what qualifies a sex addict??? I've known a lot of people who talk about sex all the time but they seem normal and behave normally around people... so what truly qualifies a sex addict then??? would love to hear thoughts from fellow literoticans.. pour your thoughts in....

Hi, I think part of the definition of 'addict' when it's applied to something that it's o.k. to do, such as sex or gambling or drinking, is when it is impacting negatively on other areas of one's life. I think if you do a google search you'll find a better explanation than I've done. When something is done compulsively, out of control and is damaging other relationships, situations like work, etc., THAT makes it an addiction or something negative. Heck, they talk about internet addiction and maybe some spouses, even ones of people in here, might think a person has that! Part of an addiction too is thinking you're o.k., but not everyone who is o.k. has an addiction....LOL something to chew on! People here probably want to talk about sex, not addiction...LOL Maybe a 12 step chat room would be better for answers on that and they're out there!

I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure addiction ident clarified by how much you think about it. I'm pretty sure it's more along the lines of how much it comes between you and you'd social life and family life. Then again the U.S.A is a bunch of deviants (I'm from USA so idk if this would be against the rules) and every one thinks about it. It's hardwired into our instincts from a milenia of evolution.

Any type of mental or physical issue is generally only classified as a disorder when it negatively on your life and/or those around you. Addiction is the same and sex and porn addiction are very common, at least I know porn addiction is. Signs of addiction like mentioned above include people suggesting you may have a problem, failed attempts to stop, and irritation and other withdrawl symptoms after periods of time with out. If your not sure try abstaining for a week or two maybe even longer and see if you can.

Thanks for the detailed reply and i agree that any idea/activity that leads to negative influence in life is addiction and if that is sex then it is called a sex addiction... but now the tricky part is sex addicts are not like other addicts like gambling or drinking... that is where my question(s) originate... there's no definite way to say who is a sex addict and that intrigued me.... again thanks for the reply...

Well, your opinion is highly regarded (atleast by me, lol)... i agree with your points about addiction but are sex addicts like hardwired to have constant sex like how a normal person breathes or eats.... i am coming more from that perspective... for eg., sometimes, i would go on without sex for couple of months but sometimes i am quite the opposite.. i just need to have a release multiple times a day... so it kinda doesnt make sense.... thanks for taking to the time to replying to my bugging thoughts here..... i do appreciate it...

Granted it only lasted about two to three weeks but during that time if a man wanted to take me I would have been unable to resist. The drive over rode my normal instincts and I was helpless. It was in sane but awesome being on that much of a heightened awareness. It would have made even the most prime and proper lady give in to lust!
