The "intrusive r" common in Midwestern and other Midland accents is attributed to the scots-irish influence in western Pennsylvania. Sorry I need to blow my nose and change my pocket protector

As a Southern transplant up here, I get ridiculed for saying certain words.
Even my own daughter who was born in Va and was up here with me at 1 1/2 makes fun of me.
