*'Sanctuary' for Us *

quick ooc-Hey all-i'm here and not here-i'm struggling in life right now with work and some RL personal issues guys. I want you all to know that I'm not wanting to quit. But I'm going to be slowing down a lot. just a heads up. PLZ don't take over will and henry-if they need to be "nudged" cool but please let me stay. =) Thanks.

Henry felt Isis against him and for the brief moment it was magical. The baby and everyone being so calm, it was perfect.

Will took in the sight of the moments before him. He'd witnessed many births in his time at Sanctuary but this was a memory for the books.

OOC This is an attempt to make the beginning of the change discussed elsewhere. I'll willingly change it. The Iris referred to is a charcter in Evening Rose and Morning Glory found at

It is a "Stand Alone Story" complete and finished. But readers who want to understand some of the history will find it there.

Roger de Blythe

Adjusting the dials de Blythe began the process of bringing the other clone to life. Setting the temperature right he again tapped into the Akashic memory as well as a carefully preserved tissue sample he had kept since 1888. Adjusting the two he touched the dials and withdrew. Within a few minutes a perfectly formed doppelganger if Magnus’ long dead friend Iris sprang to life. Her first reaction was to scream because the very last physical memory she had was that of being murdered by Druitt.

Hearing the screams the clone of Imogen Worth cried out and de Blythe had to calm her down. Then opening a case he brought out some carefully preserved clothes once worn by Iris and handed them to Imogen. “Please” he said with thought “take these to the young lady, tell her she is safe and then when she feels up to it bring her to me. Meanwhile I’m going to make another attempt to contact your father.”

About an hour later Imogen accompanied by a very nervous Iris came into the room. “I’m going to have to help you” de Blythe said to Iris. “Your friend is here, and I will take you to her. But there are a few things we have to do first.” Turning to Imogen he started to say “I’ve tried to contact your father but something is …”

Roger de Blythe didn’t complete the sentence. Deep down in the bowels of the earth way below the foundation stones of the Sanctuary two tectonic plates that had rubbed against each other since before mankind was seen on the planet suddenly shifted. The violence unleashed was devastating to the whole area. The basement laboratories were raised upwards several floors so they were on the same level as the treatment room. Glass was shattering, people were screaming explosions ripped through the building and then everything was falling again. Seeing Isis and Lyda clinging to each other de Blythe noticed a huge beam come crashing down aiming directly for them. Leaping across he shielded them with his own body and took the full impact in himself.

There was confusion, terror, smoke, dust, blood entrails and the smell of death in the air before darkness, complete, total darkness followed by silence.

Declan

Trying to keep the current psycho restrained on the bed Declan soon found himself sitting on the floor the gurney still stable but the supply table on his leg pinning him for now in place. Quickly mentally going through everything he could tell that his leg was luckily not broken which was good but he was sure damage had been done.

Lyda

Watching De Blythe seeming to leap or get thrown towards them and the beam she tried to shove her mother out of the way of the beam only to feel the floor beneath her give way. Falling then... nothing... knocked out cold.

Kate

She had felt the floor shake then found herself in the containment basement looking one of the lizard beings dead in the face. It seemed startled by her but it had something else in hand... a strange looking little albino or white clad being clearly out cold and once the lizard realized she was unarmed it quickly began slithering between the falling debris and out into the brief window of sunlight.

Isis

The ground tore her daughter and Henry away from her People falling or seeming to take off she hissed and tried to grab for her "family" only to find De Blythe blocking her or blocking the beam something. Blood... chaos... darkness... Her mind snapped but not into the darkness that sought only to kill or escape this place but protector... clawing shifting and roaring.

Adam Worth

All the chaos and shaking and then the termination of contact with his little spy something in his mind tried to overpower the drugs given to keep him unconscious.

Tesla (with Ashley, Will, baby):

Nikola Tesla felt the vibration about a second and a half before Will and Ashley did. He moved quickly to wrap himself around the mother and child, mostly the child, and shoved Will hastily to the floor just in time to feel the whole area they occupied dropping and a split in the floor raised the other half of the room high above what had once been the ceiling with great rumbling and sounds of tearing metal and shattering glass mixed with an unusual shriek of stone scraping stone....

...and all was black. No light, not even daylight, just the sound of his daughter crying...He tore her from Ashley's arms, his fierce fatherly instinct kicking in as he checked her over for lacerations or injuries. "...Nothing...perfect. She's alright." he sighed. Then he recalled there were others nearby. "Ashley, are you ok?" he asked noting the bed she'd been in seemed to still be standing quite well and likely she was also fine, then. "Where's Will?'' he asked, looking around the rubble at his feet, seeing the impossibly high wall where the other half of the room once stood, and then behind them, a shattered broken door to a hallway which now seemed no more than a tunnel filled with debris and rubble. "William?!" he called out...

Something deep inside the Big Guy's psych made him nervous, anxious, something he couldn't explain. He observed the creatures in the sanctuary labs shuddering, fearful for no reason. Instinctively he wanted to protect, preserve, and to understand.

Then he felt it, a shuddering deep below and he recalled how the animals in the 2004 Tsunami had a psychic warning that made them take to higher ground. The shaking became more intense and he heard Ashley scream.

Confusion reigned as floors seemed rise up and down. He wasn't sure if he was in or out of the body as he saw a huge pile of rubabout in free fall in his final moment of conciousness. Then Blackness!

Magnus (with Druitt):

Helen Magnus was across the room in the med-lab, checking on the status of Ashley's heart monitoring readouts over the past couple of hours. She looked over her shoulder at her daughter and grandchild and had to chuckle at the hovering, protective form of Tesla nearby as if he was afraid Ashley would drop her own baby...Then, suddenly the ground beneath her lurched upward and everything shook around her. Early 20th century style metal cabinetry and shelving housing sensitive equipment toppled and fell down around her as she hit the floor, riding the tremor like the crest of a wave but collapsing when a huge unit just behind her fell atop her and sent her sprawling beneath it. She would have been horribly upset at this except that as the basement area she was ''riding'' rose up through the foundation of her house she felt the floor punch through the ceiling and the next of about two levels more and became suddenly quite grateful for the large, metal unit pinning her to her part of basement, protecting her from the brunt of most of these eventful impacts. She blacked out at one point during the rumbling, dreaming of falling down a great cliff to a dark abyss below...and awoke to find she was being rescued, the large twisted metal frame of cabinet having served it's purpose as shield long enough, it had cracked down the middle and someone was lifting it's remains off of her. She went to rise up onto her elbows and yelped in pain as her arm slipped beneath her and an unhealthy crunching sound and jolt of immense pain told her something was either broken or dislocated in her left shoulder and bicep area. Blinking through the tears that had appeared she looked into the grimy, distraught face of the man who took her innocence long, long ago..."John." she whispered and he fought back a few coughs before helping her to her feet. "What the hell happened?" she asked, not necessarily believing he'd have an answer but it felt like it needed asking, if not to him than to the universe as a whole, anyway.

Will

He felt the floor suddenly move and shake and he quickly saw Tesla move and take the baby and then blackness surround them all. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his keychain and turned on that little LED flashlight that he got at the dollar store. He smiled as the light pierced through the darkness.
"I'm here Tesla. Did you get the baby?'
He waved the light around surveying the damage.
Will saw Ashley and he walked forward towards her to see how she was. He wasn't too worried about Tesla due to his fantastic nature.

Henry

The floor and everything around him moved and crashed. Darkness swallowed them. His HEP form started to engage in sheer instinct. His eyesight allowed him to survey the damage and his surroundings. He saw Lyda lying on the floor. He walked over and reformed most of his body except his eyes so he could see.
He checked Lyda on the ground and saw she was ok. A few minutes later she opened her eyes.
"Don't panic at the darkness Lyda, not sure what just happened, but we're safe for now." Henry said in a calming voice.

Lyda

Hissing her eyes glowing with that feline eye shine in the golden feline eyes. She quickly looked around not seeing doors nor windows any more she hissed again and tried to move back away searching wildly till a pain in her leg stopped her from moving too much more. A fairly decent shard of glass was deep in the muscle of her left calf.

Henry
Lyda moved and hissed backwards away. "Lyda hold still. Relax. Breath deeply. You have a deep piece of glass wedged in your leg. I'm going to start looking for a medkit to start treating it. Just relax and stay calm."
She was getting jittery and he realized she might be claustrophobic.

Lyda

Hisses replaced with a snarl. Her eyes darting around... growled mumblings about no more training but the words were not real coherent and blending like they were woven within the snarls and growls. Abbyn's name a few times were somewhat clear.

Henry
Henry's eye's went wide.
Abbyn? Training? Good god, she's having somekind of episode. He needed to understand without sparking a full on mental confrontation. He started looking around for some kind of walkie talkie. He found one and started talking on it.
"Anyone? Hello?"

Lyda

Hands now more like claws pulling through her own hair as she growled...

They never answer... Thats part of the test... the training... you can hear them but they don't answer you.

She focused on the glass tilting her head she hissed reaching for it...

Not like I won't heal eventually... again...

With that she ripped the glass out of her leg with a roar.

Nikola cradled his daughter in his arms and grinned down at Will, "Of course, kind of felt a little like a sport-star, caught her like a little ball in play and tackled Ashley to the bed here." He looked down at Ashley looking quite awake and more than a little livid. His grin widened, "Sorry, but vampire reflexes trump groggy, drugged up, human who just gave birth a few hours ago, any day."

Ashley piped up with, "Oh, everyone, I'm fine by the way, thanks for asking." dripping with sarcasm before easing herself from the bed, swinging her legs over the side and demanding, "I want to see my baby and then we need to get the hell out of this place. I hate being trapped underground."

(ooc: sorry sis, I'll amend if you don't like the words put in your char's mouth.)

Finding a medkit and pulling out the bandages and gauze along with alchohol swabs he began to dress her wound. First he cleaned it at her strong dislike. Her growls came back to which he got frustrated and let out a roar of his own.
He finished bandaging her up and let her relax a little.
"Lyda, how are you?" He attempted simple communication.

Lyda

She will expect me to find a way out soon... thats the way the game is played. Take too long and phase two... dark smelling clouds...

Lyda tried again to move searching out a wall claustrophobia overtaking her mind but some sadistic training she had been put through seemed to be overpowering it for now.

Henry remembered something Magnus had told him once about HEP's. It was rumoured, but not proven that on occasion, if one hep was scratched by another, the scratched hep would receive the other's perceptions and certain traits for a while. He wondered about how far that went? What would happen if he tasted her blood? Could he access her memories and find out what she's referring to? He'd heard of certain species sharing that sort of bond via blood. He figured he'd try it in a passive way. The dressing that he used to clean her wound was still wet and shiny with her blood. He turned his back to her and started to lick and taste it. His mind became overwhelmed with images and feelings. He dropped the cloth and spasmed onto the floor into unconsciousness.

Lyda

She saw him fall but nothing really registered she sniffed at the air not smelling the "Dark smelling clouds" and went on about looking clawing she soon realized this was not the tomb like traps Dr Abbyn used and slowly the claustrophobia won out over the psychotic training expectations as she clawed roaring hissing against all she would know with her sane mind about her wound she began shifting her leg making horrific cracking and tearing noises as the wound began to bleed wildly until her body could begin to figure out how to heal in this crazed state.

Henry
Images flashed around in his mind and he saw the doc from Lyda's point of view and the horror that she went through.

Will

"Ashley you're really alight? You've just given birth for crying out loud. You should''t move too much. " His voice almost was insistent.
"As for getting out of here --ideas? Nikola?"

Lyda

Her mind was moving back to the reality of where she was and whats was going on around her her head quickly whipped around looking for Isis. She remembered the ground shaking De Blythe lunging at them. She remembered pushing her mother away from the beam...

MOTHERRRRR!!!!!

She roared out trying to make contact then her mind went into overdrive on top of the claustrophobia and she began wildly digging at the walls more and more hissing growling trying to make the debris move by sheer force of claws too panicked to make too much logical sense of all the paths her mind was taking just as her fathers would though the psychological fear was amping that yet jumbling it into a mass in her mind she could not sort through so the animal simply sought to dig their way out.

Henry
Seeing lyda going ape he had to intervene. He morphed into HEP form and walked over to her and pulled her from the wall and brought her back into the center of the room and put her down. He hoped she would stay where he put her. He doubted it but better than her scrathching the walls.

Lyda

Roaring for her mother once more she fought getting grabbed hissing half feline half crazed she looked to him

Where is Isis where is mother... Why aren't you helping me find her?

(OOC that’s fine Sis, sometimes we HAVE to move dialogue along. For the record I don’t mind any cast member speaking or acting for my characters if it moves the plot along. Of course if someone wanted to turn de Blythe into a fairy godmother I might have to insist on an amendment lol)

Ashley Magnus

Ashley felt so many emotions going through her mind she needed to somehow take stock of the situation. Somewhere she felt the pull of maternal love calling her to her baby and she was not going to be separated from her. But why did she feel so much pain? She looked down and saw a large shaft of glass in her chest plugging a crater. Trembling she fell back on the bed waiting for it to be removed. “Mother!” She called “Keep my baby safe …” She dare not say more for she knew without expert attention her body would explode in a sea of blood.

Roger de Blythe

Having taken the full impact of the beam onto his own body there was no way de Blythe could have survived. In his dying moment he hoped his experiments had worked and that he would regenerate the damaged cells and spring back to life.

Lying dead in curled ball that protected Lyda little vibrations began to shake his soma. Suddenly there was a sharp intake of breath and de Blythe sat up repaired and alive. Looking round he jumped up and shouted “LYDA … ISIS?” He struggled to see in the dark and noticed a distinct smell of escaping gas. Pushing the debris to one side he managed to see his way into part of his cloning laboratory. There was no sign of the new Iris but Imogen was very definitely there along with the Melaven clone. Making his way to them he said “We need to be careful, this place could explode at any moment. Help me try to find two survivors; a mother and daughter who we need to get out of here.”

Melaven Clone

The clone of Melaven helped Imogen to her feet and was about to say something when an aftershock brought more debris crashing down and a scream from the area where Isis and Lyda were believed to be. “Come on” she said “I heard something from over there. Let’s go.”
