But the funniest part is... with my Karma, that I would meet someone the next day, who is like half those things and they would see the list, and then I'd feel bad.

They're so cute! I love bats. There's a sanctuary in Australia, I think, where they care for abandoned bat babies, and injured/elderly bats. It's so cute, they carry this elderly bat, who also has a busted, holey wing, all around the place and he slowly flaps his wings likes he's flying. It's so sweet!

I can describe what I think I want but all the people I’ve loved and desired the most have been people who were very different than any list I would have written down. Some attributes might match but others don’t always because the person is far more than the sum of those attributes. I want the serendipity of the discovery of that person, not a shopping list.

Same here. I love discovering everything about a person. Even the flaws. Flaws are every bit as much of a part of a person as anything else. Nobody is perfect. Funny thing is, I'm a sucker for blondes but I've never actually dated one.

Absolutely. It is such a a tricky, messy, wonderful melange in that type of attraction. And it has to be mental and emotional first, at least for me. I could try to quantify it to a list but even that wouldn't be right, or not complete. And there are people, in the world about me and here on lit, who hit those points for me, in lovely ways, both in positive ways as well as what they would call faults -- because that is what makes someone perfect for me. I posted once "I've seen your best. I've seen your worst. I want it all." Subjective perfection, I suppose. But that is what makes it magic.

The more I've thought about this, the more I wonder if this is a hidden look at ourselves. The notion that I could design a perfect mate assumes that either I have no faults, my partner willingly accepts my faults, or is invested in making me better. Since it's clear I'm not perfect then the last two assumptions would require I also accept my partner for who they are and where they are. Some of the best sex I've had came from the connection I had with the partner who challenged me in ways I could have never designed.
