Sex & Shenanigans

Yeah, I have had annual passes to both Disneyland and 6 Flags (not in the same years) a few different times when I was younger, but the way Disneyland has been trying to price out locals since 2021 is a major bummer. Knott’s (which didn’t even offer passes when I was a teenager), on the other hand…last time I looked, you could get an annual pass, a parking pass an unlimited fountain drinks pass and 2 meals per day pass for less than $700?! And living only 4 miles down the street from it is suuuper tempting!
I've never had a Disneyland pass and I never will. It's so ridiculous. $800 to not have parking and be blacked out for weekends, summer, and Xmas break? And you have to queue for a pass? No thanks.

I'm gonna PM you about Knott's. It's not $700. It's much much cheaper

I had just looked it up after posting and it’s $375 for all that, with a sale on the cheapest annual pass for the remainder of 2024 + 2025 that ends today! 😱

And only $285 for every subsequent person if you carpool with a regular group and only need one parking pass. $17 more for hot beverage pass upgrade. Still really damn good! Theoretically, people could eat 2 meals there for about $1 per day if they had 5+ hours to spend there every day 🤣

I did the Disney thing once. Fun, but not worth the cost, and that was 20 years ago.
Now? I’d say forget it, even with Hogwarts and Galaxy’s Edge.

Last time I had an AP was about 20 years ago, and was worth it as a So Cal local. Ex-fiancé and I would go there all the time on mutual days off, or even on impromptu dates for a few hours after work. My sister and her kids, and my cousin and her son had passes as well. We’d go there on weekends and birthdays and holidays. We still got food and souvenirs and sometimes splurged on the fine dining or character dining options, but Disney is now going after only out-of-town guests who visit lest often and spend more per visit.

Hogwarts is actually at universal studios. I still go to Disney every year because kids but I get tired
I’d love to go to Galaxy’s Edge because I’ve been a Star Wars fan my whole life, same with HP since I was in 6th grade, but the cost is insane (not even counting the airlines) and I don’t know if I’d want to people that much. I’d want to hermit in my hotel room by late afternoon with that many people around me all day 🤣🤣

I haven't done Disneyland....but Disneyworld....well um ahhh, if i had to count maybe 20 times....maybe more.

One time was cool bc stayed in the Contemporary, watched Space Shuttle launch.

I went twice in one month, could have been three.

I did do Disney, Hogwarts, Kennedy Space Center and The Florida Keys in the same trip.

If I go back, it's to see Avatar world and yes Galaxy Edge. They were just building those when I last was there.

I haven't been there in a couple decades, though it is amusing to stop the boat and figure out just how far the screams carry over water. 😆
Same on the decades. My dad and cousin went on Top Thrill Dragster when it was foggy. Then yes Six Flags near me ripped their idea to make King da Ka to be taller. (that was fun to watch though bc the drive thru safari was behind it.) 🤣🤣🤣

Did Disney World for our honeymoon, way back in 94. Stayed on site at the Polynesian resort. Way too much fun.

I was 86ed from Disneyland way back, but I am pretty sure they have forgotten it by now... *whistles "It's a Small World After All"*

Damn, I just got that song out of my head.

Polynesian loved!

I haven’t been to Disneyland and California Adventure since they built Galaxy’s Edge and destroyed Twilight Zone Tower of Terror by re-theming it to Avenger’s Campus. Interested in the former, not the latter.

I haven’t been to Universal Studios Hollywood since I was 7 or 8 and wasn’t impressed. I did finally want to go back to Universal for WWoHP, until JKR showed herself to be a vile transphobe. She sure as fuck doesn’t need me adding to her fortune again in her lifetime.

Haven’t been to Disney World since I was 6. Universal Studios Orlando was still being built. I was the only one (in a family and extended family plus friend group of 7 people) young enough to not have functioning sweat glands yet, and the only one who had fun. After living in FL for 2.5 years as an adult, I understand completely why they were so miserable! Plus, other reasons that bring Florida much lower on the list of places I’d want to spend tourism dollars.

I guess none of you live close enough to enjoy the thrilling awesomeness of Cedar Point. I'd take that over 6 Flags, Disney, or Knott's any day.
Cedar Fair now owns not only Cedar Point, but 6 Flags and Knott’s as well 🤣 So we have 4 of their parks in So Cal, plus 2 Disneyland parks and Universal and other smaller parks. Nice try 😜

I forgot about that sale this year!
I'm actually really disappointed in it. I don't want Cedar Point to be renamed, it's iconic.
