Sex in a world with Storks

So I got curious about storks and how they got associated with babies. Honestly it’s pretty interesting (ancient Greece apparently had a problem with storks stealing babies back in the day so they came up with a legend about it, Egypt they are related to souls, but the most relevant one is pagan customs where Storks bring their young back to their nest 9 months later and are seen as very maternal so it became a fertility custom to try and get storks to nest near your house in hopes you and your partner would be fertile).

Anywho, got me thinking: in a world where storks bring the babies, what purpose would sex have?

1. Sci-fi setting. People are on a colony ship and are being raised to be docile while in transit so they are kept stupid and robot storks bring engineered babies. However people still figure sex out and start having it despite the computer trying to stop them.

2. More fantastical: storks only bring babies to couples who are passionate and healthy. Wild sex is a good way to show that so if a stork is around, couples will start fucking or people who want babies will fake being couples and start fucking to try and prove they are fit enough to care for a baby

Women are like chickens. They "lay eggs." It is tiny, and they put a fertilised egg outside to be taken and cared for by the stork. Healthy babies are brought back. So each nigh they party hard on the horizontal plane, then in the morning the woman discretely places something outside, hoping the storks deem it a worthy sacrifice and give them a baby in 9 months.

Reminds me of the Xanth series. I read it when I was too young to read stories here and I'm surprised to see that it's still ongoing. Some scenes from that series wouldn't be out of place here. Some scenes in it only would be out of place because of the rule about underage content.

Sounds like a euphamism for a society where giving live birth has become unnecessary and largely unwanted. At an early but Lit approved age, healthy sperm and eggs are collected from each citizen and stored cryogenically.
At the age of 21, citizens then get sterilyzed. At that point, sex becomes purely recreational and entirely without consequences. When a couple decide that nows the time for kids, they literally order one. Nine months later, a child is delivered to the happy couple.
The agency that creates the children is called S.T.O.R.K.
But all is not well in this society as fewer people are requesting children, as carrying a child is crucial to the developement of maternal instict and the protective paternal instinct. Seeing your woman pregnant with your child changes a man and on a large scale, missing those things effects society as a whole.
Monogamy falls by the wayside as well. Communes become more and more popular and society starts becoming more tribal.

Reminded me of the animation Storks. Perhaps you can create an atmosphere similar to the animation, and make it more like a comedy than a sex story. For example, a stork has lost a baby which the baby machine has created, and desperately looks for an alternative way to create a baby.
