chatised child, at first. But then, the volunteer editor helped me see my mistakes (and there were many of them!), and fix them, so I could rewrite my story. Even in doing so, it took a long while before I brought myself to submit it to Lit.

Hmmm...well literotica is the perfect home for me because no matter what my stories start out being about, they always end up with lots of kinky sex. :catroar:

As for critique, I don't mind criticism but I don't really pay attention to it.
That might sound odd but I shall bore you with the short version of how I got my first poem published: I submitted dozens of poems, all rejected. I read the latest copy of the literary magazine. I wrote a poem geared towards what HAD been accepted. Whamo! Instant acceptance.
To me that isn't my poetry...that is the audiences or the editors.

Passive Tension For some reason this one has received no comments and very few votes. It is the one I feel is my best, so I am a bit confused?????

Some of my favorite poets are: Jim Dodge, Bill Knot, Ken Fifer, Robert Hayden, Lyn Lifshin, Ishmael Reed, Anne Waldman, Russell Edson, Tom Clark, Lorca, William Carlos Williams to name a few. I think Tom Robbins, Ishmael Reed and Jim Dodge's prose often reads like poetry.

I love the sense of community and truly enjoy being a part of that community.

The most important thing I am looking for is a support system- people who understand what it means to be a writer. But I would also like to find out ways to improve my style. I am open to all forms of critique. Just be honest and up front with me.

*What you hope to get out of your time at lit (please include level of critique you are looking for)

I just like to write and Lit gives me an actual audience so my friends don't have to suffer through my ramblings. I welcome all feedback, but I'm especially grateful when something I've written strikes a chord within someone else.

*What do you hope to contribute to the poetry community at literotica? What role do you see yourself playing here?

I don't really think of myself as a poet. I like words and playing words, so it's fun to be creative and to try to say something in a different way. I lurk on this board, mostly, but you can always find me in the AH.

I really enjoy reading poetry, however, and I've found some amazing writers here. I think I get more out of this place by reading others' poems than I do by contributing anything in particular.

*How would you describe your writing?

My writing tends to be descriptive; I try to be expressive with feel and mood. I think my aim is to give the reader the impression that they are there, or allow them to see, feel, hear, taste even if they're not there.

Better late then never?

I'm not very active on the boards but I do sometimes read them. The reviews often lead me to people that I end up bookmarking. Ya'lls comments on my own work encourages me and give me the strength to post more stuff. Sometimes what resonates for people really surprises me.

What do I hope to get out of my time here?

Well, I started posting as a way to privately talk to someone who I have a very strong love/hate draw toward. It may be why some of what ends up here seems so tortured. I'm a happy person with a good life, I promise, I'm just a touch emotional. Getting to read other poets, hearing from other people, writing to other people has been an unexpected perk.

*What do you hope to contribute to the poetry community at literotica? What role do you see yourself playing here?

I really don't know. At best I hope I touch people. I hope my words of encuragement to others lift their hearts. Writing can at times feel very isolating and lonely.

*How would you describe your writing?

Self obsessed masterbatory journaling. When I feel too much, or can't talk about it because of the intensity of my emotions, I write. It is part of the way I process experiance. Sometimes it is sloppy, sometimes it is tight. My words can come out like a thin thread pulled from my lips, or they can pour like piss from my bowels, I never really know when I start. Ya'll get to read my stuff in a very raw state. I rewrite very little. My goal isn't perfect prose, I am trying to pin down the experiance of my life in a way that makes it easier for me to tolerate.

*What you hope to get out of your time at lit (please include level of critique you are looking for)

I want to learn. I love the friendly, helpful atmosphere and people on Lit. I have learned so much already, but I know I have a long way to go. I don't mind critique in the least, it's the only way to learn. I don't want "fluff", if it's bad, say so and tell me why. If it's good, the same thing applies.

*What do you hope to contribute to the poetry community at literotica? What role do you see yourself playing here?

I have no idea. I don't write much poetry, I don't really know how. I just write what comes to mind at the moment my fingers strike the keys. It comes from the heart and the height of my emotions at that time. I am working on a tricky illustrated poem about my daughter right now though. I hope it turns out as planned and isn't just lame drivel.

Well, I've technically been around for quite a while, but rarely pop over to the forums. I think I'm changing that though... wouldn't mind getting to know a few people around here. I lurk, but who knows, it might be fun to step out of the shadows.

As far as critique, I welcome it (on any level).

*What do you hope to contribute to the poetry community at literotica? What role do you see yourself playing here?

Who knows? I'm the poetry moderator at a rather large but very different sort of forum. I do know that I would like to get to know some people better here though. I suppose that would be my main purpose.

*How would you describe your writing?

What you hope to get out of your time at lit
I am a regular writer of doggerel, as a quick peek at my only published poem here: Shopper's Orgy, or, The Saturnalia Before Christmas will attest.

I have become too busy for works of any length. So, I thought I might put many small pieces of time to good use trying to cobble my doggerel up from badder to verse.

What do you hope to contribute to the poetry community at Literotica? What role do you see yourself playing here?
That rather depends upon what role the poetry community requires that I am capable of filling. Without knowing that, I suggest that I will probably live up to my name, I usually do.

Please include level of critique you are looking for
I guess that I expect the kind of critiques my works deserve, up to and including the warm fuzzy welcome I just observed being accorded Elizafairy’s Fairyland.

How would you describe your writing?
Mostly doggerel, sometimes rather currish and covered in fleas.

Answering your questions:

Looking for deep feedback on random submissions.

My contributions are just a sharing of those things that flow from when I "stick a pen in my heart" [apologies to the Rolling Stones] and pour onto the page those things that stir me.

Description of my writing: ecclectic. Most postings will be and are non-erotic. The erotic ones are more symbolic as opposed to descriptive. Free verse and sonnets are favorite forms for me. I do a LOT of Haiku but they're just too short and too many to post here routinely. If I get a really good one -- I'll send it up.

I guess anything I have up here is my "favorite" here on the lit. There's not much but you can find them and see for yourself.

Brief enough?

I'm here because I like to write dirty stories and I enjoy the banter and repartee with other writers. I would like honest opinions of my stories, considering they are just intended to help people wank or frig. I like to know if I am succeeding at that. I do not expect to get a nomination for a Nobel Prize or anything else of the kind.

What do you hope to contribute to the poetry community at literotica? What role do you see yourself playing here?

Not very much. I am not what I think of as a serious poet. Most of what I write is doggerel or jokes told in rhyme. There are a few exceptions, though.

How would you describe your writing?

Smutty. Most of my stories, including all of them in first person, are just stroke with no real plot or character development or other things that a professor of literature would look for. However, I have written a few stories that I believe go beyond that. As to my poetry, although they are not serious works, I do try to write in perfect meter.

I enjoy the poems, and look foward to any advice and pointers. I'm looking forward to meeting some nice people too.I just began to write again for the first time in 21 years. I think most of the poems I write don't make much sense to anyone but me,or if they do it is only half the story. Every now and then I have a semi normal inspiration. They can be odd to, I just write to get it out of my head really.
I'd be open to any level of constructive critique,my skin is not thin.

On a good day the poetry corner of Lit. is like a comfortable oasis in a bad part of town. You go to meet old friends, share gossip and read a bit of poetry. Every now and then someone staggers in from another forum and throws up on your table but it only adds to the "charm".

On some days this forum is a bit like the stuff growing on the leftovers in my fridge. You watch with fascination in the hope that before everything goes brown and mushy, there might erupt a flash of blue or red mould.

I used to do reviews on Mondays. It was hard work. (Hats off to the present crop of reviewers.) I had a pair of assistants but Viola died over the winter and Violetta only did it because she knew it annoyed Viola so ... I guess I'll settle for contributing the odd bit of conversation (prurient or otherwise).

Hello Anna

Nice to see you back.!

And a fond hello to Darkmaas!

His Twelve Bar thread was the first to induce a contribution from me here on this Board, although, I enjoyed and had read and admired so much of the material and commentary as a lurker for quite some time. I agree with his analogy re: the "good neighborhood."
I like to joke around and comment on politics and history and music on the General Board, but find the tone and nastiness a bit much there. That said, I know there are some very nice and sincere and witty, funny people there. As for all the rest of the Boards at Lit, well, I dont know anything about them, cause I havent even opened them.

I started writing and absorbing poetry at a young age, probably around 13 or so. As a San Fransisco kid, I was accidently exposed to the Beat tradition because living there, I saw City Lights bookstore and wondered about it's history, and also was aware of the famous gig's of Lenny Bruce at the Purple Onion night club and Ginsberg's initial readings of "Howl," both of which fascinated me because of the legal entganglement's they created re: Obscenity and First Amendment challenges they precipitated. I dont know why this all fascinated me so much, it just did.

My style? Hell, I dont know. One of my lifelong dreams has been to publish fiction, and I am much more particular about those projects than I am about my poems.
I shoot from the hip, rarely, if ever, edit. I am very influenced by Eastern poetic traditions, studied and became inspired by Ancient and Medieval European sources such as Chaucer, Boethius, the Pearl Poet, Dante, Virgil, just to name a few. Skip ahead and you will find me tickled by the 20th century, post industrial figures such as Joyce, Bellow, Faulkner, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, Celine, Snyder,
Bukowski, Kerouac, and particularly, Gary Snyder, whose blending of east/west has always touched me deeply.

I consider it a stroke of luck and a priveledge to read and absorb much of the work found here on the Poetry Forum.

In this digital age, with all its speed and technology, I know of many who feel it is the fool's errand to write Poems. Malarky, they say.

Well, Im one fool who will happily disagree. I try to maintain a balance betwixt my writing endeavors and a busy life as a parent and workaday survivor. I value the whole of that spectrum, and, in the end, writing is FUN and dont cost me a dime yet enriches my life for sure.

What is a URL anyway? :) I guess Ange can fill me in on that Jazz.

As always, my best to all you kids out there.

A taste of Zanzibar

Some possible information to include:

*What you hope to get out of your time at lit (please include level of critique you are looking for)

Looking for poetry and stories to read that help inspire me, that make me smile, and whet my appetite to read and create stories and poems of my own. Friends to share the same with.
*What do you hope to contribute to the poetry community at literotica? What role do you see yourself playing here?
I offer constructive feedback from my perspective to other poets and writers, I offer some of my own creativity and style in works of my own. I've often times been able to help someone by providing insight into their work. My role? Just becoming a part of the family of creative writers. I've long had a way with words in music, and stories, and I want to expand that into poetry as well.
*How would you describe your writing?
Eclectic. I try and find rich imagery when I write, drawing the reader in. Many times my inspirations come spontaneously - much of my best work has happened spur of the moment, reacting to a challenge or sudden event.
*URL to your work at lit, personal website etc.

*List of some of your favorite poems/stories you have at Lit, in case anyone wants to get a taste of your work.
I'd say the Obsessions series is one of my best works at Lit. Not enough sex in the beginning chapters to whet the appetites of those who seek immediate gratification, but all together, building up into quite a story.

My favorite poems - Final Orders and Weave so far.

Links in my signature to all my works.

**If you don't post your own bio within 2 weeks, I will make one up for you without hesitation. :)

Well heck, I waited a GOOD 2 weeks anna, and still no bio showing for me so I thought I'd better stick one up for myself.

I've been here for a while and got more than I ever expected, including asthma attacks from what's behind Boo's couch. ;)

As for poetry, I prefer honest, straight critiques that pertain to my writing. I would like you to make me think and work hard to answer the questions you pose that will help me to make sense of my thoughts. I do not learn much when someone offers me a rewrite, my mind tends to go blank and it is as if I have been given a gift that is perfect and that I cannot improve upon. So, make me work! :)

The same as I receive. I hope to learn enough to be able to give reasonable critiques that make sense and that may help another.

What role? I am just me. What you see is what you get and well... I am what I am. I don't see any particular role at this point.

*How would you describe your writing?

My writing... hmm I feel that I write in a fairly basic format. At this point I prefer free verse, though I have tried a few form poems. I hate restrictions, but will say that they do make me work harder which is a good thing. So, basic writing but growing every time I write. :)

My stories and poetry

*List of some of your favorite poems/stories you have at Lit, in case anyone wants to get a taste of your work

Each one is a favourite for different reasons. If you want to look, feel free. :)

Suggestions:
Not so much a suggestion but a note... I don't take into count red 'H's or green 'E's. There are too many variables for either of those things to mean much to me.
