San Francisco Bay Area Community

Hello to all the CA litsters. I just stumbled into this post. Wanted to say hi. I'm also in the Bay Area. Looks like there was a get together. Was it attended by many? How did it go?

Yeah

I agree with the huntress....
there seems to be a very big male interest in the Bay Area ...including myself...but we need some more women for it to work.

community participation

yeah...
It would appear that meeting face to face presents some challenges for some virtual personalities. Perhaps these are greater for the female characters, persons, entities...I dunno.

Loss of annonymity may be more significant to women.
Loss of mystery re: appearance may be quite significant for thy namesake-vanity.
I must suppose some of us think this virtual community functions just fine w/o RL butting in and spoiling the action.

Fact is, meeting face to face changes the meaning of community.
Virtual is not real. Real may not appear to have enough value.

Isn't that why we meet here? To effect the relationships the way only annonymity and mystery can?

I HAVE IT!
A masked ball!
No one knows who sufi is!
Is he the one with the hooked nose and bandy legs?
Is that Huntress in the skins with the bow?
Who else but Bubman would come as a Clydesdale?
And those buns! Could only belong to otv!

Meeting of the minds...

Or is it the flesh?

Either way there's an awful lot of psychobabble going on in this thread!

Can't we just set a date for another meeting and get there? Why does it have to be thought out or processed to the Nth degree? Egad! I thought a little social gathering would be just that fer 'eaven's sake.

I'll put my money where my mouth is. How about September 7th at An Bodhran, 7:00 p.m. Be there or be square. :p

:D

I am noting the date and the time in my diary...I want to be there for this one...if I may?

Dammit!

Square, I'm afraid, unless my friend's wedding reception ends early enough. Otherwise I'll have to wait until October.

Psychobabble? I'm GOOD at that!

Hrm...wonder if I'm too far out to be considered bay area :D I'm only about an hour and half away.

Holy Shit!

YOU'RE In NorCal, too? You're certainly welcome, even if you're slightly North of the Northbay. We'll have to swap meaningful song lyrics over a pint or cup of coffee and vent a little about what's bugging us. You and Huntress can compare butts together, while I badger Ukin about British Motorcycles.

I'm still up for a meeting with everyone, but like I said earlier, I may have to miss this September meeting, not sure how long the wedding reception will run, or when I'll be able to escape. If the bride and groom are anxious to get their honeymoon started, and leave early, I'll be able to head home, change and shop up on time, otherwise, I may squeak in late in a rented tux, or miss it entirely...

How long did the last gathering last, so I have some sort of time frame I can estimate. I'd hate to show up there and be the only one, though it would make for good reading at the Misfit thread.

Well, I am 54 miles north of the City..and I class myself as Bay!

Be nice to see you there Lady Sam

Hey Chrome...shame you can't make it that night...hope to see you soon mate and have that chat about bikes..I get my Ninja this weekend! No holding me back then lol

last meet

Huntress and I were there till 10pm but the lit crowd had thinned.
The bar is kind of small, there were maybe 40 others from the neighborhood and such. There's a Worlitzer and live music some nites. Even local jam musicians.
A rousing conversation would have kept me there as long as the bar was open....

Lady Sam, you're more than welcome! A community is made up of who participates more than who belongs and I never meant to define who belongs geographically anyway. Please come!

I think there must have been more than a dozen persons who voiced an interest in getting together. It would be great to meet you all; San Jose, San Fran, San Mateo, Sonoma, Sacto, Marin, Alameda, Contra Costa, and other counties!

Why thank you kindly! I do admire my buns (snicker). I think the next meeting will be better -- since the "next" event will be in September, cringe (other thoughts). Of coarse I won't be hanging around the bar looking for a pull, but that's because I am a gentleman's kind of pervert, ha!

I am not sure about checking buns, but I might be convinced otherwise, with the assistance of coaching or the lost of inhibitions -- due to the spirits, and or motivation to be exposed.

All in all, would it be interesting to match the faces (and the actual physical of the person*s*) to the writings on the radient screen? After all, some things are meant to be typed and some to be felt by the hands or eyes.

Until then and the next *hunt*,
Your favorite barrel of monkies~

P.S. Is there going tto be a contest on firm buns, and the winner gets…

~drinks silly!

drinks? just drinks?

firm buns, huh?
sounds like a tactile evaluation.
Who's to judge?

Isn't life much more interesting or captivating when there are suprises? Firm can be so relative! As for whom might judge is in direct relation to who will participate. I love a good challenge and the lightness of just letting go…

Hi Lady Sam, nice to meet you. I'm in the south Bay, about 60 miles away. From my perspective any place within a reasonable drive is close enough.

Hello Ukin. I'm in the south Bay. The Bay Area is really a pretty big place, and because the freeway access is good, no one is ever too far away. I didn't realize there were so many Litsters in the area. Actually, I suspect there may be others, but they're discreet.

I'm too lazy to go all the way back in this post, so I'll take the easy route and just ask a few questions here.

Is the next get together confirmed?

What is the address, and what part of town is it in?

What is the parking situation around there. Would it be better to take Bart, if the place is anywhere near Bart?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

details, details..

An Bodhran is on the North/West side of Haight @ Steiner.
parking sucks...BART is distant...but the neighborhood is fun.
carpool?

Confirmed is a strong word at the moment but if I say I'll be there, it's more confirmed than it was.

Huntress just threw out that date. No body has argued....except our wedding guest (best man?).

It's the bloody Haight again, grrr! Actually, it's a wonderful neighborhood -- although lacking the substance as it was in the 60's. I liked Irelands 32 or the others on Geary, but I am open to meeting peeps. Hmmm, doorbell…
