Shadow over Gerelden OOC

Huh. Must've been the bandana that gave Jager away. I've been thinking of using the bandana, or at least the intricate stitching, as a form of identification among the Mori, especially considering how much like humans they appear when their pointed ears aren't visible. Would make sense that other elves have learned to recognize the bandanas/stitching for Mori markings.

I actually meant it as in elves can TELL each other apart. They are magical creatures by nature, and can FEEL the magic inside another being.

Most of the time.

You know, Undead can sense other Undead, Wolves sense other Wolves, and Spriggans sense Spriggans.

It's just how it works.

Ah. Well, that is an interesting point that I hadn't thought of.

As an aside, I had setup the Mori as elves that don't use magic, i.e. no mages, wizards, sorcerers, etc. In fact, the only magic they possess, in my mind, are the blades that Jager is carrying, and according to the Mori, they didn't make those blades - they acquired several sets of those blades so long ago that their origin is lost in time. And as might be revealed when the time to use the blades actually comes about, the nature of the blades has led the Mori to have a natural distrust of magic users and magic in general.

So, the whole feeling the world thing that Jager had done, the music he played, as well as other skills he'll eventually display, have nothing to do with magic (unless the blades are involved), and are long cultivated skills among the Mori that set them apart from other elves. Of course, it could be that the skills and talents have some root in magic, but Mori culture doesn't recognize that potential fact for some reason, perhaps because the root was lost in time like the origin of the blades, and that the skills and talents are so common among them that they aren't recognized as being special.

Anyways, some interesting food for thought, that whole "elves are magical beings" thing.

By the way, what's a Spriggan?

A Spriggan is a sort-of nature elemental. Usually fairly evil, if I remember correctly.

And you did mention in the description of the Mori that if you ask an elf about them they will know what you're talking about, and likewise if you ask a Mori about a "normal" elf.

If you can describe an elf as normal, that is.

When I came up with the Mori, I was thinking "normal" elves were like the elves from Lord of the Rings: high minded, eternal beauty, scholarly, etc. I intended the Mori to be almost the opposite.

Like a Yurioni in her true form sort of elemental?

Or not so much.

No, not so much.

And I figured that was what you were going for, Jedi. It's a wide stereotype always applied to elves, for some reason.

On a side note, I believe it's your turn to post.

At least I didn't go for the Santa Claus elves, which is the other stereotype for elves.

And yes, it is my turn to post. I'm working on it as we speak.

Sorry for the delay folks. Had finals to tend to then went somewhere without Internet over the weekend. Might happen again.

Anyways, I'll have the post up tonight.

Hmm...I can't decide if that was directed at Zelthuros or not.

And what the question was, exactly.

That was an odd way of wording things, there, Dormant.

Mind clearing it up?

Since I am now off the sleep deprived high, and have no (well little) caffeine in my system I shall attempt to clear that up.

Thanks, and sorry about that. lol

Not a problem at all. I was just confused, is all.

Am I to assume that the names and stories you're talking about are the ones about The Dark Ones? Or did you mean the old prophecies? That was actually the part I was confused on.

Ohhhh.

Let's just say both. Mainly the names though. I want to learn more about the Dark Ones.

I was speaking of the prophesy at the start of the IC post...as Grimlock is not mentioned in it, he has no idea about it.

Even if Grimlock had been mentioned in the prophecy, he wouldn't know about it, I would think. Jager knows nothing about a prophecy.

Well then Jager can maybe just tell more about himself and ask Grimlock perhaps more about his life? This is a gathering where we can get to know each other not true?

Indeed it is, and I am glad you have come to that conclusion, DK.

Though Zelthuros didn't tell the group about himself in particular. He told them the legend that was inquired about.

I was actually curious if anyone would notice that. I suppose not.

If Grimlock is looking for Jager's life story, or background info, he'll be sorely disappointed.

A bit defensive there sir. Don't want the big bad knight to know you are a smuggler and a bounty hunter? LOL, well just a brush off would be fine as well, or even a defensive: "You ask a lot what about you?" should work as well.

You'll see what I mean once I post. :)

By the way, I forgot to mention that I'm currently someplace with spotty Internet, so I won't be online quiet as much as I would like, but I will try to put up my post when I can find some decent Internet for an extended period. This situation is probably going to last until Tuesday.

Sounds like a weather forecast:

We will have spots of rain all over the interior, with cold weather that would last until Tuesday

Usually I would dislike that sort of weather, lately its rather preferential to my mood. Plus I've been running hot, so the cold temperatures are rather comfortable.

Always bringing me down, Jedi...

*sigh*

Oh well. I had planned something like that anyway.

If you had planned for something like that already, then I didn't bring you down, I just was one step ahead. If anything, you're ahead of Jager still, but he's not far behind.

Oh, and Jager has yet to identify himself as a Mori elf. In fact, he should look very human still, with only Angel's character recognizing him as an elf because of the aforementioned recognition between elves. Oh, and Zelthuros/Shadow might have an hunch too.
