Actually, it's not.

Religion is based on an ability to prove a historical record. The longer the historical record, the stronger the foundation of the religion becomes. And example would be the difference between Christianity and The Order of the Limp Dick. One has a historical record, the other doesn't. Well, except in certain cases for certain Lit members who think denying all religion absolves them of failing to recognize reality. I believe there's a thread around here someplace with that membership list in it. Gladly, I didn't make the list.

Anyway...

It is the historical record which creates the faith in those who follow that religion because that record shows there's evidence to support that particular faith that there is more than what we can perceive ourselves. The choice is always, and will always remain such, is whether any one individual believes that the historical record is true or not. Those who say yes, are faithful.

Those, such as yourself, who decry religion because that denunciation appears to give power, are not faithful. At least not in public. Private devotion seems to be your intended escape clause.
