The SRP forum has been spicey lately. 8)

It actually got up to 90 today but is already cooling off with the afternoon breeze. There's a big festival in Oakland this weekend but I'm staying on my side of the bay this time. Tomorrow I register to perform and vend at a San Jose Civic Auditorium festival coming up in September. Its sort of a competition as to which bellydancers get to work with which live band. I'm doing Turkish Rom style.

I was supposed to perform in SF last night down on Valencia St, but just couldn't get the energy together for that either. Maybe I'm just scared with all the creepy world news going on right now. No biggy that I didn't go because it just gives other dancers more turns for tips.

What up with you guys out there?

Its been a weird week and the weekend is full of birthday parties and the local Ren Faire.

Just sent my new band called Jubilee off to Israel and look forward to having them jam with my main drummer when they get back in a few weeks. Even thought they're usualy Klezmer, we're working on the Roman (Gypsy) style out of Istanbul right now and are prepare for an audition in January to this ~ http://www.worldartswest.org/ They've just started accepting modern fusion styles in the last couple of years but it really has to be good. With them and me as a soloist we have a damn good chance of getting in. It would be a career high!

That's fantastic. I think you have great chances to make it on their list. Fusion styles might just be the breath of fresh air needed to diversify the festival. It would be great to tape or DVD record the event. It's good you have til January to prepare. Just keep us up to date...

Thanks... luckily having a stage to myself with a couple of hundred people watching doesn't bother me too much when I solo. Its kind of like ice skating where if you skip a trick or change the order, no one really knows anyway. The dancers that don't make it are the ones that get all jittery. Troupe work is always harder with more bodies.
